Yup really wish there was a rule on this sub forum to ban such sites or have ocuk star out the name just like they do with competitor retailers.

These rumour mill sites though are a part of the course though, when I first started getting into tech sources were often quoted from sites like Bright Side of News, Fudzillia or latter on SemiAccurate. They come and go, WccfTech is no different, it will be something else in a couple of years time.

I think mods should should remove all links to wcctech articles as mere rumours and not factually substantial. Absolute rubbish.
Where do draw the line though. At times there's some substance to the rumours.
There was a rumour in the old thread saying that Vega would be late. It turned out to be true for the gaming card.

Personally I like all the rumours as there's so little information it's better than nothing :p

...
The Fury can perform as good or better than the 1070 in Zcash. I actually get 500s/s with it but the power requirements make it a bad choice over a 1070. The 390 can also do this. I don't know why but the 480 isn't as fast as the 390 for it.

If as I've seen mentioned a few posts back bandwidth is important that's where the 390 will shine.

AMD RX Vega Custom AIB Cards Shipping In Early August – Lineup To Include Two Tiers Competitive With The GTX 1080

http://wccftech.com/amd-vega/

Taking this long to be competitive with the 1080 doesn't bode well, At over a year old Pascal's due a replacement fairly soon.
I really want to go Vega but I'm not really missing Freesync so if that continues to be the case I may hold on to my 1060, I noticed that's gone up by £50 now the deals over,
I'm tempted to grab a 1070 now and put the 1060 up at a £20 loss for me (the games make it up though) and a £70 saving for whoever buys it (minus the games).

Competitive with the 1080 in the sense that it is faster than it?
I just remembered why I never click on wccftech links.

I've given up trying to avoid them on this forum :D

EDIT:

I just noticed OCUK finally have some £400 580's in stock... sheesh.

Hah...hahahahahaha.... hahahahahaa..... That's why I went with the 1070s for my mining rig. They're actually available and similar costs. lol

Yup it doesn't really bode well for future products at all tbh, if vega doesn't arrive till August and only just matches a 1080 then we might as well wait until volta.... and how long will AMD then take to match/beat volta? Another 1/2+ years?

If I do upgrade my PC/GPU this year, I think picking up a cheap second hand 1080 will be the way to go

I disagree. Misdirection is worse than no direction. Someone could put something potentially plausible, that's taken for gospel and we're lead down a dark rabbit hole where realistic expectations are blurred with hype. Granted, some members in this thread aren't helping the situation.

^^ this.

Notice how many people are claiming doom based on that WCCF article that EVERYONE knows is gonna turn out to be a ******** rumour anyway, yet still drawing conclusions from it.

Gotta say the wind has been sucked well and truly out of the Vega sails for me now, I don't know about anyone else?

****** off with Nvidia pricing dressed up with smoke and mirrors
****** off with AMD marketing and progression
generally ****** off with GPU hardware in general tbh

at least the weather is nice atm :-)

I so wanted to buy a Vega but AMD have just taken too long and not released enough information. I simply couldn't ignore the mining craze & are flogging my RX480 for profit and are going team green with a GTX 1080. It's a real shame from my perspective & I wouldn't be surprised if AMD are seriously regretting putting all their eggs in the HBM2 basket.

So the same rumours site that had the RX480 pegged as the 980ti killer was okay (okay it won in terms of mining, but that's not gaming), but anything negative should be ignored? :/

No? Everything on WCCF should be ignored (or at least taken with 5 bags of salt).
