The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Had visitors last weekend so that cut into my watching quite a bit. I'm feeling somewhat mixed love for the new season so far ...

Humanity Has Declined ... slightly odd animation style but really ... what on earth is going on? I'm not sure if it's supposed to be amusing, surreal or what? I can't really say that any of it really gelled together in to a story, nor were the characters particularly well introduced. I was maybe expecting to much from this.

Koi to Senkyo no Chocolate ... could be good but seemed to be lacking in energy and seemed to have many characters but not much information on who they are ... :( It has some good elements in the first episode which could be interesting but the "club", something which should have probably have been introduced more in the first episode is still rather vague.

Hagure Yuusha no Estetica ... fairly unlikeable main character and and gratuitous big boobies don't really replace plot. :(

Tari Tari ... seems quite good so far with the second episode moving along quite a bit more than expected. In general things have been done quite nicely so far. ;) I was really expecting another episode at least prior to any form of performance but what they did did seem to hold together fine, (and it's obvious there will be trouble next week).

Dakara Boku wa, H ga Dekinai ... a few interesting things in the first episode of this including quite a bit of action. Could really go either way at the moment depending on where they go with it ... ;) Hopefully the next episode will introduce some more characters though.

Moyashimon ... come on it's more Moyashimon ... yay! :D

Muv Luv Alternative Total Eclipse and Natsuyuki Rendezvous both had reasonable first episodes, (although the plot device in the second series has been done many times before in one way or another).

With other currently running series the latest Hyouka was pretty good with the Classics Club starting the first day of the school festival with copies of the anthology to sell ... the trouble is will they all just get distracted? ... The latest AKB0048 was very much a setup episode for the last two upcoming episodes. It possible to see what's going to happen in some areas but other things are still quite wide open.

With Tari Tari someone on another forum I was reading put it as "When the lesbian in a hat tells you to do something, you do it" which I thought quite amusing.

Watched the first episode of Sword Art Online earlier. Now I don't play, or really have any interest in, any MMORGs, so I'm sure I'm missing some things here but I thought it was a reasonable first episode which set things up quite well. Unfortunately I could see it practically turning into a monster of the week series quite easily from here on ...

Finished watching AnoHana tonight on NISA's BD release. A short, but very emotional series with some very good characters being forced to come to terms with an event from their past so that they can finally move on. Personally I really like this series although it does tend to leave me in a mess. I do also think that the main ED and it's animation is very good.

It's presented in the usual NISA premium release across 2 BDs (and 2 DVDs) and with a book within an artbox. The only slight issue this time is that the book seems to be fractionally to long for the box (very very fractionally though and not a real issue).

I think it might have been a manufacturing issue in either the book or the box, since on the set I got the book protrudes more on one side then it does on the other (on one side it's almost flush with the top and on the other side it sticks out slightly more then the book in the third KnT set, but the card (or whatever it was) they used for the more exposed side seems to be shorter then the pieces it's connected to).

In addition to all the new stuff on Crunchyroll I've been going back to old stuff, I'm about halfway through Initial D and just watched the first episode of Discotek's release of Fist of the North Star.

I watched all the way through Initial D at the start of the year (thanks to Funi's S.A.V.E. releases) ... I thought it was quite good in parts but didn't think much of the pacing and repetitiveness in others. I actually prefer the live action movie to the anime.

Today I have been mostly watching the Mahoromatic I'm Home OVA on Sentai's release which is quite amusing (as long as you have seen the rest of the title before) although it would appear that there is an issue with the audio on the release (well I've seen it reported as such but it was perfectly watchable to me).

I've also been watching Doki Doki School Days from the depths of my backlog ... that'll continue into tomorrow. (The title entered my backlog during the sales chaos which was Geneon exiting the US market so that should give some idea how long it's been there).

I did a check (online of course) and it's just that the Japanese audio is mono and not stereo, so it won't make that much difference unless you can hear the difference (I haven't gotten to the I'm home OVA yet since I've been going through the first two seasons as well as the summer special OVA as I bought the ultimate collection since I was missing most of the second season (as well as the summer special) and that set allowed me to get some bookcase space back).

Yeah, they're the ones I have, the last thing I got from Planet Axel before they went under, speaking of which it's only been a couple of days ago that I finally got the money back from the order they canceled.

Tbh, I did watch it with Japanese audio and, like with other series which I have had with the same error, I can't say that I noticed. These things tend to only be noticeable to me if the action requires a left-right placement of audio which isn't really the case here.

Finished Doki Doki School Hours earlier on the Geneon release. I have had this for ages but always failed to watch it through. The release is basically two parts, the 13 episode series plus a 7 episode OVA series. The main series itself is a quite amusing school series (although not as good as Azumanga Daioh) with some fairly amusing, if not deep, characters and light humour. It's quite simple revolving around a teacher who is smaller than the students and various dysfunctional students. The OVA episodes do get a bit too silly at times making them a bit of a chore to watch some of them.

edit:

I liked Rideback, (I have the US DVD/BD combo release). It had a nicely done little story and the animation was quite good.

Well over the last couple of days I've watched a little more Ai Yori Aoshi (the fanservice in episode 5 really got on my nerves...less of that more drama pls!), and also watched the entirety of the first collection of Xam'd on BD which came through from Lovefilm (I shall have to look further afield for the second half in HD it seems). I also finished Ef - Tale of Memories with one of my brothers and have watched a little more Toradora :)

Also managed to drop in on a few episodes of FMP whilst my brother was watching it :)

If you think that the Ai Yori Aoshi anime has to much fanservice then steer clear of the manga as that has quite a bit more. I can't say that I thought that the anime was particularly bad for it.

I think the only times there were any differences between the anime and manga (that I noticed) in relation to nudity were in relation to Chika.

Oh no, whilst there may be nudity at the same times in both it's definitely quite a bit more servicey in the manga than the anime, (I'd forgotten this when I came to read it for the second time and suddenly re-found it whilst on the tram one morning).

Its not so much overall fanservice thats annoyed me, just that one particular episode so Im hoping it's a one off, I'm referring to the supposedly American girl (Tina) constantly groping people; just gets annoying and unnecessary.
