The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Eh? You do know ulmb is only a feature of gsync monitors don't you?

Also a feature of some 120+Hz monitors and can be tricked into working on a number of monitors using a tweaked monitor definition and forcing 3D Vision settings - though probably not possible on the Hazro.

Don't know until I try ! I've been looking at it on blur busters & the early 1080p 120hz+ ones can use ULMB on some models...

Edit: Yeah, didn't work ! Managed to get quite far but after the restart it mashed the screen. Cheers anyway...

AndiC- You're simply overclocking your monitor Fella, nothing more. A good working overclock is nice though.
Also, not to be picky but we've strayed into talking about 'lightboost' hacks here. Far as I know, as I've never used it, it's a similar principle to ulmb but no where near as good. And ulmb is only available with a gsync module.

Should have the money together for one of these in the new year, but the thread does make you think twice. For the amount of money you would be expecting a bit better QA, but again there is the old adage of happy customers not really posting to think about. Hopefully by the time I have the cash these issues are sorted, and there may be a few more competitor products released that I can look at as well.

Yea, I really am leaning towards giving it a go. Been a bugger saving up as the car decided to pack in a while ago just before I have the cash together. With xmas here now I have had to fork out again.

Hopefully I get lucky and get one of the good ones first go!

Yeah I get it, I got to the part to trick the monitor into thinking its an 3D one & failed !
I'll start saving for a 1440p 144hz G-sync then, best see what Acer is going to bring to the table though this is really smart just shame its a bit of a lotto !!!

So I decided to take mine back for the dead pixel, absolutely terrific OCUK service, very pleased indeed.

New monitor has zero dead pixels, just has a bit of backlight bleed. Nothing too major, only when the screen is completely black. I'm a happy guy :)

Received my replacement monitor yesterday as the previous one had 2 dead pixels, seems ok so far.

Question though, this one came with a US and UK plug, whereas my previous only had a UK plug, anyone experienced the same, and any idea why?

You sure it wasn't an EU plug? OCUK ordered a bunch from the EU due to low stocks.

I collected mine from OCUK yesterday and they gave me a UK lead separately but there was one already in the box as well.

So far I like it, will have a black with Farcry 4 etc to test out G-sync and it's 144hz goodness.

Is it just a plug? USA uses half our voltage, plugging in a US product in our power grid could cause some serious damage unless the power supply is self-adjusting.

Re: backlight bleed, to my surprise, this issue was easily fixed by rubbing (very gently) a microfibre cloth over the monitor from up to down (I also did left to right) over the entire screen. Very small amount of pressure was needed. The backlight issue is now not noticeable at all.

Ok so currently I'm experiencing a "hazy" screen, mainly on white backgrounds. It's hard to explain, it's like there's grease/polish on my screen that hasn't been wiped off. It kind of makes white parts flicker a purple sort-of hint. Any ideas?

I used the calibration settings someone posted in here.
