This seems to have info on how the packs will work.

You won't like it.

I don't understand why these packs aren't available in the UK and Europe. I know the packs aren't for everyone, but, I know people who upgrade everything all at once and don't spend anything else for years. My brother, as an example, is still using the system I built for him using an 8800GTX. He will update sometime before Christmas. The Pack would have been ideal for him.

Keep the faith. We'll find out everything on Monday.

We didn't like it any more when it was news some 12 days ago now (at 4-5am or so on Monday 31st) at the siggraph non-launch.

But as it says its only US/Canada/OZ etc - but there could be something here too - and we will find out on monday or a bit earlier if the leakers leak (and are believed).

I'm not at all interested in bent monitors (waiting for oled ultra-wides) and already have Ryzen 1800X and pre-ordered Wolfenstein2 but codes can be sold. The hardware is only for immediate purchases so not interested in those.

The key part and the bit I didn't know was that you have to redeem the vouchers/money off at the same time you buy the card.

Discrete GPUS are very much aimed at the 'haves", consoles at the 'have nots'.

Hahaha. Do you actually believe that crap?

I've heard of the PC master race but I didn't realise it was real.

Most gamers I know all own both.

The trend is towards what D.P. said. dGPUs getting more and more expensive.

People saying all over this forum that they're close to quitting PC gaming. Just too expensive.

One small consolation is that I can not remember a time when a low-mid end card could play all the latest games so well either. Unless gaming in really high resolutions or with daft settings a 480 or 1060 will just about do everything you could want.

E:assuming the mining craze buggers off and let's us buy them

That is the flipside side, and largely due to the increased console uptake as well.. It has been a long time since we have had a game like crysis.

To be honest I am also getting to this point. 10+ years ago PC games had much better graphics than consoles and that was primarily what attracted me to PC gaming and also the
wider selection of FPS games. Fast forward to 2017 not only does Consoles games look excellent and not far from PC games in terms of quality the selection of games is much
better on consoles and more varied. If this trend continues, PC gaming will be dead within 10 years.

I don't think they're quitting because they're in the have nots though, it's a misconception that people won't buy because they simply can't afford to, anyone even looking at a decent gaming GPU in the first place is likely ahead of the group you'd consider have nots and if they aren't then you could argue where their priorities lie.

In my opinion those who are quitting are doing so because they're sick of being milked more and more every year for very little performance improvement, meanwhile console gaming is edging closer and closer towards PC level, it's always going to lack details and anti-aliasing in parts but sat back on a sofa most people couldn't care less.

Not many people can afford $500-700 to go with a $400 CPU, $200 mobo, $300Ram, $700 screen.

A decent gaming PC that would give a noticeably better experience than a console, is just not affordable in comparison in to consoles if you are earning lower than average. The UK median salary is 22K, that means half the country is earning less than that. Subtract rent/mortgae, living costs, taxes and spending all that money on a gaming rig is just not that attractive when a console will provide similar entertainment value.

I'm not talking about childish "PC master race" rubbish, I'm just pointing out the economic reality for a large proportion of the country.

Exactly, how many people have said that since vega is not really hitting the desired price-performance ratio they will just buy a console instead.

Yeah this is me also. I've basically decided I am 100% getting an XBox 1X, and any upgrades to the PC will be postponed indefinitely whilst the prices are, imho, "mental" :p

My last system overhaul was this:

2500k @ £110.
mobo @ £90.
ram @ £50
gpu @ £150.

Now cut to today's prices...

CPU @ £250
mobo @ £200
ram @ £150
gpu @ £400

I must have misread your original post, I thought you were getting the air cooled version. The Liquid cooled one needs more power because of the pump. You might still be ok though. It's only a few more days until we know for sure.

Yep, looking forward to see what these Vegas are like especially with TDP and thermals, only 3 days to go now

My current build will probably be my last, next GPU purchase will probably be my last too, IF I get one

I've been close to buying a PS4 Pro numerous times and just leaving my current build to age and finish my Steam games off but every time the price of console games puts me off, the fact that I would be hogging the TV if I have a console isnt ideal either but if PC gaming gets any more expensive then I'll be priced out and I'll have no choice but to go console

Those 2 statements are factually incorrect. Not just a /little/ incorrect, but wildly so. However, if moving to consoles is your bag - then have at it :)

Console games can be traded tho - Steam games can't.

So long as you aren't a collector, console games don't work out much different, so long as you swap them when you're done with them.

Back on topic ffs, frys in the u.s has the reference vega 64 listed at 100$ ABOVE the proper price point. Seeing as ocuk has (allegedly) over 1000 of these in stock i'm wondering why all the price ratcheting. One of amd's slides stated $499 for the black shroud 64 iteration of the card. And yet seemingly with good supply they're still ratcheting the price.

Fry's are generally always overpriced, think Maplins equivalent here in the UK.
