The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Well Usagi Drop joins my (short) list of live action films which are related to anime/manga and don't suck (along with Kimi ni Todoke and Maria-sama ga Miteru). Subtitles would have been nice though.

Latest Ano Natsu was reasonable too.

I've been watching Initial D lately, based on the crazy Japs and their love of drifting/racing it follows a young boy who has spent about 5 years being the delivery driver for his dads Tofu shop (even before he had a license), his skills are unmatched and challengers from all over come to compete with him racing mostly downhill the local mountains.

I've been struggling to find this, really want to see the live action movie.

Ano Natsu isn't doing bad but I am much preferring Daily Lives of Highschool Boys, that show just keeps being funny. :p

The Usagi Drop movie only had it's media release on 02/02 hence it's not been around long. My copy was waiting for me when I got home yesterday (yay no Customs!) so I could drop it in the BD player last night. I wasn't initially going to pick it up but then I noticed I had ~1100yen in points on CDJapan so thought why not?

I haven't looked at the Daily Lives of Highschool Boys yet, although I have heard good things about it.

Licensed for release by Funimation during 2012. Not solicited yet. Given that the Japanese release is only just coming up I'd expect it late in the year.

Japanese media release doesn't appear to come out until 24th Feb. If you are really desperate CDJapan appear to have a few BD/DVD LE available for order still at the low, low price of 9000yen + shipping (and no subtitles) :)

edit:

Finished 4th and final part of the Bandai release of The Girl Who Leapt Through Space. I like this series. It has nice fun characters, a reasonable amount of humour and it's nice, none to serious, sci-fi. Also has good OPs and EDs.

edit2:

Forgot to mention, watched something a bit different last Sunday afternoon. It was the Wonder Festival convention in Japan last weekend and Good Smile have a live broadcast at the same time with special guests etc talking about figures, games, anime etc ... well this year, for the first time, they also had a live english show streamed on NicoNico, presented by Danny Choo and Ferlyn Yoshimi. It went on for four hours, (I caught the last couple), and it was quite a amusing with various special guests and general chaos. There is some info about what went on on Danny's site here.

Looks like Funimation have solicited Shiki for May which I seem to remember was a series which Alex liked. Personally I'm more interested in Cat Planet Cuties which is released then as well.

Watched a couple of things today ...

Finished watching Cowboy Bebop Remix ... great classic series about bounty hunters in the future with quite a bit of violence, strange characters, humour and an excellent soundtrack.

Also watched Princess Jellyfish on Funimation's BD release. It's a nice simple little series about a group of female otaku who live together and are afraid of the fashionable people around them. It's a nice, if short (11 episodes), series and has quite a few extras on the second disk. It should be noted that it seems that the subtitles are locked on if the Japanese audio is selected.

I can't remember what I said I watched in the last thread.

But I'll (maybe) repeat myself and say 2011 was a good year for me concerning Japanime.

I finished watching quite a few series.

Main ones that stuck out for me were: -

Clannad + After Story
Monster
Cowboy BeBop
Wolf's Rain

I'll ellaborate on what I felt about those series at another time but just now I don't have the concentration, sorry. :p

Crunchyroll, anyone use there service before? They seem to have a lot of anime on there.
Im pretty new to anime and have only watched ones thats been recommened by you guys:
samurai 7
elflen leid (sorry bad spelling)
samurai champloo
basilisk
claymore
afro samurai

Anyway i looked at crunchroll and they got gundam 00 which a mate said is excellent, so i watched half an episode (the adverts annoyed me) and i see a lot of promise. Its also got naruto shipeden and bleach which has been recommened to me before.
So £5 a month, would you say its worth it, does crunchroll keep up to date with there on going series?
Also with naruto shipeden do i need to watch the original (ive only seen about 15 episodes) to get whats going on.

This was asked only about 50 posts ago in the thread! (post 599) ... I have a premium subscription on Crunchyroll and have for several years. It's pretty reasonable and there is quite a bit on there (although you miss out on some things as they are only visible in the US but they won't be listed for you anyway. If what you can see on there is what you want to watch then it can be good to have and more is added each season.

Currently airing seasons are normally simulcasts hence will start streaming shortly after they air in Japan, (or delayed by a set amount as per their license). Pleay back is fine for me but will depend on your internet connection and how well your browser handles the video streams. Personally I use the 720p streams instead of the new 1080p ones.

I can't comment on Naruto as it's not a series I follow.

Only watched a couple of things the last couple of days as I have visitors ...

Madoka disk 1 on BD which was good, weird and interesting to watch. Also watched Whisper of the Heart and Arrietty on BD which both looked really good.

I've not watched very much this last week or so either. I've got the next 5 days off though so planning to catch up.

I've started watching Dantalion da Shoka (or whatever the name is), seems different but not too far in. Set in early 1900s England by the look of things which is a change. Also started a rewatch of Toradora! but that'll take a while as it's a joint watch with a girl I'm seeing as she's into anime as well.

I've just finished watching that and rather enjoyed it. It can seem a bit samey in a couple of the first episodes but soon picks up!
