The anime thread sequel (it's still not as good as the Manga though),

Up to shipudden now.

Im still watching it and it is good, but I just keep getting disappointed that the main character is still a total weakling.

I will stick it out in the hopes that as he is the main char he will become stupidly strong in the final fights of the series.

I hope!

Naruto gets a lot stronger in Shipuuden, I havent watched that far into it to be honest. Up to a certain death, but he definately get one hell of a lot stronger. Even at the beginning of Shippuuden he's a lot stronger than he ever really was in the original series.

Yep, I was correct:
This is them: http://www.alltheanime.com/

They're headed up by Andrew Partridge who's also been involved with Kaze in Europe; and he's mentioned he'll be working with some of the people involved with NIS' US releases to try and get the best quality video and audio he can.

And yep, Cowboy is confirmed on BD:

Here's a blogcast interview with Andy, haven't listened yet but could be interesting:

Awesome! Thanks for that, time to get saving :) Blimey, Outlaw Star is getting released as well!

Well, watched a couple of things this weekend ...

A Certain Magical Index ... on Funimation's DVD release. It's a good series with an interesting selection of characters and storyline. Overall though I think I prefer the spin-off Railgun series ... I just find the story better.

Mayo Chiki ... on Sentai's DVD release. Ok so it's a reverse trap comedy ... and the sort of series it is means that normally you are looking at a single gag plot with the same sorts of misunderstandings occurring again and again. This series though does try and move beyond that is generally quite amusing.

Also caught up to date with AKB0048 (Yukooooooooo) and Chihayafuru ... :)

Naruto definitely improves a lot in Shippuuden in comparison to the original series. Is much less annoying too. Have a couple of friends that refused to watch the original series because they found him too irritating.

Is there anyting Like Sword art online? Loved it

I haven't seen the series but .hack and all the other versions of it are SAO like. Then there is Btooom which is about a group of real people who get taken and dumped on a island to play a real life version of the game they play online and finally there is Accel World which has is like a big MMO, Accel World would be the best out of the three.

IIRC hack/sign is still available new from Madman (it's about $50 Aus RRP), but otherwise it's ebay/amazon sellers as I think it's been OOP here and in the states for a while.

On a completely different note, I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else yet, but it looks like the delayed Grave of the Fireflies blu-ray release is probably due in May (I got an order update through earlier for it).

It's odd how the licensing for anime works out, iirc both the UK and Aus now have an increasing number of titles that either were never released in the US, or have dropped out of print for one reason or another (distributor closing/not renewing licence etc) in the US but not here.

Probably costs less to license here due to the potential market size ... so when it comes to renewing or rescuing licenses which have been released and sold previously, and hence have a potentially smaller market within the larger market, the higher cost becomes prohibitive.

Aye that's true, I think there is also the matter of region coding for blu-rays which is why we seem to be getting some stuff on blu-ray that the American market doesn't (yet).

It just seems odd that after so many years of seeing the American market get stuff that didn't make it over here, the situation is reversed a bit :) (I've actually seen American's asking about the best EU retailer to order an Anime disc from:p)
