The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

A quick heads up for anyone that pre-ordered arriety, there is now a deluxe double play version available for pre-order for the same price:)

I changed my order for the blu-ray to the double play/deluxe set last night :)

Afternoon all :)

I watched Eden of the East: Paradise Lost last night which I thought was very good, although I was a bit disappointed in some says, but the ending was pretty good.
Although Saki and Takizawa didn't get to stay together, Takizawa did retain his memories at the end, and it's open enough that after the end credits they may meet up again. The meeting between him and "the outsider" was good, with a quite unexpected bit.

I'm about to crumble and place an order with TRSI for their 12 days sale....

my finger slipped.
About 25 times....

Fortunately that included the entry of my CC details.

I ordered Nanako 6/17, Fumoffu blu (it's AB coded from what I can make out), Sorcerer Hunters and Diamon Daydreams.

I may place an order for FMP Blu but I'm not sure, so far I've been pretty good though:)

ROD is one that I would possibly buy again, but despite really liking it, I haven't actually watched it again in ages :(

I also caved in and ordered FMP the first series from Amazon.com, as it was only about £16 all in for the blu set, but that is the last anime order this year
unless something really good pops up and my will power fades.

I've not managed to watch much anime the past week or so, but I did get my Spice and Wolf v5 through this morning, as well as the Full Metal Panic Blu-ray collection I ordered cheap from Amazon last week.
I was surprised that it arrived in about 4-5 days and was delivered by DHL despite me only paying the basic international shipping charge.

I've not managed to watch much anime recently (starting to become annoying now), but I have managed to watch the first 6 or so episodes of FMP on blu-ray which is as good as I remember it being, and looks good on blu-ray.

I don't know if it's been mentioned here yet, but unfortunately it looks like TRSI have changed the way they mark packages which could mean we get a lot more charges :(

I think they've had to make their customs declarations clearer so are sending their shipping company the full details with a price per item now (from what I can make out).
I've just had a letter from Parcel Force dated 6 days ago* asking for a fee to free my package :(

I've made the suggestion in the fandompost trsi thread that if they're having to make a change that makes it much more likely we'll get hit for customs, it might be worth them looking at offering DHL as a delivery method.
It won't save us any money, but the extra will go towards faster, better tracked shipping rather than the PF/RM hostage fee (DHL only charge a £1.25/2% fee for handling customs).

*They state they'll only hold the package for 20 days from the date on the letter, so they've eaten up a good portion of that with the letter.

That E7 news sounds good :)
I really liked the TV series, but have yet to read the manga, despite having had it for over a year (I seem to sit on Manga for ages before reading it - I've got the CCS manga as well, and it took me about 9 months to read welcome to the nhk).

I finished FMP, I forget how much fun/how good some series are when I haven't seen them for a while, and have started on Arakawa under the bridge.
I'm debating picking up a bli-ray drive for the PC in the new year if I can use the same drive but different software for A and B titles:) (or can easily change the software region).

I'm slowly making my way through Arakawa under the Bridge, mainly because I don't have the concentration to read the subs by the time I get the chance :(
It took me a couple of episodes to get into it, but I'm enjoying it quite a bit.

Next up is probably going to be School Rumble (I've got Utena set 3, but as that's definitely a sub watch I'm holding off that for a bit).

[edit]
My love Hina omnibus volume 2 arrived this morning (I AM going to have to clear my manga backlog*), and Amazon have Volume 4 up for pre-order for £7

*For some reason I can read a normal book in a few days, but I've got Manga volumes that have been on the shelf for over a year (CCS, Eureka 7 etc)

so wait
the Omnibus editions include 3 of the manga books? ie 1 is 1,2 and 3 then 2 is 4, 5 and 6?
may have to get that if so, GF has books 1-6 but the rest went out of print before we could get em!

Yup, it's about 3 volumes of the original manga per omnibus, at less than the cost of a single volume of the originals :)

I always meant to get the LH manga, but like a lot of the longer running stuff the price and availability of the (often many) previous volumes would scare me off.

That news about bandai is a surprise and a real shame :(
They were one of the last of the original anime/dvd companies in the US and it's going to be a shame to see them going to just acting as a licence broker :(

I think that is pretty much all the "old guard" of anime companies in the US out of the direct releasing/bust/no longer doing new stuff - I think only Media Blasters is left out of the old group:( (ADV - bankrupt, reincarnated, animeago - no longer licensing and letting licenses expire, Pioneer/Geneon - pulled out acting as license dealer, Central Park Media - Bust).

On a less depressing note, I'm almost at the end of Arakawa Under the Bridge, which started off with me feeling a little cold towards it, but I'm really enjoying it now :)
I'm a bit stuck on what to watch next as i've got
Sorcerer Hunters
School Rumble S1 and 2
Diamond Daydreams
FMP: Fumoffu
Nanaka 6/17
And arriving tomorrow the UK release of Bebop remastered :)

I may go School Rumble.

ah heck :(

That's a kicker and a shame as they were doing reasonable well :(
I think I'll have to have a look at what they were releasing and see what I hadn't got yet.

I guess it's probably not a real surprise given what's happened in the US, but it's a real shame if true :( (I wonder if that fire at the storage facility had anything to do with the decision, as I'd imagine the loss of the stock even if insured affected their bottom line).

Cheers for the headsup on the fandompost, from what little i can make out, it sounds like their server went badly wrong, I thought it was running slow/there was something wrong the other day but thought it was just slow.
re-regged now :)

Re Beez, I'd forgotten that thir head guy had moved to Kaze, so possibly not so surprising given everything else, still sad to see them go :(
It means we're down to Manga, MVM and Kaze now from memory :(

I think that deserves some fowl language, if you'll excuse me for a moment.
Hen, duck, Turkey. Goose.

That feels better ;)

Seriously that's annoying to say the least, but it possibly explains why some of the sub licenses Madman and Manga have been doing have been kept waiting for materials, if Bandai haven't even been working on them at their end:(
It would be nice if Madman and Manga could source the HD materials and soundtracks themselves to author the discs (IIRC Madman have stated several times they often license directly from the Japanese who then supply the English tracks/translations from the US), but that seems unlikely for what is a fairly niche release, unlike GITS 2 where they knew the market for something that wasn't available in the US was in the UK/Auz (when they actually got the GITS:SAC cast to do the dub).

I got Whisper and Arrietty the other day, which I plan to watch ASAP :)

Demonix, that's not good news at all from MB :(
I think they were pretty small to begin with so it could well mean they are down to a handful of staff now :(
Mind you, unlike Bandai from memory MB have a LA action arm like Animeago, and do some other stuff as well (I think for example they do hentai under a different label).

Aye that's about what i've read in the past day or so regarding MB (I knew they did hentai and la under other labels but can never remember which studio has what labels).

I think looking back over the last year or so the boss at MB has seen something like this possibly coming, as from memory they now have an anime related store as well (and I think used to do DVD/vhs rental of obscure titles if I'm thinking of the right DVD adverts), so have tried to diversify as much as possible so they don't have all their eggs in the one basket, doing on a smaller scale what TRSI have long since done, and MVM do here.
