The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

I hear you there. I'll often watch them a few times and then skip them. Unless I really like the tune or the anime in which case I'll watch it more often.

And yes Shiki was pretty decent!

Clannad as a whole is one of my favourite series of all time, but I agree that you need to take it and After Story as a whole rather than just considering each series seperately. Because of when it was released I ended up spending way, way to much on it really (I own the Japanese limited edition DVDs and Blu-ray boxes as well as a couple of western releases). It is good to watch Air, Kanon (2006) and Clannad/ClannadAS in that order as you can see KyoAni working out how to best balance the comedy and emotional balance through the series across the three titles.

Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya was great as well ... personally I even enjoy the Endless Eight sequence despite the general hatred at the time as each episode is different and you need to watch them to get the gradual realisation of what is going on.

I'm really at the stage where I don't think I can make a top 10 .... if I try then as soon as I make any list I look at it I think "what about xxxxx?". Also a lot of series are not really comparible. I could say A**a, Maria-sama ga Miteru, To Heart, Anohana, Hanasaku Iroha, Full Metal Panic, The Girl Who Leapt Through Space .... but then I could drop 15-20 series which I like just as much. I have literally added two more titles to the above since I typed it.

The concept of the endless eight was interesting, and yes there were some differences, but I do think it would have been better as like 4 episodes instead of 8, would get the meaning across 95% as well at the saving of 4 episodes. There were some minor differences, and I watched them all as I don't tend to go looking for spoilers or watch orders in too much depth, so it dawned on me fairly quick but I was too deep down the rabbit hole to stop!

A definitive top 10 is hard I think, but I suppose that's why my top 10 turned into a sort of top 20, and there are certainly others I'd add if I had more slots. Anything I've given 8/10 or more to is basically great to me and worth a recommend/watch.

I'm near the end of Moriarty the Patriot at the moment and it's really good, I like how we see the classic Sherlock tale but more from the Moriarty side than the Sherlock one, and it's pretty dark. I'm also doing Ergo Proxy which is good too, but not far along on it yet only 6-7 eps in.

I tend to only buy blurays and these days collectors editions where I can for the shows I like.

I'm eyeing up a couple on all the anime that I'd like to get.

Promised Neverland Season 1 set looks good (and no there was no Season 2) https://www.alltheanime.com/collect...promised-neverland-blu-ray-collectors-edition

Noein maybe but not seen it so unsure if I'd like it: https://www.alltheanime.com/collect...s/noein-to-your-other-self-blu-ray-collectors

Otherwise seeing what early bird ones they do.

In the end I bought the TPN S1 CE I linked above, and the Kakegurui S1 CE that was the ATA EB today.

Note for people on Kakegurui they couldn't get the Netflix dub for some reason, so it's a brand new Sentai one. For me not an issue as I am sub only, but some people I could see this being an issue for, as the Sentai dub is widely thought of as being not as good.

Hah. I think I am in the same boat regards the whole top 5/10/20 thing. The conversation last night kinda sums that up. I've seen so many things, many of them good (as I tried to filter out a lot of stuff that wasn't so good before I watched it, or an episode or two in); that trying to definitively give a top XX is just impossible as it varies dependant on my mood. Toradora and Spice and Wolf are the only ones that are consistently in every list I do, simply as I think both are sublime, and there is a massive sweet spot in my heart. (There is a canvas wall art from the series sitting behind me right now, although it'll be going back into storage once my family finishing moving as I don't have anywhere to display it right now). Planetes is another that just came to mind, genuinely fantastic but completely forgot it yesterday.

I watched Ergo Proxy years ago; it's interesting but I was never as fond of it as others at the time seemed to be.

One on my imminent 'To Watch' (as I am clearing a load of older discs) is Cowboy Bebop, never properly watched it (I know, I know, it just never quite happened!), and given I have the discs sitting there, and the Netflix adaptation just came out; now seems as as good a time as any to watch it and the adaptation and see how I feel it's aged etc. I think its one or two shows further in my disc selection.

Just finished House of Five Leaves in a little spare time this morning; the art style is interesting; the show I guess I can think of I could compare it to most would probably be maybe Katanagatari, BUT it's not really like that either. Very interesting show though that slowly spells out it's plot. Not a top tenner, and one I probably won't watch again, but I'm glad I watched it. It's an old BEEZ release so kinda sums up how long I'd had it sat around; they went out of business roughly a decade ago.

I also kind of need to watch Cowboy Bebop, I tried once before but I think I dislike "space cowboy" as a genre so I didn't get to the end. I didn't like Firefly either and a lot of people swear by that.

I need to try Baccano again sometime as well, but it was just so insane and introduced about 50 characters all at once, that it was just confusing more than actually being good.

Katanagatari I tried but didn't get past episode 1, I couldn't fathom how the same guy who made the interesting dialogue in Monogatari could make the boring dialogue in Katanagatari, but there we go, in the end I dropped it not sure I'll bother coming back to try again, didn't seem like my kind of show either.

Cowboy Beebop was literally the first anime TV series which I watched!

In fact I just checked Amazon, I can still see I ordered volume 3 of the Beez Ent release on 24th March 2005!

Baccano is one that I bounced off very hard the first time I tried to watch it, the second time a while later had me loving it.

I received my ATA mystery boxes yesterday, some really fun titles in there, even if I've got many of them already:)
