Thanks, thats pretty much what I was expecting price wise. Tempted by the 27inch i5 one as a desktop replacement to my 1 year old windows machine. I've got a i7 MBP with a 15 inch screen which I bought around 4 months ago which I use for university work (vastly faster than the uni machines and everything is a wireless hotspot there, so no waiting around for spare computers etc!) but want the screen size and comfort of using a desktop PC whilst at home.

I didn't buy the MBP through the HE store so buying the iMac wouldnt be an issue for me (got a really dodgy deal on it in a store I use to work in haha).

I'm really tempted to get either the MBP 13 or 15" to replace my 2007 white MB.

But I'm torn, the 13" doesn't 'seem' like a worthwhile upgrade but I prefer the size compared to the 15".

I went from a c2d 13 inch mbp to the 15 inch i7 model and definitely noticed a speed increase. The extra screen size is also nice BUT the battery life is slightly worse.
