whats the outlook on Gabriel?

Surely Wenger has to get a CB before the weekend...

Out for at least a mth or more, not heard anything but from his tears...it doesn't look good.

Wenger needs to buy a CB to cover for Gabriel and BFG. But also needs to buy a striker/forward. But at this moment can't see him buying a striker/forward as a CB is more urgent.

Arsenal should have tried to loan Vermaelen back ;) (Vermaelen has moved to Roma on loan) now he has won all of his trophies (7 trophies in 11 games).

So you posted three links to prove he takes money out of the club... none of which say it.

Did you read the links, do you understand why those fans hate him? He picked up the club and moved it to another city, another state. It would be like Arsenal moving to Manchester... it doesn't imply he took money out of the club. American clubs have all to often in multiple sports picked up and moved city because there is a financial benefit to doing so.

You decided to tell me you were bored because I was wrong about everything all the time, I countered with all the things you got wrong, which wasn't a tangent but as usual you can't even keep track of your own arguments and points.

There is actual evidence Kroenke hasn't taken any significant money out of Arsenal, there is legally nothing stopping him emptying his share of the cash account out of the club or paying himself 30million a year... yet he categorically doesn't. When fans delusionally accuse a man of taking money out of their club when they are legally entitled to and known to not have done, those fans don't have a clue what they are talking about.

He HAS paid himself, a comparatively small wage, which again as he basically owns the club is entitled to, he's paid himself like 3million and I don't even believe it's every year. Considering that is less than a lot of the players, Wenger and Gazidis makes.. and he owns the club, it's a paltry amount.

Show me evidence of him taking money out of the club because that was the question, the question wasn't, do fans of one of his clubs hate him or not because it's completely irrelevant. You are in fact trying to muddy the waters here with such information. Newcastle fans hate Mike Ashley but he's put 250-300million into the club.... one has nothing to do with the other.

Youre writing huge wall of texts again which are just fluff, it was an example of some of the stories out there about him, why did you mention the club move when there is an article about how he just bought a 750m ranch instead of paying back the stadium that was bought for him. Because it didnt fit your argument? Why dont you go read the many articles about him and his sports clubs instead of focusing on 3 i picked at random? Do i have to link you to every article out there?

0k, so i'll ask...do you think Kroenke is in anyway holding the club back? A simple yes or no answer will suffice

The links you provided are about the freaking stadium move, and not paying the stadium back... I don't think you understand what the issue is. The city bought the stadium for the team, the city own the stadium, he left the city before the stadium was paid off for a new stadium in a new city.

I didn't say he was liked by fans, you once again are deflecting. The point was Kroenke wanting yes men and taking money out of the club, I pointed out this wasn't true, your rebuttal was to call me a liar, say I'm always wrong then link to three posts none of which say he takes money out of the club. Again you're deflecting with other stories about him, he might be a nasty guy, he might be awful, maybe he kills kids... none of which was relevant to the discussion at hand. Now again you ask why the fans hate him, not because they didn't pay off the stadium though that doesn't make them love him, but because he took their team and moved them. You literally asked why they didn't like him, got the answer and went straight into deflection mode.

You called me a liar, stated he takes money out of the club, there is proof of what I'm saying, there isn't proof of what you're saying and with every post you write a 'wall of text' which I read, and post back, to which you reply with nonsense, deflection and complaining about having to read a post... boo hoo. Call someone a liar because you don't understand plain facts and you'll get called out on it.

The loan is seemingly 2mil with a obligation to buy, I presume these are done purely for financial reasons. Either they don't have the 10mil today or FFP wise or something they'd prefer the 10mil on the books next year so it becomes almost a delayed payment.

He wouldn't be any good really, love the guy, played brilliantly for us when fit but, maybe it was bad luck or maybe it was our fault, either way he basically broke while at Arsenal. We need some reliably fit back up in several positions rather than the recent likes of Flamini/Arteta who were constantly unavailable for rotation to prevent others getting injured.

Still need an LB, a CB and a striker, if we get one of those I'll be surprised. Gibbs isn't anywhere near good enough and if asked to play consistently again would likely just get injured. We need a better and fitter LB with Monreal maybe being back up as he gets older(he turns 31 this year and isn't pretty meh offensively). CB, honestly Mert was already struggling, turns 32 soon, was bad in the biggest games and I can see someone with his frame/age struggling to get back to his best(which really wasn't good enough anyway). We need to be thinking about getting two top CBs to allow Kos to have some rest and rotation over the coming years, so Kos and two new CBs being the big three with Holding/Chambers getting the odd game and potentially being the longer term replacements. If we didn't have a CB injury crisis right now I'd say we really want Chambers out on loan, he needs to progress significantly and isn't close to good enough at the moment.

Deflecting? Ive no idea how you've come to that conclusion, i said that to you and then you turn it round, its mad. The simple fact is, you blame everything on Wenger. I provided a minimal amount of articles saying fans of his other sports club feel Kroenke isnt great long term for them, how about you go do some more reading about him and acknowledge Kroenke's role, you obviously won't and you'll keep peddling that Wenger has a transfer kitty of 200m if he wants it. And when did i call you a liar? Can you quote that bit? Just because i disagree with you doesnt mean im calling anyone a liar, you do realise that dont you? And again, why cant you just answer a simple question, do you think Kroenke holds the club back in anyway? A simple a yes or no is fine. And you have the audacity to say im deflecting, proper odd

I think there's a bit of both with regards to our spending. Wenger is a stubborn fool and the board are also not as free with money as they like to make out.

We definitely need at minimum a defender and a striker, I don't think anyone would disagree with that. If we get good enough ones we should be able to challenge for the league. Problem is I don't think any are going to happen. Walcott said he wanted to be on the wing again yet Wenger has come out and said he's a forward. There's Giroud's backup for you along with Akpom lol. Welbeck will be back next year too.... As to CB's it wouldn't surprise me to see Monreal + 1 of Holding or Chambers with Gibbs on the left until the others are fit again.

Why don't we buy Ashley Williams, wouldn't be that expensive and would do a decent job. Better than our 2 young ones, especially Chambers who I don't think will ever be a good defender. I can't believe the board wouldn't sanction 15 million considering our current crisis.

Why did we stop bidding on that French striker whose name I can't spell?

Midfield is clearly our strong area. I think Sanchez, Ozil, and Xhaka are nailed on starters.
Would guess Cazorla, Coquelin and El Neny would compete for the other central spot. Can't see him not starting Ramsey so he'll be on the right with Ox, Iwobi and Campbell as backups on either wing. Wilshere will cause some headaches but not be fit enough for it to be too much of a concern.

Not optimistic about the upcoming season at all.

I think we have enough financial firepower to compete with pretty much everyone, barring City, United, Chelsea and then obviously the likes of Bayern, Real and Barcelona. Most of the time when we're faffing around in the market, leaving it until the last minute and then panic buying I put it down to Arsene being Arsene. He has his principles and his own values, he wont splurge on a player if he doesn't think they're worth it, regardless of the way the market has gone in the past half decade.

We should have made signing a CB a priority regardless, then we should've made a signing almost as soon as Mertesacker was injured, and now Gabriel is out too that leaves us with Koscielny and the kids... It's an absolutely ridiculous situation for us to be in with only a handful of days left until the start of the season.

Any news on Wenger extending his contract?

From what I understand he does not want to retire any time soon. I reckon we should lock him up for another 3 years. Not like there is anyone else better out there for us.

I personally think Arsenal are in desperate need of a change.

Though the owners don't seem that keen on spending much money either.

Change for changes sake isn't always a good thing. I'm not a huge fan of Wenger, and our transfer policy does my head in - but I don't know who else is out there.

To me its clear we shouldn't be extending his contract until we see how the team performs this season, and then we should look at who else is available and interested in the role before we consider offering Arsene a new contract.

I thought Kos was injured too, was he just being rested?

Yeah, he was just given extra time off due to the Euros, he's not injured just not trained/played yet. I suspect we'll do the usual, rush him back due to another injury crisis, him playing tired and sooner than he should and without enough rest between games leads to him getting injured... same old Arsenal.

How old is Williams though?

We would just be adding another 30+ defender to Arsenal, we shouldn't just buy for the sake of it. I'd much prefer to give the youngers guys a go and hold out for a more expensive younger player. Mustafi? 25m, 25 years old as well i think. Talks happening next week apparently.

31 I think. Gabriel isn't good enough, Mert I think is going to be well off the pace this year and Chambers is awful. Holding has played half a season at a relegated championship club. Other than Kos none of them should be playing in the champions league and we will not challenge for the title with them playing consistently.

If we are genuinely interested in Mustafi then why have we let it go on so long!

Williams is going to be 32 in a few weeks. Gabriel not good enough? He seems alright, he doesn't speak very good english though so i'm sure that's hindering him a bit. He certainly has all the attributes for the PL, complete mutant. Pogba deal took a long time didn't it, sometime these contracts take a long time to cross the t's and dot the i's, he's been left out of the Valencia pre season tour to sign a contract next week apparently. Does it really matter if he comes this week or next week, as long as Arsenal get the best deal and not have their pants pulled down, who's cares whether it takes a bit longer.

Kos, Mustafi, Monreal, Gabriel, Holding & Chambers are our fit CB's...seems like enough to me. Compare UTD, City, Liverpool, Chelsea with our CB's, it's not like their squads a brimming with world class CB's either.

If we do end up getting Mustafi I'll be happy, but this is what infuriates me about Wenger.

Why make Mertesacker captain? The man needs shipping out the door.

When all are fit surely our top two pairing is Mustafi and Koscielny, so why on earth make Mertesacker captain!!

It's such mismanagement it's unbelievable.
