The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

I just finished making my way through Tiger & Bunny, I'm glad i watched it and I'd reccommend that others check it out as well.

Characters

All of the Heroes have their own unique powers, designs and personalities which are all likeable imo. They don't sink into the background and they all have a presence within the story which has an impact on events.

Visuals

Really nice action scenes with an appropriate use of CG that blends in really well with the more traditional animation.

Story

Overall it was a pretty good story, nice, simple and to the point. The main protaganists are a nice contrast to one another and it keeps you coming back for the next episode. The ending of the series leaves it open for the future.

I'd be amazed if this series didn't get a second season to be honest. From what i've read it's been quite well recieved. Thumbs up from me :).

Been re-watching a couple of things this week ...

Seitokai Yakuindomo - silly and rude series about a boy going to a school which up to recently has been a girls school. He gets conscripted into the student council. The series is quite amusing at times and is very rude ... it's not that it's full of fanservice, there isn't really much at all, the rudeness and humour is spoken ... the girls are a bunch of perverts and some of the things they say ....

Ano Natsu de Matteru ... really nice little series which has a plot which is similar, in some ways, to Please Teacher and stylistically very similar to AnoHana. Really nice story and great characters. It does get a bit silly in the last few episodes but they are great from a comic point of view ...

Im a premium member on crunchyroll and so far have watched mobile suit gundam wing and sword art online. Im not sure what to watch next, i looked at the descriptions and none stand out to me. What ones would you recommend on there that are good?

The trouble is that there is a lot of good stuff on there but it's all sorts of genres so what one person likes may not be suitable for the next ...

Currently airing ...
Campione!
Total Eclipse
Kokoro Connect

Personally I'm also really liking Tari Tari and Moyashimon but I don't know if you'd like the former and the latter really requires that you've seen the first season.

Finished ...
Fate/Zero
Durarara
Squid Girl
Hanasuka Iroha
Asobi ni Ikuyo

The good thing about CrunchyRoll being that you can try a few episodes of each to see if you want to watch them :)

I do hope the Crunchyroll Library gets larger over time. They have some good shows but there are some very big gaps in terms of content. It's a shame that we can't get Hulu over here as they seem to have all the other shows that are missing. (Accel World, Sankarea, Last Exile from just glancing through the Library, which is quite extensive). The UK is lagging behind a bit with streaming stuff. It's a shame that Crunchyroll recently picked up Angel Beats but only for the US :(. I'll have to pick it up on Blu Ray when i get a chance.

Others that are on Crunchyroll and are worth checking out include..

Sora no Woto
Chihayafuru
Hanasaku Iroha
Space Brothers
Nichijou (My Ordinary Life)

I also managed to watch Ocean Waves the other day. It kind of reminded me of 5cm/s, or at least the Ghibli version of it. It was interesting, i don't really know what the point of the film was though, which seems to be common with Ghibli stuff. I caught the first 5 minutes of Paprika as well which looked visually bizarre. I have it on DVD somewhere so I'll have to dig it out and sit down to watch it. I picked it up ages ago but I've never actually watched it.

Yep, those others are mostly very good as well (although I haven't got around to watching Nichijou yet) ... Chihayafuru is really good but may be a bit niche. I didn't want to list to many at once too :)

I think that Ocean Waves is a very "japanese" film. It's very like some live action Japanese films I have which just seem to be slice of life and lack much of a plot over all. I like it as a no-brainer watch but it's not up there with the more fantasy Ghiblis.

I think I'm going through a bad streak with custom charges at the moment, two landed through the letter box this morning. One of which I was expecting for Macross DYRL and the other for Fist of the North Star Volume 4 which I'd hoped to get away with, as usual the majority of it was the post office handling charge.

Finished re-watching Highschool DxD this evening ... it's not an overly complicated super-natural series but it is better than some of the same fanservice driven series (it has a large amount of fanservice). I liked it as a no-brainer series watch ... (I also like strong red-headed female leads :D)

Also watched the latest ToHeart2 Dungeon Travellers OVA ... it's ok but I much prefer the earlier non-dungeon based series and OVAs ...

Finished re-watching Bridge to the Starry Skies this evening. It's a fairly generic harem style series adapted from a game with a main male character and various female characters for him to fail to get anywhere with. It's fairly predicable in it's type of story but I've seen far worse of the type and it's a good no-brainer to watch (helped by the Hina character being of my preferred type).

It looks like whilst we know the Ghibli releases for this November we can now be pretty sure of next May/June's releases as well. Kiki's Delivery Service and Only Yesterday are getting BD releases in Japan in December so it's likely we'll get them then. Bit meh as Only Yesterday is my least favourite Ghibli.

Would be tempted if there was a BIG improvement

The other Ghibli releases have been pretty good on BD so far so hopefully it'll be pretty good. It will be interesting to see what set of subtitles/dub they use as there has been variations in the releases over the years, (there's info on this on the Wikipedia page for the film).

Can't comment on sigs as I have them turned off :)

Got a couple of things related to the AKB0048 series this week.

I received a couple of copies of the OP/ED single release (No Name - Kibo ni Tsuite) ... a couple of copies as I purchased both the Type A (non-Anime) and Type B (Anime) Limited Editions which come with different DVDs as well as different general artwork.

The Anime edition is quite interesting as on the DVD, as well as an animated video of the main track, which I thought was quite poor personally (it consisted of new animation in the 3D style, clips from the show and some new pretty bad, cheap looking, 2D animation) and a making of feature for the animated video, it also had a feature where three of the voice actresses (I think it was Amina Sato (Yuka), Haruka Ishida (Kanata) and Sumire Sato (Mimori) from what they saw) having a look round the offices at Satelight and seeing how different aspects of the series were made. This was quite interesting (would have been even more so if I understood Japanese I expect :))

The non-Anime edition doesn't have this feature on the DVD and instead has a feature call "No Name No Nabe" where all the voice actresses for the understudies go out for nabe at a restaurant, chat, eat, muck around (pens which give electric shocks are apparently fun) and get interviewed. Again it looked quite interesting but without knowing Japanese all I can comment is that Mao Mita (Makoto) was obviously hungry and Sawako Hata (Suzuko) spent most of the first half of the feature looking like she was scared and wanted to go home ...

I've also got the official guide book for the series as well which is quite nice with loks of nice big pictures in it.

Finished watching Shangri-La this evening on Funi's new release. It's a good goodies versus baddies with an ecological twist with added boomerangs, transvestites, hacking weird supernatural stuff. It's pretty fast paced at times and is quite a good fun watch. I wouldn't say it's a great series but it's a nice solid watch.

Latest Tari Tari was good too ... :)

My copy of FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood The Complete Series arrived today. The front cover looks awesome, im guessing its the two main characters on look pretty badass. Cant wait to watch it, ill leave it till i have a week off starting 25th august.
