Same here, as I said before, I have played all the big titles I want for this year and last year after owning a 1080 and 1070 before that so my Nano is more than good enough for the things I am playing now. My next card will likely come sometime in 2018 once some of the big games I am waiting for get released. It may even end up being a Volta card if the power is needed and AMD do not have anything again.

Yup and all the titles I've played this year have already ran great on my 290 @ 2560x1080 so any future plans for upgrading will be for titles not due till later in the year or next, plenty of time! Heck, for all we know, the future titles could also run very well especially if they have dx 12/vulkan (of course, we will have to give them 4/6+ months to get patched for the PC first though ;))

I would sooner move to console (will just put up with 16.9 and 30 fps) than support nvidia's practices and get milked from them :D

Either that or I'll just buy a cheap second hand nvidia gpu from the members market from someone who loves to support nvidia every year and that way not only do I get a good deal but I don't directly support nvidia's milking and uk gouging prices, win win :D :p ;)

Such pain and anger in this thread

I'm sure some people take the lack of any new details as a personal snub from AMD

my 980ti will last me a few more months until there's more news, until then... Life?

In regards to nVidia and consoles (AMD) I truly believe that they are nVidia's main competition now (and have to keep prices reletively sane or will force people over).

Let me join the outcries.
This was really pathetic. Never mind the release date, but not even a ballpark on pricing, not even a tease on performance? Nothing to back up Rajas words about RX Vega being faster than Frontier? Wanna know why? They don't have RX Vega. All they have at this point is the Frontier and good intentions.

Wanna guess availability at end of July? Close to none, and I bet no custom versions either.

I see people are saying this is happening because of HBM2. Even if there is a shortage, they can still create hype and show us things. I mean, they should have one VEGA card for that? Right? :s
I think it's something more serious, cards are bursting to flames from to much power.
There were rumours a few weeks ago in the other thread about HBM2 shortages and Vega delays. They got knocked back but it seems there may be an element of truth in them.

From what i saw, the gameplay overall appeared to be smooth. But there was a lot of tearing, even multiple tears in the same scene. Probably 2 to 3 for the majority of the time.

Meaning the game was likely doing over the monitors refresh rate by a decent amount.

Was disappointing to not see more info though, the event seemed to be more focused on showcasing the Thread ripper platform more than anything.
Why not cap the frame rate to? Did they want it to tear?

I'm so torn.. I want to upgrade my gfx and monitor but don't know if I should hold out for vega and freesync 2..

Should I just go ahead and get a 1080 and g-sync or will I be kicking myself come August

*I don't care for either company, **** all fanboys

buying later will always get you something slightly better or cheaper, but if you want to buy now then it looks like you will be waiting 3-6 months for custom vega cards and monitors can take anywhere up to a year from announcement to actually being on the shelves, so it just becomes a question of whether you can wait that long or just want it now

gsync is already excellent, so I can't really see what freesync2 will be adding that would make it a disappointment in terms of usage, if its HDR that you want then from the announcements so far it looks like gsync HDR is going to be first to market but either way you will still be waiting a little while and the best deals will be on non-HDR monitors on both sides

I'm just thinking... what was the last GFX card from AMD that didn't disappoint a large % of us? Not the 480/580, which caused a lot of disappointment. Not the Fury/X which also failed to excite.

So... maybe the 290? The 390 was a re-brand, and I remember the disappointment that caused.

So I think we can honestly say the 290 was the last card from AMD that delivered and met expectations.

Obviously AMD superfans will say the 580 was a resounding success, etc, etc. Those people are free to live in their own little private reality.

Why give anything away.Gives competitors chance to decrease or increase prices.
You know they could do that either way considering they've been producing their cards for over a year already? Nvidia isn't bothered by Vega and focusing on getting Volta ready.
