Wth people tend to compare Vega cards to oced versions of competition, that's what i always wondered ..

To be fair, the gaming x cards with no further tweaking are only a few percent faster than the stock/Founders edition cards.

I expected clock speeds to be higher, a 30Mhz OC is pretty pitiful. I guess that shoots down the rumours that the FE cards were playing it very safe. I'm not saying it won't be possible to OC to 1700Mhz and possibly beyond, but it gives an indication to the limitations of the die if this is the factory level.

I doubt they are testing oced versions lol This are clearly stock clocks, there are Fe versions that are doing 1700 and more

I know. It's the same die and, as far as we know, the factory level is 1600Mhz, so 1630Mhz is a factory overclock. As I said, I know they OC higher, but people were under the impression that FE was playing it super safe on clock speeds... apparently not.

Nobody knows what factory level is and i highly doubt they tested '1630' as oced version. 1630 is probably final stock speed

So much for "somewhere between an OC'd 1080 and a 1080ti".

Reality is less perf than a 1080, or trading blows.

Thing is these kind of benchmarks do not tell the story of what the HBCC can do. They promise us in some scenarios 50% more minimum frames. That's defo something interesting.

It's right up there with 'An Overclockers dream' tweet from a couple of years ago in terms of PR plunders but this tops even that IMO.

Anything over 1600Mhz on stock would be surprise as Vega consumes a lot of power. There is going to be some help from less HMB and maeby some tweaks but the real limit is propably that 14nm process. But where VegaFE could reach 1600 I assume RX will be on 1600 pretty much all the time.

Vega will make my life easy if it flops and difficult if it's any good. If it's good, it means I'm buying Vega and FreeSync monitor and tied to AMD for the life of my monitor which could be 10 years!

Where as I'm green and more comfy with Nvidia.

Not tied to them at all. I'm running NoVideo on a Freesync monitor right now. The 144hz makes life better.

What are the FreeSync problems? I haven't had any issues yet in any games and I've had the FreeSync monitor for ages, looking at getting a FreeSync ultra wide monitor now. FreeSync has been pretty amazing for me, I would not go back.

And is the problem with amd or ubisoft/microsoft? I have had a lot of problems with ubisoft and MS!
