The ASUS Rampage V Extreme Thread

The PCI-E x8 slot shares it's bandwidth with the M.2, so only one can work at a time, but as you'll be using the PCI-E 3.0 slot 1 and slot 4, it would be fine :)

can someone give me some tips on how to overclock my 5960x on this board?

everytime I do any kind of overclock the machine refuses to boot :(

One way would be to run the 5way overclocking tool in AI suite this would give a rough indicator of potential, jot down settings once done and tweak from there, can't comment fully till mines up and running later today :D

Any word on whether this fixes the problem with Asus Xonar cards?

Which PCI slot are you trying to use ? Some combinations of Cards in conjunction with other components prevent PCI x8-4 for instance (third slot from the bottom) from functioning

It's all laid out in the manual what works with what if you need a pointer ?

Unfortunately it's a widespread problem with Xonar cards and X99 chipsets.

The card is recognised by Windows and you can hear the "click" when the Amp starts but no sound is output.

I have tried all spare slots. I am running 5930 with 2 x 980 GT in X16 slots.

I have read it is not just the Asus Xonar sound cards that has this issue with this board. Some Creative sound cards are facing the same issue.

I just hope I won't have any issues with my Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium - Fatal1ty Champion Series 7.1 Sound Card on this board.

I wonder if the issue is BIOS related only or something more serious like a hardware issue on this board.

I'm getting this issue with a Xonar D2X as well. No difference with swapping PCI-E slots. The only workaround I've found is dropping the OS in and out of sleep mode - not ideal but hopefully a solution will come along soon.

Has anyone tried the beta BIOS updates in conjunction with this problem yet?
