Well hello guys! It's been a while since i posted in this thread and I'm back with a bang!

I have a very special post for you lovely anime fans that can very well change your lives!

This is the Korean Boxset of the first season, it has both English subs and dubs and all the box and slipcover art are 3D lenticular. Only the booklet is non lenticular. This is basically the expensive Japanese set with English dub and half the price.

Oh and despite what it says all over the website, box and dics, it's not region locked and plays perfectly fine on my Region B PS3

Nice ... hmmm very tempting but unfortunately I've just dropped about the same amount of some heavily discounted jpop stuff in a new year sale so can't really justify it at the moment. Pity though as my Panasonic BD players don't seem to like the subtitles on the original DVD release very much at times ...

So both sets from Korea would work out at just above £200, this is less then half the price of the Jap set which would set you back £463 on yesasia

On a side note i watched Ghost In The Shell: Arise 4, starting to feel like the GiTS of old which is great but i still cannot get my head round the Majors new character design, i still hate it, I guess it's because i find the Movie and original TV series Major so attractive and she's so Fugly in the Arise series.

For UK releases normally Amazon. For US releases UP, Rightstuf, Amazon US.

It's the OVA "ultimate" edition blu-ray set that Animeigo did on kickstarter, IIRC they've started selling some copies outside of kickstarter at the moment, but its at a much higher price point (IIRC the Premium set which was 90/100 on kickstarter is 150).
 
I popped down to the Sorting office yesterday, they had indeed got my copy, although there was a £19 customs fee to pay :(

I'm slowly watching Bubblegum Crisis, subbed for a change (it was one of my first anime and I first saw it dubbed, so I have a soft spot for the dub;)), and loving it.
The HD transfer looks great for the age/type of anime it was, and you can read things like the computer screens if you pause it (things like when Nene accesses the records in episode 4, you can read Gibsons record, which is actually populated with a quote from from a book).
It also makes it something like 4 releases I've now got my name on due to pre-ordering or kickstarting :p
The keyring is really nice, and the patch is lovely, although I'm not too fussed with the coin.
 
Thank god this thread is well away from the daily mail types in GD. Imagine if thep02 saw this thread, he would try to report us all to the police!

To be honest given some of the things being posted in that thread and several other, unrelated, threads over the last few months I do have to wonder whether it is worth coming to this forum any more at times. It does seem on several subjects GD seems to be dropping rapidly to the lowest common denominator lynch mob mentality ...
 
I tend to think of it as the same as youtube, some good stuff, surrounded by lots of ignorance!

Still, with some of the media stories you read, I can understand why people who are less informed on subjects can start to develop prejudice against stuff, in many cases unnecessarily.

Same as with video games, media has a funny way of trying to label more niche hobbies as wierd or otherwise; simply put they want to sell so they need to make things seem exciting.
 
Yes, but frankly the level of hostility on a variety of subjects. not just anime, seems to be getting worse as the middle ground seems to disappear and the level of moderation seems to be decreasing at times ...
 
Yeah there are a few with huge post counts in there that seem to get away with anything,veiled insults etc
On a happy note watched the first ova of Strike Witches Operation Victory Arrow last night
More of the same,more like a series episode than the movie
I enjoyed it as I thought it bridged the series to the movie in some small way(Trond base)which i always thought when it was shown in the movie as ??? where did that come from :)
