The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Check the episode count on that one, it looks like it's the Japanese release with only 1 or 2 episodes per disc.

If you can wait I think the series has been licensed for release in the US (by Viz) which will be much cheaper, although there may be some trade off with the picture quality (probably not much though).

The amount I pay for anime varies a lot, the most I've paid for a single disc was something like £50 for 4 episodes (about once in 16 years and over a thousand orders), but at the other end of the scale it's been as low as £10 for 26 episodes.

I've never bought anything from CDjapan etc as I tend to get the US/UK/Aus releases which are always cheaper than the Japanese ones (which are usually insanely expensive).

I'm currently watching Cowboy Bebop for the first time in a few years, this time on BD and I'm still loving it :) although I'd forgotten how far into the series it gets before the whole crew is assembled.
It's fun reading some of the background text that is now legible on the higher res transfer.

I also had the Makoto Shinkai set arrive, it's been in my pre-orders since at least May 2013 but worth the wait, especially as i got it for £13 :D

Except the primary market for Anime absolutely love having the physical media and extras which is used to get enough sales to pay for the production for the Anime. This is also why general CD sales are also so strong still in Japan.

Streaming is all well and good until you internet goes down and you want to watch something or until the streaming platform doesn't have what you want to watch available anymore (or it is only available on one of the other of the multitude of streaming platforms which you don't have access too).

/mutters some very very rude things about flixter video which has a 50% chance of deciding my password isn't right and then refusing to accept a password reset every time I want to use it*

Physical copies are my preferred choice for anything I may want to watch again, if just because you cna't rely on the streaming services to still have the content in 6 months, be available when you want it, still be in business or you're stuck if your internet is down.

*A few weeks back I spent about 2 hours over the weekend trying to sort it, only to get told when I sent a message to the help system "oh yeah the system is having problems with accounts" - they didn't think to put a message up, and it took about another 3 days before I could log in (with my original password), and it's doing it again this weekend (but with a "user not found" when I submit a new password using the link the reset email gives me)

I'm currently watching Samurai Flamenco and finding myself laughing quite a lot in places (it's taken a few unexpected turns as well), and it's the slightly rare thing in anime for me at the moment, one I've been able to sit down and watch 2 or 3 episodes at a time without getting distracted,

I'd like to see Your Name at the cinema, but the only showing near me is once a day and at a bad time due to family/health.

Cheers, I didn't know about that and snagged the Tokyo Esp set last night after seeing your post.

Today they've got the new Space Dandy complete set pre-order for £20 (I picked up the previous releases for about £20 each a while back)..

Samurai Flamenco part one is today's alltheanime offer at a tenner, half the price I paid for my copy in an amazon deal about a month ago.
It had me laughing and thinking it was so silly it was a lot of fun, although it does have some darker/more serious bits.

Bragonball is one of those series that I know on sight, and know a lot of the names but never actually watched by choice (I think I caught a couple of episodes with my nephew about 10 years ago).

Does anyone have a link to a list of alltheanime's collectors editions? (in an easy to view format)
The offer today is 5 staff picks for £40 on BD, but I suspect I've got many of them already (given i've got the likes of durarara, Baccanno, Samurai Flamenco, Perfect Blue, wings of honnêamise).

Whilst animeonline have a Bakemonogatari Part 1 & 2 Bundle on BD for £12

Ok I've spent a few minutes going through the alltheanime catalogue on their site and these appear to be the Blu-ray titles with Collectors editions that they have in stock, I've added a note for the ones I think are very unlikely to be in the mystery box.

We can rule out the following because they've already been on offer.
tokyo esp
Space Dandy complete
Sword Art Online 2
Samurai Flamenco part 1
Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya

and taking into account the following

There will be a mixture of offers on already released titles and pre-orders for upcoming releases.

Any offer for an already released title will have a set amount of units available - this will be made clear in the listing itself - on a first come first served basis.

*DELIVERY OF ORDERS AS PART OF THIS PROMOTION*
Please allow up to 72 hours (excluding weekends) from when you place an order as part of our 12 Days of Christmas Promotion for dispatch. You will receive notification when it has been shipped.

NOTE 1: If you include products in your order they will likely be shipped separately.
NOTE 2: Pre-order products will be dispatched in time for day of release (or sooner if possible)

We know some of you may want to try and budget for these offers, so we thought we'd give you a little helping hand. If you were wanting to partake in every single offer we have over the 12 days, if you're wanting to purchase Blu-rays you would be spending a total of £405.00*, and if you're wanting DVD you'd be spending £120*. On average you're saving 50% of retail price across the board.
(*May be subject to change, but certainly won't be more than that.)

There will be no title on offer that will have been released after April 2016 - though this may not be the case for any promotions during this time that may be a bundle style offer, such as the mystery box offer on day 12 (read about that below)

NOTE - The final offer of our 12 Days of Christmas promotion is the Ltd Collector's Edition Mystery Box offer!

By purchasing this you will receive 5 Ltd Collector's Edition sets that we (Anime Limited) have released. You DO NOT get to choose which sets you will receive.

There is a set list of titles that will be included in each box - titles DO NOT differ between each Ltd Collector's Edition Mystery box purchased.
A title has been selected by each member of the Anime Limited team, making that 5 titles that will be included.

NOTE - Some of the Collector's Edition sets included will have Blu-ray and DVD discs, some will be Blu-ray only.

possibles from what I can see based on them having collectors/limited editions and still having stock.
re:cyborg009
a letter to momo
Aldnoah.Zero Season (unlikley due to release date and cost)
Assassination Classroom Season 1 Part 1 (unlikley due to release date and cost)
Blood Lad - Collector's Blu-Ray Set
Expelled From Paradise - Blu-ray+DVD Ltd Collector's Edition (unlikely due to release date)
Fuse memoirs of the hunter girl
Gankutsuou - The Count Of Monte Cristo
Giovanni's Island (seems very unlikely due to RRP of the ultimate set)
HAL - Collector's Edition Combi-pack
Kill La Kill (there are 3 collectors sets, although it seems very unlikely to me)
Lord Marksman
Lucky Star (seems very unlikely)
Miss Hokusai - Ultimate Edition Blu-ray/DVD (seems very unlikely)
Noein: To Your Other Self - Blu-ray Limited Collector's Edition (the manga DVD set of this didn't do well from memory)
Patema Inverted - Collector's Edition
Ping Pong The Animation - Blu-ray/DVD Collector's Edition (unlikely due to release date and rrp)
Psychic School Wars - Blu-ray/DVD Ltd. Collector's Edition (unlikely due to release date)
Wings Of Honneamise - Collector's Edition DVD/Blu-ray

I'm tempted to give it a punt, but I've already got several of the films and pretty much expect Wings or Patema to be in the bundle.

[edit]
I'm an idiot, I've gone for it on the basis that there is enough there I haven't got that even just getting two items not already in my collection would probably pay for the box (and any duplicates will likely go to a good home).

Aye, I suspect it'll be mainly films and some of their early releases in the box, although what I've marked as unlikely are just my personal opinions given what they've posted about releases after April 2016 (unless as part of bundle or box).

That is an awesome selection, and I've not got any of them! (well I've got the old Pioneer Gankutsuou set on DVD).
Indeed I've been looking at "Expelled from Paradise" and "Aldnoah Zero" but kept putting them off.

I'm really (pleasantly) surprised at that, hopefully mine will arrive today.

Anime On Line's offers at the moment are pretty good, although for the last few days I think I've had most of them already (the samurai and vampire bundles were both a case of me having three out of the four titles in them).

[edit]
Just seen there is going to be a new "3x3 eyes" manga next year, that's a blast from the past :) (I still live in hope that some day we'll see more of it as anime).

I've not seen Blood C, but Blood + is roughly based on the same manga from memory (as is Blood the last Vampire), and is good :)

I received my box from Alltheanime through a few minutes ago, so I'm a happy Wolfy :)

Talking of mystery boxes, animeonline.co.uk are doing one today for £50 (for the BD version they're doing a DVD one cheaper), which will be 5 season one, or part 1 sets,l I'm tempted but I've got much of MVM's catalogue and given my TV was being a bit weird last night* I'm holding off any more anime buying for a while.

*It's about 8 and a half years old.

Little heads up, there are a bunch of all the anime titles going up on offer on Amazon at around 19:45 (for prime, 30 minutes later for non prime customers), they're amix of BD and DVD sets, some collectors editions.

Royal Space Force collectors edition (great film currently £18 on Zavvi), Kill La Kill vol 2 collectors edition, space dandy, blood lad, and gurrent lagaan (dvd collectors edition).
Remember to check prices on other retailers though, I've noticed Amazon's deals aren't always the best price.

I've just been watching Expelled from Paradise which was pretty good, the animation seemed a little off at times but overall was good, the story enjoyable and the characters fun.
I liked the bit at the end after the credits.;)
I wonder if they left it open a bit for a possible sequel or TV series.as it felt like they could carry on with additional stories quite easily.

I managed to squeeze in Fuse: Memoirs of the huntress over the last couple of days as well, which was good and going in blind I had no idea what it was about so that was fun :) (normally when I buy anime I at least have a rough idea of what it's about).

Next up is probably going to be Aldnoah.Zero which is another blind buy :)
