The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

I ended up ordering Violet Evergarden from ATA's offer.

I'm desperately trying to catch up on my anime at the moment, as I've still got a few bits left over from last December, Utena, Rayearth, Cop craft, Newgame and a bunch of other ones from this year.

I just watched the Love Live Movie courtesy of Screen Anime/ATA and it's really fun, tinged a bit with sadness as the characters get ready to do what they'd talked about at the end of the second season, but such fun, I was sat through most of it with a huge grin on my face just enjoying it.

The way it's laid out also makes it feel very much like a classic western/hollywood musical.

I guess I'm going to have to cave and get Love Live Sunshine at some point now, so I can watch that as well:p

Just watched the ATA stream about their Christmas sale, apparently they've changed fufillment to hopefully deal with things better, and a bunch of announcements for titles that will go up for order.

My rough notes:
Mystery boxes one box only for blu ray £45 day 1, another will be DVD only (didn't catch the cost).

Full metal panic invisible victory with artbook, "very merry Christmas" audio drama.

Millennium Actress 4k, poster and booklet.

kill la kill complete series.

Children of the sea collectors edition. booklet and pseudo documentary

Planetes 24 page booklet, original extras, extra ones from Japanese release like the va of hachimaki taking a trip to jaxa

sword are: gun gale online complete release.

K: collectors edition whole first season, booklet

Erased complete set

summer days with coo, collectors edition with poster, booklet and 12 page booklet.

re:Zero complete series 1 with booklet.

cybercity oedo 808 collectors edition, remastered blu-ray, all extras, manga uk dub, ost, 52 page booklet with interviews and inf

Ah, sorry, it's Alltheanime's stream they did with details of what they're doing for their 12 days of Christmas this year, these are all either new announcements or new releases that will be going up for order (one a day) during that period, along with any other deals.

Some of them are titles they've announced previously, and some are new.

So Full Metal Panic Invisible Victory (FMP S4) which IIRC they announced ages ago is getting a release with an artbook and a 3rd blu-ray which will have the Japanese audio drama/audio book with subs and pictures which bridges the gap between S3 and S3. It's the only English release of the audio drama.

Millennium Actress which I can't remember if they'd previously announced they had the licence, is getting it's UK blu-ray release with both a normal and 4k one in the set (and i think the new US dub), with a poster and booklet

Cybercity 808 which I don't think they'd announced and IIRC hasn't got a US blu-ray release, is remastered with all the original extras, the original UK dub, an OST CD, and a booklet with interviews and information about the production.

Planetes is getting it's first blu-ray release, with all the original extras from Beeez/Bandai, and some that were on the Japanese release including one where the VA for one of the characters visited the Japanese Space agency. I think they mentioned this will be 24fps rather than the original 30fps apart from the titles, which should mean it's a much better picture as IIRC there was some conversion done to get it to 30fps for the NTSC broadcast and DVD, and then when we got the UK DVD's it was originally converted from 30 to 25fps which is never ideal.

Summer Days with Coo, which I don't know anything about, but will be a collectors edition.

Re Zero S1, Erased, and Kill la Kill are basically full season releases where they were previously multi part releases.

No idea on pricing but I'm going to hazard a guess at around £40rrp for the films (probably discounted to £20-25), and maybe an RRP of 50-70 (down to £30-40ish for the pre-orders) for FMP, Palanetes and Cybercity and the others.

Watching the Alltheanime.com panel about the 12 days of christmas sale and I'm slightly relieved that some of the prices are less than I'd feared, but also concenred that it looks like i'll get betting at least 7 probably 8 of their announced things...(which is worrying as I've still got stuff from last December to watch!)
They're doing 15% off your first 12 days order for their screen anime annual subscribers (10% off as normal after that), 10% off for the first order for people who sign up to the newsletter as well.

Details are here.

I've been watching Tamako Market which was very good, fun and typically Kyoto Animation :)
Lupin the Third Fjiko Miine on Screen Anime which was fun (I marathoned most of their lupin stuff), currently watching the Weathering with you commentary on screen anime and hoping at some point they release it either as an mp3 or on a later blu-ray.
I'm also currently trying to run though Love Live Sunshine on Prime so i can watch the film on Sceen Anime, and really enjoying that.

@PC777 IIRC one of my friends has the complete beserk manga (not sure which version as IIRC he got into it around the time of the first anime), and he enjoyed it a lot.

I don't, so far they've not said anything that I've seen but I did wonder if the order they're on the page might be the order in which they'll go up, but then realised it was just alphabetical apart from the mystery box, so no clue.

I'm probably going to be hitting F5 every few seconds from about 16:45 on day 1:p
So far out of all the mystery boxes I've had off them I've only had about one item per box that either I'm not interested in, or already have :) (although I've got about 4 from last years pair that i haven't watched yet, mainly because I'd already seen them before and I've been struggling to keep up with just the new stuff).

edit.
I forgot to say, anyone with a screen anime sub, the weathering with you commentary by Jonathan Clements if very interesting and fun:)
It's a shame it's not going to be on the blu-ray:( (and that the zavvi exclusive isn't out till next Monday - when I'll probably watch the film for the third time in ten days).
Hopefully they'll work out a way to do the commentary either as a standalone track or put it on another release at some point (it's one of the more informative ones I've heard in ages, hopefully the first of many).

If I understood it correctly everything apart from day 2 - 12 items will be listed day 1 (more than currently shown), then in the next 11 days they will have daily additions which will stay till the end (or get sold out).
Aye that's about what I got, although I got the impression there would be additional items added on top of the starting ones, so day 1 gets the mystery box and a bunch of things, then day 2 gets one of the "12 days" items but also possibly more of their normal stuff discounted, and everything stays up for order until either day 13 or they run out whichever comes first.
I'll need to sit down and rewatch the panel, as I was listening to it whilst reading the forums.

Bubblegum Crisis (original) was and still is one of my favourite anime of all times. The opening crawl and music sets it up so perfectly.

Toradora is indeed very good, as you say possibly one of the best romantic comedy series.

I'd probably add in Full Metal Panic as a great comedy/action mecha anime (and the old Patlabor TV series and OVa's were also good but they're a little dated now, and hard to get in the UK).

Baccano as a very confusing (at first) action comedy.

Perfect Blue as a very good mystery/psychological thriller.

Papriika as one of the trippiest anime movies ever.

And Tokyo Godfathers as probably the best standalone anime set around Christmas.

Started School-Live! yesterday without telling my wife what it was about, for most of the first episode she was like "WTF are we watching this cutesy slice-of-life seemingly intended for 8 year old?" :D
Evil man.

I've just finished Love Live Sunshine season 2 (always up to date on my anime:p), and it's really enjoyable if a little formulaic, it's the sort of thing that I wouldn't watch all the time, but every now and then I like something different, especially after something darker and more serious.

I'm probably going to try on March Comes in like a Lion, or Utena next, I'm a bit tempted by Magic Knight Rayearh but that might be a little too cutesy/90's for me at the moment (although it is Clamp).

Blurays:

To support some of my fav shows I am just going to buy some blurays and build a bit of a collection even if they just sit on a shelf. My budget isn't unlimited but I've begun to get some, I'm very interested to see what comes along in the MVM and ATA sales in December...

Grabbed Monogatari first 3 seasons (Bake, Nise, 2nd Season collections). Also picked up Madoka Magica and Log Horizon except Season 1 Part 1. I can't really find a good place to get Log Horizon Season 1 Part 1 BR from with the exception of Oxfam lol! If anyone can find a source for this I'm interested!

Will grab KLK and Re:Zero season sets from the ATA sales, will keep an eye on some other stuff I want as well such as Overlord, Saga of Tanya the Evil, Fate/Zero etc.

Mini collection
Zavvi have a small manga blu-ray sale on at the moment https://www.zavvi.com/blu-ray/offers/manga.list?sf132636261=1&pageNumber=1

The problem with a small collection of anime dvd's and blu-rays is it seems to grow...;)

Both the ATA and AOL mystery deals tend to be pretty good :)

I'm going to aim for both (as usual), but hopefully this year I won't be spending as much on the Christmas sales as I did last year, with ATA's clearance of their funi titles included it turned out expensive:p

Konosuba is great fun, as is Slime, Deathnote is good, FMA is great (is that the original or brotherhood?), Gurren Lagann is very gainax:p

All of those are really good:)

If you want something pants on head funny and nuts then Panty and Stocking is great fun to watch (I'm sore that Gainax never continued it).

Just realised that the £10-20 offers in their sale are BOGOF as well, so you can get some very good deals there.

I'm trying to resist the urge to get the bebop flight case edition, with the 15% off it would be around £112.

The other UE's are great value, and really nicely done (I've got most of them).

ATA have had a bit of a restock of some items, I managed to pick up one that popped out of stock last night whilst I was dealing with dinner.

So far I've got the mystery box (shipped), Demon Slayer, The Promised Neverland, Ajin season 2, Vampire Hunter D blood lust, Love Live Shunshine season 1, and Anthem of the Heart.

For the pre-orders I'm aiming for FMP Invisible Victory, Planetes, Cyber City Oedo 808 (haven't seen that since the 90's, or early 2000's on C4), Millennium Actress (I've been waiting on a UK HD release for years), Sword Art Online Gungale, and possibly Kill la kill, children of the sea and Summer with coo.
Fortunately I tend to put a bit aside for the Christmas onslaught of orders:p

MVM days 5 and 6 are likely to be the best ones from their store for me.

Fortunately (?) I have a lot of the MVM and ATA stuff that I'm interested in, otherwise it could be a lot worse - last year the ATA clearance of their Funi titles was a killer:p

Next year I really need to sort my hobby room up and clear out he duplicates, as I'm gradually replacing more of my older DVD's with blu-rays, and some bare bones early blu-rays with newer ones (when I do sort it out i'll probably end up only keeping duplicates where the earlier release has content not on the newer version).

Sadly still missing GL bluray on ATA on their restock. Not had a reply yet to my query but it's probably low priority and not an existing order, hopefully they restock before sale ends.

I'll probably also wait until I can order both KLK and RE:Zero on the same day using my 10% newsletter code, as they are pre-orders I don't think they'll run out easily (guess they just make more if they get lots of pre-orders!).

How much you spend so far?

P.S. I've seen first 4 episodes of Shield Hero and loving it so far, it's brutal emotionally as well.
Erm about £120 so far, but apart from the other pre-orders that's about all I expect to get from ATA - I've learned to budget for it:) (last year was fairly brutal though).

Sheild hero is very good, I'lm looking forward to more of the anime as the light novels are way ahead of the anime.
