The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Got my Swift yesterday and it came with this plug. Made a post in the CS forum so hopefully they can sort it out.

Using another plug atm to get it running and I'm blown away with how awesome the monitor is. I'm used to 1440p having used a Dell Ultrasharp for the last couple of years but the combination of GSYNC and 144Hz is just a whole new story. Playing Watchdogs, Wolfenstein and Crysis 3 with no stuttering and smooth gameplay is something I thought I'd never see heh. Even Dead Rising 3 runs amazing maxed out!

I'm not the only one then. I chopped it off and put a UK plug on it.

I would probably been more ***** off if this monitor didn't perform as it does. Any annoyance I felt soon subsided...Even just switching the thing on is a bit of a WOW moment as it's instant. I had a feeling gsync was a bit of a gimmick but now I'm totally sold and couldn't go back.

Could not resist anymore! Just ordered mine! :D Hope 670 Sli will give me decent results, otherwise is 980 time

Only get a 980 if you are going to get a second. A pair of 970s are only slightly more expensive than a 980 and will blow if away. I went from 670 SLI at 1200p (16:10) to 970 SLI 1440p (16:9) and it was a balanced upgrade IMO.

I do plan to go SLi again. but i think il see how well the 670 handles 1st and if im not happy i will upgrade at a later date

Yer, interested if it is just a me thing.

Lol Arcane and I pretty much hid the CC up but spilled the beans when I got drunk :D

Luckily I had an oculus rift i sold plus the Sammy 4k, so the loss on the Sammy was hidden by the gain on the DK2 and all added up to more than the Swift, so "you see dear, I actually saved some money" arf!

I'm tempted to upgrade from i7 920 and 7970 to i7 5820k 2x 970s and Rog swift.

I'm just concerned about maxwell still being 28nm and 20nm is around the corner which will allow something like twice the amount of transistors to fit on the die making 970s rather obsolete.

The age old problem... when is the right time to buy?:D

No one can say for sure but I think if you think in 6 month periods now is the time, the reviews and hype speak for themselves:cool:

The reality is new tech is always around the corner, think in terms of the titles you play and what you need for releases coming soon:)
