The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Ironwarrior, it's BGC, one of the first anime I watched and still one of my favourites, so £65+ taxes isn't too mad :)

pecnarf, it's been sent first class so hopefully :)

£65 seems such a bargain considering the original UK release was £21.99 per episode  How things have changed in the last 20 years :) Now the unbearable wait for the delivery.

Did a little re-watch of the first season of To Heart over the weekend. I like it as a nice little semi-romantic series with such a laid back feel that it's almost horizontal.

Animation is very dated now (originally aired in 1999) and the studio wasn't that good at drawing characters in profile but it's a nice gentle watch with no action/fanservice/etc ...

Had the opportunity to watch the US release of Log Horizon yesterday, neighbour had it for early xmas.
Most VA for the characters were ok but some were:(
Naotsugu had an annoying habit of saying "Dude and hottie" at the least chance
Soujirou sounded like a middle aged guy,not like the Japanese version at all

Worst in my opinion was the guy that played/voiced Nyanta.....sounded like one of the actors from a 70 s Blaxploitation movie :(:(:( sounded soooooo wrong

quality was I thought good,no obvious to me problems same for sound

Yeah I could put up with the other VA but that Nyanta VA :(
Awful just Awful
Doesn`t fit the charector at all

You know what is like the majority of people watch dubbed and it is nearly impossible to get them to watch subbed

I hate having orders in the post at this time of year ... things are so unpredictable.
I had some CDs turn up yesterday and today (4 packages) ... shipped on 25/11 and normally only take 10 days at most ...

I hadn't even registered that there was tracking information!

It's "departed" the airport which I suspect means it's currently in customs, as like yours it arrived in London the 17th, so with luck it might arrive by Christmas.

Yeah, today's dubbed Animes are borderline awful to hear since it's always sounds like some teen from California while using American English for everything.

Make sure to always listen to glorious japanese and read wonderful subtitles in the future.

The only expectations I make is Anime from the 80's to late 90's. A good example of a good dubbed Anime is Hellsing, that was good.

There are a few 'modern' dubs that aren't bad:
Rahxephon, seriously the English is almost as good as Japanese
Vandread aren't bad either, actually prefer Vandread in English, just something about the way dita says 'mr alien' seems better in English.
Appleseed films

On the otherhand... most are dreadful so I will agree always pick Japanese and subs if you can :)

GITS tv series and Cowboy Bebop are very good examples as well

Yeah Vandread and GITS are `good` dubs if there are such a thing:p
Log was no worse than a lot of dubs out there, the `main` irritation for me was Nyanta :(
I was cringing every time he cam on screen

Log Horizon is one I definitely wouldn't even consider in english and that's without trying it out.... anybody with common sense knows an english speaking 'cat person' (Nyanta) just isn't going to work, it's just wrong lol

My BGC turned up today* and no import duties as well. Hopefully will be watching it this evening :)

*my tracking was saying incorrect address this morning. Post lady enquires if I was expecting something from overseas. Turns out the address label was damaged, and could only tell the post code and surname. Sorting office were insisting that it had been returned to sender  almost had a fit. Forced him to go check, and he found it. Very lucky to have seen the post lady this morning :D

It was not so much the `english`part as the southern coloured accent that just sounded soooo wrong :p
