The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

What channel is that?

A little heads up, apparently Zavvi are doing various Ghibli Blu/DVD double packs for about £11, and the Arriety deluxe one a pound or so more (Laputa isn't listed under blu-rays, but DVD's for it's double pack).

Tokyo MX (I think) :)

Also had an episode of the new Little Busters series followed by one of the extra true ending episodes from OreImo after it.

I'd admit I don't know much about Gundam either; I've seen the Seed and 00 properties but none of the rest.

Watched Jungle De Ikou last night oldie stylee :)
Ok to kill an evening, bit overkill on the Boing:D,but it was obvious from the cover what it was going to be like.Short ova series

I've given in to geekdom and joined the anime society at uni.

This term we're watching through Mawaru Penguindrum, which is pretty good so far.

Also watched the first couple of episodes of Shinsekai Yori, which looks promising

I quite liked Mawaru Penguindrum when I watched it ... it's a bit strange at times but is generally enjoyable. Unfortunately I had long left University when I "discovered" anime and manga and the local city society here meets at a time and location which is fairly inconvenient to me.

Recently I've been watching quite a bit of non-anime Japanese stuff but I have looked at a few of the new seasons series ...

Girls und Panzer ... thought that the first couple of episodes were pretty reasonable ... at least reasonable enough to continue watching. I would be interested in knowing more about the world setting too.

Hidamari Sketch x Honeycomb ... more of the same from the Hidamari Sketch franchise ... which is a good thing.

Jormungand Season 2 ... hopefully this continues along the same style as the first season.

K ... only seen the first episode of this; it was interesting but not seen enough yet to work out what is really going on.

Robotic;Notes ... seems an interesting, if a bit far fetched, series.

Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo ... I remember watching a couple of episodes of this yesterday and thinking it was ok ... but now I remember absolutely nothing about it which can't be good ...

With Onii-chan Dakeko Ai Sae Areba Kankei Nai yo ne- and Shinseki Yori I haven't been overly impressed with what I have seen so far ... admittedly I have only seen the first episode of the latter at the moment.

I realise I've been a bit quiet recently, been tied up with some other hobbies, and RL. That said I was sick all weekend so I have had a bit of a chance to catch up.

Finished the X-Men anime; had been sitting a few episodes in for a while, and as a childhood fan of the original animated series, I kinda really appreciated this in a nostalgic way. I don't think it was 100% spot on, but they did a decent job all considering. I've seen worse alternate universe X-Men stuff!

Also managed to finished Vampire Princess Miyu, it's one of those older series I'd kinda been touching on for ages, have to say though I think it's aged, and whilst the subject matter/theme is my thing, I wasn't that fond on this series; very plodding on the actual main story and very monster of the week themed. Not really my cup of tea; but perhaps that's simply down to the age of it!

Zero no Tsukaima F - watched this yesterday and the day before.
Really dissapointed with this actually; the previous series' weren't big and clever, but they were light hearted and reasonable watches; whereas this series...well it felt like a mishmash of rushed story ideas and filler episodes, and a bit of ecchi.
I don't know whether the books were as bad, but I figure likely not, and I'd imagine there were some dissapointed fans in Japan when this aired.

Shame... could have been a lot better; especially if they'd not wasted time on fillery episodes.

Not quite sure what I'm going to watch next; my gf recommended Gosick quite a while ago, I've also seen the first episode of a show called Kemenozume; the plot intrigues me but the art style (like sketch book style) is....hard. Also considering returning to FMA:B, as I stopped only a few episodes into FMA:Brotherhood; the first episodes really didnt strike me compared to my possible red tinted glasses memories of the first verson.

So...not sure.

I also keep thinking I MUST watch AIR... and then there's Hyouka.
So much to watch...so little time, not always in the mood for a given show! What to do?!

Any good anime to watch, watched:
Hunter X Hunter (2011) On going
Naruto
Naruto Shippuden On going
One Piece On going
Bleach
Death Note
any others like them?

Hmmmm .... they're all similar titles and I'm not really sure there is much else in that area without branching out a bit.

You could try Samurai Champloo or Samurai 7 ... they're a bit more standard anime though rather than long running shonen series.

If you do want other series which are long running you might want to try Fairy Tail, Fullmetal Alchemist, Soul Eater or Dragonball but they are different genres.

Claymore possibly?
Although that's a fairly short series.

I started on Puella Magi Madoka Magica this morning (woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep), which is almost completely a blind buy for me - I knew it was magical girls and meant to be good, but that was about it:p
So far I'm really enjoying it, it's darker than I'd thought it would be
the death of the "nice" veteran magical girl in episode 3, and the implication that the various magical girls may be fighting each other.
, and the animation for the "mazes" reminds me of Alice in wonderland with the style/feel to them.
I'm looking forward to watching more tonight :)

Had a nice little package through this morning ...

Anyone who has any anime figures is likely to have heard of GoodSmile who produce a lot of figures (including Nendoroids and Figmas).

Well they also have a SuperGT racing team in Japan ... and as well as the normal sponsorship they also have personal sponsor option. With this you pay several thousand yen and appear on the list of (several thousand) personal sponsors and get stuff.

I signed up back at the beginning of the season (after reading about it on Danny Choo's site) and got some bits and pieces through then but we were supposed to get some more things in October ... and this is what came today; a racing Miku Nendoroid (with car), a clear folder and sticker.

:)

Currently watching through bakuman, really enjoying it so far :)

Penguin drum keeps on getting weirder, if it wasn't for the society I probably would have stopped watching it by now.

Last night was an 11hour anime session, so we watched:

Robotics;Notes 01-03 Not a big fan of mecha stuff, so didn't get on with this that well

Read or Die OVAs This was pretty cool, we found it very funny :) though I'm not sure if it was meant to be a comedy

K-ON! Movie Plot: The band goes to london for a graduation trip. I hadn't seen any other K-ON before this so some of the gags might have been lost on me, but I didn't like it overall. How on earth are those girls meant to be 18?

Gosick 01-03 Enjoyed this, though by now I was falling asleep and the caffeine hadn't kicked in yet so I didn't follow it as well as I should have

Another 01-02 This was pretty interesting, one of my friends there was complaining quite vehemently that they should have watched episode 3 as well as thats when things really start getting interesting. I'll probably watch this by myself at some point

Berserk Golden Age Arc I - Egg of the High King This was pretty good, by now my caffeine had kicked in so I could actually concentrate. I'll have to find Arc II at some point

Cromartie High School 01-03 What on earth is this? Very funny :)

Yeah you really should have seen the series before watching the film,I thought they were supposed to be like 16 ish?

No it's their (other than Azu-nyan of course) graduation trip so by the Japanese high school system they'll be 18 ... but I echo the sentiment that you really need to have seen the series' in order to get most of the humour etc of the movie.

To be honest I preferred the R.O.D. series over the OVA too.

Another is reasonable for it's genre (which isn't one of my favourites).

Currently (finally ... been watching to much live action and concert Japanese stuff recently) watch the Strike Witches Season 2 BD release ...

Anyone watching Btoom or Pyscho-Pass? They've been good so far.

The latter of those two is on my current season watch list but I haven't actually got around to watching any of it yet (for various reasons I haven't been able to watch as much as normal over the last few weeks).

I finished watching the second season of Strike Witches the other day ... I would say that I watched it on BD but actually when I went to change the first disk I found that I'd been watching the DVD version out of the combo pack (doh!) ... so I watched the first 7 episodes on DVD and the rest on BD. It's a good fun series which continues on in much the same way as the first season.

I also watched the Strike Witches movie ... which I thought was very good. Even more than the K-On! movie you need to have seen the series which come before to understand the starting point and the relationships between the characters, but if you have then it's a very enjoyable watch and does leave things open at the end for more, be that another movie or another series.

With currently airing series from the new season I'm roughly up to date with Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga S Hitai (which is reasonably amusing), Girls und Panzer (again quite amusing once you look past the ridiculous premise of having tank warfare as a sport for young ladies), Hidamari Sketch X Hoshimittsu (more of the same from Hidamari Sketch), Jormungand (nice bit of action to mix things up), My Little Monster, Say "I Love You" (I like a bit of Shoujo genre now and then), Robotic Notes (although I keep hoping this will improve as I'm not that impressed so far), and Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo (good mixture of humour and light drama) ... actually that's being roughly up to date with more than I was expecting. There are a pile of other things (include series carrying on from last season) which i'm currently at 2-3 episodes behind and not having the time to catch up on currently.
