300 air/350 water is what its meant to be, the reviewers boxes state 1000 watt minimum psu which is totally over the top.
Well ill go like this Overclocked 1700x maxes out at 180w for motherboard+fans id say around 50-40 overclocked Vega maxes at 450w.

So i think a good 750W will do the job for single gpu with overclocked EVERYTHING
btw. HBM2 draws **** all power if HBM1 takes around 15w/1 stack HBM2 will take LESS/stack when 8gb of ddr5x takes 20W id say 8gb of HBM2 will take 15 ??

I need a new card to replace my 280x and want decent upgrade for around £300 not bothered if it's vega 56 or 1070.
Don't think you can count on the 56 being close to £300 (especially initially) as the US price is 399 dollars so it's going to be closer to £400 or even more.

If I get the vega I will probably grab that new samsung 32" fastsync monitor that's coming out at some point and If I get the 1070 I will probably just stick to my tv and use fastsync.

Hopefully prices will come down a bit for me with this release.

That's pretty much my situation although I have a 290. While the 290 is still fine for 1080p gaming, I'm dipping my toes in VR and would like some more GPU grunt for a sensible amount of money.

I'd bet on it being £450+ myself, at least over here.
im looking at TR price 999$=998£ so 399$=398£ simple :) but thats before miners tax lol.

I think Margaret Thatcher should investigate this Mining business :]

That is just silly then in my opinion. Get consumers wet in the mouth for something they cannot have.

I did feel this way when seeing the unboxing videos, but then again it's just a perk for the reviewers, and ultimately a mere trinket that will be forgotten soon enough. I only really care about the price, performance and power draw.

Yes but AMD arent exactly sticklers for coming in under spec.

I'm just wondering if it limits Vega 64 overclocking potential. That liquid cooled one is close to that at stock, I wonder how far you can actually increase the power limit.

I guessss that answers my question. AMD are happy to draw power over spec which is probably a good thing for overclockers.

EEE at stock its in spec overclocking is running card out of spec to start with. Thats why i hate Nvidia i cant put more power in card without soldering ******* resistors on to the pcb... Or some poor mans glue :/ At lest with Maxwell i just modded bios flashed and had 425 limit. Now Titan all i see is Power limit :S

Tech of Tomorrow had the Air Cooled Vega - 750w PSU printed on box.

AdoredTV had the Water Cooled Vega - 1000w PSU printed on box.

Just in case anybody didnt notice :)

AdoredTV has also mentioned about the high recommended PSU requirements:

So looks like a good ~650w should be good for the liquid cooled Vega.

Not a problem for me. Got a nice 1000w PSU myself. I bet my whole system with a liquid edition would not take 500w anyway.

@opethdisciple - I see you did not wait for reviews and bagged a 1080 on members market ;)

At least you got it at a decent price. Better than paying what you originally was saying :p

One thing people often forget with PSUs is that it isn't just about the averaged power draw - you'll have things like current inrush and other spikes and transients, etc. to deal with time to time - which the specs will make some allowance for but still. Plus pair up one of the newer Intel 7xxx CPUs with an overclocked watercooled Vega and LOL GL running that on a 650 watt PSU :O

I decided that Nvidia was a safer bet. Going Vega was like betting against Nvidia. Which in the long term isn't a clever move.

At least with a Gsync panel I will be ready for Volta and beyond. Once you go AMD and a Freesync panel as far as I'm concerned your vendor blocked in. I'd rather be locked in to Nvidia than AMD. Even if AMD have turned a corner, smart money still bets on Nvidia.

Sure HBCC could end up being disruptive as AMD claim, but I'm sure Nvidia will have an answer in the future.

Good point. That is why I am happy I have a good quality beefy PSU. No need to worry as it does not need to struggle and put strain on components and create lots of noise and heat.

Do not blame you one bit. AMD made your decision easy with lack of performance from Vega. If reviews do not grab me, I may just do the same :p

True, overclocking alone will jack up the draw by a fair chunk. Hopefully my 860W Corsair is enough for it.

Wonder if Vega will be more power efficient if undervolted? Fury seemed to use a lot less power when undervolted so if that applies to Vega as well I'm sure the power usage could be dropped significantly.

It's also just a drop in replacement for my 970. Dual slot and 8 pin ready to go. Also reviews say the 1080 G1 draws as much power as an overclocked 970. Perfect!

Shouldn't have to modify my PSU either even if it is pretty old. (Over 5 years maybe more)

Also the monitor I want is a Gsync one (Dell S2716DG)
