The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Aye I'm amazed at how cheap modern anime is.

IIRC the GITS UE cost less than I paid for the original DVD's :P

And you can't fool me into starting a laser disc collection....
Mainly as I don't know where to get a laser disc player from:p

Food Wars is definitely fun, I need to get round to getting/watching seasons 3-5 at some point, as I bought 1&2 on a whim and thoroughly enjoyed them.

I think the only other food related one I've seen so far was Ben-To, although does Princess Nine count? it has a lot of scenes set in the noodle shop.

That's a nice list of anime :)

I think we've got a fair bit of overlap :)

I've just finished Sword Art Online Alicization, and now really want to see War for the Underworld as it left it on a cliff hanger.

In the meantime I'm going to start on FMP: Invisible Victory tonight, making sure to start off with the audio dramas, by the time I've finished that hopefully my blu-ray copy of Weathering For You will have arrived from Zavvi.
[edit]
Actually I'll start with one from the backlog, possibly Yusibuo, Photo Kano or Amachu.

Yusibu -I couldn’t become a hero, so I decided to get a job.*

Most of these have either been in the backlog for under 6 months (but get pushed back by newer stuff), or were picked up very cheap, but some have been in their for 1-3 years (marked with a *), mainly from mystery boxes, and have just kept getting pushed back.

2021 I'll have to make an effort to really clear that backlog, especially the older stuff.

On a slight side note, I just saw Zombieland Saga is getting a second season, which I'm looking forward to, as I really enjoyed the first season.

Slime is very enjoyable, I'm possibly looking at Ancient Magus Bride but half holding out for a complete collection, same with Card Captor Sakura (the original was fun, but it's been ~15 years since I watched that).

One of the issues I always tend to have with sales, is that often I've already got most of the titles I'm interested in, especially the older ones.

You've got a nice line up there:)
FLCL is slightly nuts but great fun with excellent music - although I'm still waiting for the two sequel series to see a release over here (the first series has been out for nearly 20 years! they took over a decade for seasons 2 and 3).

I have cleared a couple of my older series on blu-ray.
Yu-Shibu (I couldn't become a hero, so I reluctantly decided to get a job), which was good fun with some nice animation, some fun gags, an interesting take on what happens after the demon king is defeated, and generally enjoyable although I think they over did the T&A.

At the other end of the scale was Dai-Shogun.
The character designs and detail was good, but the animation was almost non existent (I've seen 70's and 80's TV animation with more actual animation*), and the story seemed to meander rather a lot - I'll be honest it was a slog at times to get through the 12 episodes.

I'm probably going to try something that should be more fun tonight, either Full Metal Panic S4, or possibly Demon Slayer as that arrived on Saturday.

*Seriously, it felt like I was watching a more detailed version of Scooby Do or The Flintstones in terms of animation.

New Game is really enjoyable in that slice of life sort of way, no massively high stakes or anything but a fun look at the new girl at a games development company:)

Steins Gate is really good, and I'm tempted to rewatch it before watching the film.

I made a start on Demon Slayer, which is proving to be very good:) and Cybercity Oedo 808 shipped yesterday, whilst my Weathering with You set from Zavvi finally arrived (it's the Zavvi exclusive with the ost, IIRC they've got a few left on the store again).

Aye varying what you watch is a good idea, so something light hearted/comdey between more serious stuff is always a good idea to help prevent burning out.
It's one of the reasons I've ended up being rather omnivorous with my anime habit* as I've repeatedly found that watching something completely different to my usual choices can help me avoid getting bored, going back a few years I'd typically watch anything put out by Rightstuf/Nozomo as they always seemed to licence really good stuff, or keep an eye on Animeondvd (before they got sold and eventually closed) for the reviews as I found I could trust their reviewers choices.

It's also worth remembering which anime really make you smile, sometimes if you go blind into something you really need that happy place series afterwards ;) (I like Aria the Animation, FMP Fumoffu etc for that, especially after something like "Saikano", "Now and then, here and there" or "Grave of the Fireflies"**).

*I'm really not a sports fan but loved Princess Nine, and things like Silver Spoon didn't initially appeal to me but once I'd watched the first couple of episodes I loved them.

**I'm trying hard to use older examples, as I don't think it's a spoiler to say something 15 years old has some hard viewing/very dark themes.

I dint's want to scare people off by saying how nuts it was...I mean it is only slightly nuts on the Gainax scale ;)

I received a surprise box this morning from ATA containing "Summer Days with Coo", "Millennium Actress":D and "Gun Gale Online" :) which is nice, although I didn't get a shipping confirmation.

I'm going to try and make a start on "March comes in like a lion" later, having not watched any anime for a couple of days since finishing Demon Slayer part 1 which was very good.

I'm looking forward to part 2 of Demon Slayer:)

I forgot to say anime-on-line.com are doing a 20% off on their site with the code NEWYEAR21 which can be applied to anything i believe, I've used it to pre-order the second part os Fruits Basket season 2 on blu-ray for £16 :)

That looks like it could be fun:)

I finished off the first season of "March Comes in like a lion" which was enjoyable but quite slow/low key, I'm going to put season 2 onto a back burner for now as I've got so much other stuff to watch, and it's only available here on Crunchyroll I think.

I've made a start on "Full Metal Panic: Invisible Victory", going with the audio dramas etc first, I'd recommend probably starting with the Christmas audio drama but skipping the other "what if" ones, as I think the what ifs are set after the series, whilst the Christmas one is the bridging one, but there looks to be about 4 hours of audio only extras on disc 4 of the set (~90 minutes of what iffs, and about 2-3 hours of audio drama), it's fun hearing an FMP story that I've not seen/heard half a dozen times already :)

I've succeeded in avoiding buying more anime in January! but then bought "the Ancient Magus' Bride" and "Goblin Slayer" in Zavvi's 40% off sale yesterday :/

In other news, apparently both "Violet Evergarden" and "Planetes" have been delayed a bit, which is actually a bit of a relief, it gives me a chance to knock my backlog down a little (looks at previous sentence, oops
nuts.gif
), and Konosuba season 2 will be going up in a couple of weeks so that's an order for me...

I finally managed to get a start on season 4 of FMP! and this looks really good!
A couple of episodes in and it was feeling like season 1 but with the more serious nature of season 3, by episode 4 it was very good.

I suspect I may end up watching it in quite short order over the next couple of days.

I'm not necessarily surprised you found a flcl a bit to wtf, but for me it was always the wtf that help make it :)

I need to watch My Hero, as I think I got to the end of season 1 and didn't remember to pick it up again, whilst akame ga kill is one that I really need to watch some time.
School-Live! is fun, but I wish they'd made more of it, I think the manga goes a lot further.

I've finished FMP Invisible Victory and that was really, really good, it felt like the best parts of season 1 and season 3, and moved the story on a lot but I'm now really, really hoping they do a season 5 sometime soon and not wait 4-6 years (although given they're releasing the light novels in a new translation I take that as a good sign).
I'm going to go through the extras on that tonight as it's got some commentaries and so on.

I've been watching Kuma Kuma Bear which looks fun, and Sleepy Princess in the demon castle is just plain fun as Sya wanders around single-mindedly looking for ways to improve her sleep whilst more or less ignoring the fact she's meant to be a hostage.

Next up is probably Kill La Kill, or The Promised Neverland season 1 as they're on the pile in front of me :)

FMP you can luckily watch in relatively short bits, IIRC season 1 is 24 episodes in about 3 arcs with a couple of standalone episodes, season 2 is purely comedy and 13 episodes you can more or less watch any time, seas 3 is 13 episodes and a single serious arc, 4 is 12 episodes (with a recap one) and one serious arc, so you can potentially watch each season weeks/months apart fairly easily.

I keep seeing about My Next Life, so I'm going to add that to the *roll of ominous thunder and crack of lighting* List ;) I'm trying to actually watch a bit more anime this year to clear it a bit, as even just the stuff I've got on my physical collection is quite a lot, let alone the netflix, prime and crunchyroll watch lists ;)

I'm also going to watch I'm a Spider at some point, as I enjoyed the light novels and the series looks looks like it's got the right vibe.

I finished off "Is it wrong to try to pick up girls in a dungeon" season 2 yesterday which was very good, they managed to fit 3 story arcs into the series:) I'm looking forward to season 3 now.

I'm going to start on the "Promised Neverland" today with a little luck.
