The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

I quite liked Welcome to the NHK, although I think the Manga was better than the animé, but it does from memory require the right frame of mind to watch it.

I had to laugh earlier, my younger brother who is not a great animé fan asked me if i'd got "suzimaharuhi, sorry Suzimia Haruhi"* that he could borrow, then when we were in the car goes "is that redline?" when my mp3 player started one of the redline tracks :)
I'm slowly, very slowly converting him to the side of the green hair and overly large eyes :p

*he deliberately mispronounces animé names when he's talking to one of his friends.

I finally managed to watch Utena the Movie last night, which was very good I thought, although it missed out some major bits from the TV series it seemed to flow well and was different enough (whilst keeping the same basic story) to be very enjoyable to watch :)

I think the ending was a bit more definite than the TV one :)

Tonight I start on a little birdy ;)

I don't know if anyone is interested, but it looks like both the Patlabor and CCS releases from Madman are on hold for now for some reason (possibly problems getting hold of materials?), but they say they are hoping to get it sorted soon.

BD source materials?

/looks very interested...

I can always live in hope:p
I've actually been reading the CCS omnibus editions over the last week or so (having had them since release), as I've needed something light and amusing that I can pick up and put down:)

argh don't mention Tenchi

I keep wanting to rewatch it, and that's bad - I have all the DVD's for the TV series etc and most of the spinoffs, but no time to watch my current stuff:p

Tenchi is a bit of a classic, I like the OVA's the most, GXP is fun if slightly sillier than the main stories, Sasamis it the weakest of the lot.
A lot of people seem to hate Tokyo, I think because they changed the basic story the most for it, as well as the art (they also introduced a new main non tenchi character).

memyselfandi, are you sure your ryohoki special tin isn't just the third set of OVA's?
IIRC they came in a tin as a SE both in the US and UK :) (and by the looks of it, TRSI have vol 3 of ova 3 with the tin for just $5 - tempting to order a couple for the rest of the OVA's etc).

If only for the sheer number of cuts they apparently made for broadcast ... (see here but there will likely be many spoilers)

IIRC it's been on Sci-fi (largely uncut from memory) back in the earl 00's or possibly late 90's, and then on CNX/Cartoon Network which had the cuts but not all the "digital bikinis" (at least for the later showings).

I can't even try to remember how many times I've seen the first couple of OVA's now, as it's been so long:p

memyselfandi has pretty much summed it up with regards to tenchi, unfortunately a lot of Genon/Pioneer's catalogue is still not back out (and some likely never will:().

From memory I ended up having trouble getting Universe and Tokyo when I went after them a couple of years back.

I would love to see some sort of mega pack sometime :)
24 or so discs isn't that many for a LE package...:p

I've actually had a chance to watch some Anime the past few days :)
I'm on Moribito Guardians of the Spirit, which I'm really enjoying (cheers for the heads up Alex).

I've also been reading more manga in the past few weeks than in the past couple of years, mainly because I've needed something I can pick up and enjoy in small bursts :)
I've gone through CCS, Eureka 7, and now on Oh My Goddess (I ordered the first ten volumes, but getting the rest is going to cost a fortune - they're up to volume 400 or something).

Nimdok, I was a bit surprised to see Ergo Proxy was OOP when I went to get it a while back :(
Hopefully it's one of the titles that will see a rerelease, as I think it's one of the Pioneer/Geneon titles that is in limbo, but was probably popular enough for someone to rescue it (and then hopefully MVM to get a licence again).

yay :D
Although I've still not read past book 2 (despite having them all so far).

I've got the UK S1 set on pre-order as well:)

I actually managed to watch some Anime the other night!
The new blu0ray of Roujin Z which was great fun to watch again, I think the last time I watched it was when I picked up the old CPM DVD which had pretty poor PQ.

I'll probably be ordering the nadesico rerelease from nozomi, as although I've got two copies they are the UK and Aus versions which were based on the original ADV releases (they rereleased with changed sign subs).

I got my Spice & Wolf set through yesterday as well :D

I've got the first two or three original ADV US volumes (with the overlays) and the last complete collection they released (without the overlays), but since the nozomi release has remastered video alongside the gekigangar 3 OVA then it's a instant pre-order (longside the long list of other pre-orders I made around the same time that was listed on UP)

I've just spotted it at up1 after your post, and ordered (I think this will be my third or 4th time for the series*), which is helping make september expensive for discs :p
I've also got James Bond and a couple of other series on pre-order :p

P.S.
I had Spice and Wolf novel 6 arrive this morning, rather unexpected as I hadn't received a shipping email (that arrived this afternoon).

I've started on Angel Beats, which so far is very enjoyable and I couldn't quite place the style until I spotted the Key/Visual name in the credits ;)(blind buy because someone suggested it).

I also managed to watch Welcome to the Space Show which was fun, it sort of reminded me of Summer Wars meets Ghibli (I also spotted a little R2D2 in the creche scene:p).

Brotherhood is the remake/newer version, iirc the original series was done before the manga was finished, so goes off on a tangent (I've only seen the first half of Brotherhood and whilst it shared some story parts with the first series, they were different).

IIRC Brotherhood is coming out soon in a complete collection for around £50.

It's UK, up on various websites, and DVD only I'm afraid.

It turns out I was one of only about 20 people to buy the first two blu ray sets (about half the series), and Manga decided against releasing any more of it on Blu, even as a complete set.
Hence I've only seen about half of it:p
