Partition your SD Card in Rom manager with a 0mb Swap and a 512mb ext. Once in recovery, do a full wipe and and flash the latest version

I'll give that a go tonight, cheers.
Just ran ROM Manager did a 512mb part, 0mb Swap file, restarted phone and it now just has a droid and an exclamation mark
ps that gingerbread version you linked to is what I have at the moment installed.
I'm trying to root my Nexus S which is on 2.3.4 but I'm having trouble finding a decent guide.
Also I don't have a data cable unfortunately, but can transfer files using Awsome Drop.
If anyone could help in anyway, it would be very much appreciated!![]()
mate pretty sure you will need a cable.. get one from ebay. not heard of rooting without one
You definitely need the cable. £ shop or similar should have micro USB cables I'm suretry there if you can't wait
