The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

I'm assuming its the "screen door"/inversion type artefacts at 144Hz as mentioned earlier in the thread - if it bothers you try at 120Hz I don't get them at all at 120.

Oh balls :( Spotted a dead pixel... 2nd ROG to do it for me :(

Just got notification that a B-Grade monitor is being sent out as a replacement.

Can't help but feel somewhat nervous. Aren't B-Grade damaged / repaired / returned goods?

I paid a premium for this monitor at release. I don't really like the prospect of owning someone else's rejected goods just because mine failed after about 4 months of standard use due to faulty manufacturing.

Aye I'm not overly happy about it myself.

I'm not sure what the best avenue to go about this is though.
Initially I was asked to return it to ASUS directly myself. It was only after linking to this thread and referencing the bad experiences people had that overclockers arranged having it returned to them.
And now I'm having it replaced with another (by definition) damaged product.

Of course it probably won't be quite as bad as my first one was. It had just about every issue mentioned so far in this thread, along with a flickering white 1px thick horizontal line about 5mm from the top of the screen.

Think a dead/stuck/hot pixel is bad? Try 2560 of them in a row...

And that's on top of all of the other problems.

Might not be 'damaged' in the usual sense, could be working fine and just returned because the buyer no longer wanted. Surely the easiest thing to do is....try it first? :o

If the monitor isn't satisfactory just return, no harm done.

True. I just got a bit nervous when I read the banner on the item description:

"B Grade items may have been used, have damaged packaging, missing accessories or a combination of these.

Some items may have scuff marks or slight scratches but should otherwise be an operable product."

Tell me that doesn't put the chills up you when talking about something this expensive :p

Guys,

Just received my swift today, at first glance there are no dead pixels, there is a slight hint of blacklight bleeding - top right. So nothing major, somewhat of a relief given the nightmare stories I've read online.

If there is anything anyone wants me to test or run, things to check - let me know.

Thanks

just hope it wasn't one returned for dead pixels :p

It amazes me how slack people are these days when it comes to their consumer rights, especially for significantly costly outlays like the swift.

Not directed at anyone in particular, but if I'd paid for a brand new cutting edge expensive fully working faultless monitor, I expect to get a ****ing brand new cutting edge expensive fully working faultless monitor.

Retailers and manufacturers must literally **** themselves at how soft many end users are. It's no wonder general build quality and quality control has nosedived in recent years. The customers just accept it!

I agree, why would anyone expect a replacement from B Grade is beyond me.
