The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Would anyone recommend an anime with good fights, no futuristic scenery (preferably medieval times)... basically looking for a fantasy anime. :p

I'm tired of animes which are happening inside a 'game' such as SAO, I'm still looking through MAL. But thought it would be worth asking here too, if you people have any other recommendations that don't match the description share them out... I don't just watch one type of anime. :)

Akame Ga Kill

Best fantasy weapon fights scenes I have seen, and great series to boot!

Watching Stein Gate, 7 eps in....what on earth is this about?

Still no antagonist, just a bunch of geeks hypothesising time travel?

Keep going, slow, confusing start, but it REALLY picks up from 12 onwards, loving it.

Any good films worth watching?

Recently I've seen / rewatched:

Ponyo
Spirited Away
Whisper of the Heart
The Wind Rises
My Neighbor Totoro
Kiki's Delivery Service

Given that list i'd say:

Howl's Moving Castle
Laputa Castle in the Sky
Porco Rosso
The Cat Returns
From Up On Poppy Hill
edit: Journey to Agartha
Steamboy

If you want something slightly different
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time
Summer Wars
5 centimetres per second
Patema Inverted

I wouldn't necessarily include Ocean Waves nor Only Yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I personally like both of them a lot, especially Ocean Waves, but they are very different both in content as well as pacing. It'd be a bit of a coin toss whether Spacedeck would like them given what was listed.

Arrietty is not one of the best Ghibli films but holds a certain place in my heart (I grew up near the house the original book is based in). Last time I was near it I noticed the local council had done some street art relating to it, by way f painted shadows for some posts which included a cat leaning against the shadow post and little figures on the top of the shadow post (unless you're looking you'll miss it, and unless you know the area you won't get the reference).

I'd wholeheartedly second memyselfandi and most of andarial's suggestions.

Just recently started getting into Anime and originally started with Kancolle (which im currently playing the web browser game for the last few months). About 3-4 weeks ago watched Girls Und Panzer and again loved that as I did Kancolle as they are immensely easy to watch for a noob like myself

I was recommended this so on Saturday I polished off all 13 episodes of Gate, back to back and I'm loved it so much but cant wait until next weeks episode.

In the last 24 hours i've polished off 25 episodes of Fate Zero (back to back on my day off) and absolutely loved the story, the artwork, everything! I'm due to blitz through Fate/Stay night this coming weekend.

here some shows you might like

strike witch
outbreak conpany
overlord
Arpeggio of Blue Steel - Ars Nova
Amagi Brilliant Park
Accel World
fate stay night - unlimited blade works
Arslan Senki

[*]harem comedy: to love ru or rosario to vampire
[/LIST]

There are far better Harem Anime out there, Season 1 of To Love Ru was fine but Season 2 was a mess and Season 3 goes off in a strange tangent.

My personal recommendations are:

Oh My Goddess! (Watch the movie AFTER the 2 seasons)
Love Hina (Watch the Christmas OVA to wrap up the story)

Which are both bonafide classics.

Other good ones in my opinion

Freezing
High School DxD
Sora no Otoshimono: Forte
IS: Infinite Stratos
High School of the Dead

Some of the them are a bit Ecchi but to be frank if you're watching Harem Anime then a bit of titillation is all part of it and part of what the reason you may be watching it

Will they have a larger selection than Crunchyroll?

It would depend on how much of their catalogue Funi have the rights to stream here.
If they were to put up some of the older titles they inherited from the likes of Bandai and ADV it could be quite a lot.

Re Love Hina and Oh My Goddess, definitely classics, although I think both the original OVA/Movie and TV series of OMG have aged better than Love Hina in terms of animation (and the LH music whilst I used to not mind it, the op/end drove me nuts last time I watched it).

Thanks. I saw AoT when it came out, loved it. I'll check those other ones out.

Other stuff I liked in the past... Cowboy Bebop, FMA, Eva, Trigun, GiTS.

I finished Elfen Lied over the weekend and I'm not sure I liked it really. Perhaps it was too philosophical for me or just too gratuitously violent. I found it hard to sympathise with Lucy-san!

Indeed, it will be interesting to see what they are offering ... although given how little I watch on my Crunchyroll account I'll probably struggle to justify a subscription.

Love Hina and OMG ... very much classics and I agree that Love Hina does look it's age now ... although I do still think it is a good starter series for that genre of anime (the manga's not bad either). Haven't watched either of them in ages so I'll have to look at correcting that when i have the time ...

Yeah Oh My Goddess has superb animation, must have cost an absolute bomb, particularly for it's time and hence it aged much better. But Love Hina was the classic that all others copied from for years.
