RX Vega really talking about Jan 2018 release? If that's the case I'm going to pick up a 1080ti.

Only thing I will say if that is true.. If AMD are comfortable with such a delayed release, then it must 1080ti level of performance or better? Surely?

i am not trolling, what is due at the end of the year ? i am sure something is, i assumed its the gamers card as the frontier edition is next month?
No.... amd have allready stated fe at end of june or 27th to be precises and rx vega is end of july. Why are you going round stating something which amd have not said? When they have announced dates.

Thats the Polaris replacement small cards.
RX Vegavomes after Siggraph 2017, end of July.

Cards probably available 3-4 weeks later (Polaris launched properly 4 weeks after paper launch)

We'll find out at the Q2 investor call. Last one (Q1) AMD was asked why there was inventory in CPUs being built up, and then Ryzen R5 dropped shortly after and without stock issues.

Expect Vega talk during the next call, especially in the Q&A, as some are very interested. So if investor data shows a suddenly GPU inventory, even with RX 570 and 580's globally sold out; we'll know it's Vega.

So in Nvidia speak, is the Titan out end of this month, 1080 end of next month and the Ti end of the year?

Bit lost as to what exactly is being released in July, seems to be differing opinions?

oh get out, this is the AMD thread !!

(joking of course, i would never insult a Don)

Do not speak the tongue of mordor in these hallowed grounds :p

There is no Ti in this analogy afaik. Not yet known, a die shrink might be it but its not end of year I'd guess. End of year is the little Vegas. All the big revenue more mainstream stuff. Frontier is very much cutting edge for them and specific to a market, vega is more open consumer but its high end enthusathist. Eventually (this year?) they allow for laptop vega or on cpu vega for the people dont check this thread every few hours :p

Same boat :D

Had a 7970
Suddenly died on me so reverted to a 6970 I had spare.

It's killing me using it though.
Just as I was settled on buying a 570.
I had that except my revert was a much older 4870 was a bit complicated but now obvious I should have got a 480 :o lucky i play some old games, would be good to play the UE4 based games and get a good result from a new card etc. Currently nvidia is best choice but hopefully not as much post vega

Do you think the release of the Vega cards will effect the prices of the R9 290 straight away ? looking at buying one to tide me over, but if the price may crash ill wait

The 2nd hand value of a 290 has been inflated by miners if you sold it now you could get 200 quid for it potentially, once the difficulty gets to hard for GPU's a 290 will be worth less then 100 like they were a couple of months ago. I doubt Rx Vega won't be available in enough quantity to effect 2nd hand prices imo.

Could be Jan 2018, took months for people to get their FuryXs that they'd pre-ordered, cards were only coming in at about 1 a month, was ridiculous, and then they were having to send them straight back for the whine, and wait yet more months for a replacement, which could have also whined.

I could never go back to the 4870, especially the 512mb. Does the drivers even work in Win10?

Baked my 7850 and it's all hunky dory now. :D Taken out my 780 because all I play right now is league, whilst mining at the same time is awesome at half the power draw. :D

Just waiting on my 1070 shipping as I got fed up of waiting since February for Vega and the supposed party crashing it was going to do to Nvidia, instead all we got was the rise of ETH and all RX's getting inflated in price which in turn means no competition for Nvidia so those went up too.

Ahh.. How I long for the good old days.
Mac Pro with Vega

Depends, do you believe forum rumours?

They're my gospel bruvva

Ouch, 512. It was brutal on a 5870 with 1GB that had no drivers since mid 2015. Beta Crimson start of 2016, closed door.

The dream if they can deliver would be a 16-18 tflop card to fend off Volta or at leastis a 11-13tflop RX card with 12-16gb that can trade blows with a 1080TI and be cheaper. my 980 is dying. Trying to hold on for amd because I just have a feeling they will deliver this time around.

The problem being that AMD are taking so long now that Vega needs to be competitive with Volta, let alone Pascal.

Either that or they need to get it out and then have a node shrink good to go H1 2018. As otherwise they're just going to get left behind in six months.

As Loadsa would say. "It will be competitive with Volta, the Volta GT 1030 replacement."
