The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

short and sweet and I think they can get away with another series quite easily. How long running was the original manga?

Ongoing. There's the webcomic, which is the true original version, and then Yusuke Murata (who previously drew Eyeshield 21) is redrawing the webcomic "professionally".

There's basically one full arc after the events of the anime, with a few little mini arcs/stories, but it's a really long arc. The anime covered about chapters 1-40 of the webcomic, and the new arc takes about 41-95.

The thing with OPM is that progress is slow, because the webcomic author also draws a weekly serialised manga called Mob Psycho 100 (which is also getting an anime release soon), so OPM is basically updated whenever he can.

I personally love it, and don't think it gets boring or repetitive. The thing is he's made a world with all these other heroes. Of course if it were just Saitama, it would get boring because he's clearly overpowered, but really Saitama becomes a bit more of a trump card while we see the other heroes in action.

Hi all.. need help with some show suggestions. I've not watched any Anime for a long time and wanted to get back into it.

Looking for a good cross section of shows to get me started. Something like an Updated Lodoss War, Bubblegum Crisis, Appleseed etc should be ideal (Already have Ghost in the Shell). Ideally looking for a good show in each genre to see what takes my fancy.

Ideally look for a good Fantasy show, a good Cyberpunk type of show, good mystical/Magic, Sci-Fi, etc etc.

Thanks.

I watched Akami Ga Kill or something like that. I found it a bit cheesy but I quite enjoyed it. I've only seen FMA and Elfen Lied as well. I prefer the weird ones I think, Death note was good as well.

Duude what is this? Looks like Dragonball but is that the hidden leaf village emblem on his gi?

If you enjoyed Death Note, watch Death Parade ! Very good

http://myanimelist.net/anime/28223/Death_Parade

Thanks. It's on my list.

Finally finished Death Note, after all this time! What an incredible Anime, so deep, so thought worthy, with brilliant characters. I've never seen an Anime like it before, just a shame what happened to Kira at the end. I really liked the guy :mad:

That might be a bit spoilery mate if someone hasn't seen as now they'll know what to expect :)

fate stay night... both normal and unlimited versions should fit your lodoss and fantasy ideals.

I'd say look at the following too, I like most of what you listed
Gundam - take your pick although personally I like build fighters and 00 best
Code Geass
Claymore
Berserk
gurren lagann
Rahxephon
Fullmetal Alchemist (there's two versions)

Suggesting something for every genre will take forever... search the thread though as we've done similar several times already.

I'd also honestly suggest heading over to crunchyroll and taking a look at what they have streaming/listed (fair few are free to stream at lower res these days) and go from there

here small list

black lagoon
Jormungand
sword art online
Tokyo ghoul
attack on titans
knights of sidonia

update here few more

Aldnoah Zero
OverLord
Arslan Senki
Gate Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri
Log Horizon
Utawarerumono
TERRA FORMARS
Sliver spoon
baby steps

Watched Anthem of the Heart last night.

Originally I had been going to watch it as part of the Japan Foundation traveling film festival just before Easter but work reasons meant that didn't get around to being able to see it then ... but then I saw the Japanese media release was 30/3 and had English subtitles. So when I was in Tokyo last week I picked up a copy from one of the second hard stores in Akihabara.

Overall I thought that the film was quite good. The characters were quite good but the story was a but light overall.

Story sounds like something I would like :)
Will be keeping an eye out for this

My small collection of Anime, as you can tell i have a very varied taste of stuff, currently making my way through Fairy Tail, not as hardcore as some I've seen but a decent fast paced long running series, which isn't as predictable.

Started watching hunterxhunter over weekend and got addicted. Now 25 eps in and finished the final exam. Great anime.

Not sure if i should switch to hunterxhunter 2011 now as ive heard the second arc onwards is better on the newer version?

Aye looks like Plex.

Amazon Prime and Netflix both seem to have a reasonable amount of anime on them if you've got a sub for them :) (Kabanari of the Iron Fortress looks very good so far).
