*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

I'm just looking at midrange these days for similar reasons. Must be getting old
I’m getting near 40 now and I just don’t really play games any more. I’ve completely grown out of it. I tried to get back in to it numerous times sporadically. Thing with me is I’m still interested in the hardware and putting together a system, I don’t know why. Old habits I guess. I could justify it for years but after I bought a 4090 I felt like a bit of a plonker. £1600 on a graphics card? It’s mental. Thankfully I sold it just recently pretty much for what I paid for it, but from now on I’m happy to stick with more sensible products.

Lord knows leather jacket man has had enough out of me since my first Nvidia GPU the TNT2 Ultra way back in the day.

I'm over 10 years older so I know what you mean. Lots of other stuff going on too taking the time and money up. I'm planning on taking up MMOs again when I'm retired, if I make it that far

I think I will game until I die. Never get bored of it. I have also been building my own PC's for over two decades now. Does not happen so much these days, mainly just upgrade graphics cards.

The trick is not to FOMO. Deals tend to come along and I just grab them when they do. Keeps upgrade costs low :)

It's never been easier to not FOMO. The last generation of hardware hasn't really moved the needle a lot with only the 4090 showing some proper strength and due to that it doesn't seem like games have moved forward as much as it they tend to in after some hardware generations.

Also age helps with not being insecure about epeen status. Mine is not that big and I've learned live with it, but the action is smoooooth ;)

It's all pretty stagnant right now.

The only thing on the horizon to justify a high end gpu purchase is likely gta6. But even that will likely run alright on a PS5 Pro and won't come to a pc until probably 2026.

I don't imagine most people can barely see the difference in the high end without using a framerate counter.

What's the rumoured specs on AI & RT performance? Interested in AI performance for apps.

A good enough mid range card would do me if it's very competitive, I haven't got back into gaming for a while and find myself mostly on Twitch or forums, youtube etc.. but I enjoy playing around with apps sometimes so I'm gonna keep an eye on overall performance of these, and price of course.

Latest rumour, rdna4 GPU dies are smaller than their rdna3 counterparts, for example Navi 43 has a 30% smaller die than Navi 32 and Navi 44 is 18% smaller than Navi 33

Hopefully that means they can price it properly to get the market share they are after.

Just imagine if they kept their margins low this gen. They could claw back a lot of market share.

They just need to price it right from the get go. Get the Internet buzzing and raving with good reviews etc.

Any more confidence yet in a release date/month? Some of the 7800XT deals are very tempting but I rarely upgrade and would like some RT longevity.

Maybe buy something on a deal and then shuffle it on quickly while it still has most of its value when the new stuff arrives if you think it's worthwhile?

Depends how long you've waited if another couple of months is worth it to wait and see what the new stuff brings.

Yeah just waiting for someone to strip open the ps5 pro and see whats really on that... if its any indication for this rounds RT and its version of dlss tech.
All they'll find is disappointment I'd wager. If you look at the results released so far for the games with RT it's not far off from a 7700XT. The PSSR part looks okay, though it seems like performance-wise it's not doing as well as DLSS (upscaling cost), probably a result of the still hybrid cores & more limited amount of them in the console chip (which makes sense for cost reasons). Don't think it would be an issue for an FSR 4 that's ML-based since dGPUs will simply have more cores.
