The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Horses for courses :)

I'm in the laid back camp, not a lot of things bother me.
I wont lose sleep because there's a dead pixel on my screen, or the blacklight bleeds slightly more than i expected.

Well put wunkley!

Amazing to see how some people have the attitude of "**** happens, just return it....."

Like I said before, it will be interesting to see how these people react when their monitors develop problems and achieve similar service....

I'd probably post on CS forum, setup RMA with OCUK and wait.
Probably wouldn't cry on this thread and how terrible it is that 'enter price here' monitor should never develop a fault...blah blah.

You've got ample warranty, seriously. If something goes wrong, who cares? RMA.

I don't see the point in crying over a dead pixel, pssh. Why am i repeating what i said 1 post up ;)

just had a dead pixel appear luckily it does not affect me atm it only shows as a faint black dot in the sky in games thought it was a mark on the screen.
cba to return it as i threw out the box and i wouldn't return it till i had a brand new replacement in hand, as long as it dont get worse will probably replace it when something else comes along.

People are getting annoyed over what they are getting back in return for such a high priced item i.e. used/refurb monitors, not necessarily getting annoyed over the problems.

I went through 3 RMA's for my LG screen due to excessive bleed/glow and a dead pixel in the central area, however, I didn't mind so much because my RMA's were dealt with extremely quickly and I got a brand new unopened monitor each time, now if I had to deal with LG and not OCUK then it would be a much bigger issue....

EDIT:

You've got ample warranty, seriously. If something goes wrong, who cares? RMA.

A lot of people care otherwise etailers like ocuk wouldn't see the value in having excellent customer service...

i threw out the box

That's what the loft is for!

Would they even entertain the idea of sending you out a monitor before you've sent yours back? I'd probably buy a second whilst mine is being returned, sell the replacement once received. No downtime then :)

If the bgrade is working, and they honour warranty as if it was new. Does it matter? If they only honoured bgrade warranty, then yes, i wouldn't accept that.

the box wouldn't fit in my loft hatch, lol well i didn't throw it out i sold my asus 2560x1440 and posted it in the swift box as it was a nice fit lol lol anyway as long as monitor dont affect gaming etc ill keep it and the amount i spend on my pc a new monitor is quite cheap may go 4k in new year if something new comes along, just about to do full loop upgrade and gpus £2k ++.

as for this b-grade discussion you as a consumer do not have to accept a b/grade as it is not a replacement for the product you originally purchased, technically its a second product regardless of warranty offered etc.

Guys anyone running one of these with AMD cards? Any problems??

Probably best getting this monitor with an Nvidia card bud seen as it supports g-sync. I purchased it with a MSI 970 GTX.

Or wait for the new freesync monitors in new year.

This monitor is easily the best purchase i have ever made for gaming. Games like Battlefield 4 are incredible with g-sync and im really pleased with how my MSI 970 is coping at 2560x1440.

Chuffed :)

And how about if every RMA request, webnote and post on the CS forum is met with the likes of:

"As this is a non DOA item it is replaced with a B grade item, we sent your monitor back to the manufacturer and only get a repair in return for it. So rather than you waiting 28 days to get a repair back we shipped it from one in stock we already have."

My issues were much, much worse than a dead pixel. There were serious defects which I would neither expect or accept from a monitor of ANY price.

But apparently ASUS and overclockers believe that monitors should be disposable / consumable merchandise with a lifespan of a few months.

Yesterday I went away from my computer and turned off my monitor. Came back a few hours later and turned it on and it was the most pixulated mess I've ever seen in my life, I had to reboot my PC in order to get it back to looking normal, wtf?

This is exactly what happened to me before things started going drastically downhill!

Be on the lookout for what looks like interference on solid colour, blurred text, horizontal banding and (if you're as unlucky as I was) flickering white 1px thick lines across the width of the monitor.

I really hope you're luckier than I was.

No idea why you're quoting me, i wasn't responding to you.
If i were (and i have, last page) you would know my answer, i wouldn't be bothered about having a bgrade item sent back, means i get it sooner. Otherwise you'd have to wait for Asus to pull their finger out and check/fix whatever is wrong.

If your warranty by accepting the bgrade is uneffected (that is you still get the rest of your 3 years) then what's the harm in accepting it?
If it's not faulty, and works how you expected, then, well done! You've saved yourself the hassle waiting for Asus! If it's not, and there's a defect. Oh well, warranty is intact and you start with another RMA.

I don't see the problem, but that's me. I'm obviously too laid back :o

But if you've now got a b grade item you've paid full retail for that's a bit off. Surely refund the difference between b grade and retail too

You've paid full retail for 3 years warranty, not 90 days with bgrade.

I wouldn't accept bgrade as a replacement *IF* i lose the rest of my warranty. I would have no problems otherwise. a lot of the bgrade items are probably returned because people had a change of heart.

The chance of you getting a broken unit brand new or from bgrade is broadly similar.

+1, you paid full retail price to get the 3 year warranty
unless it was DOA, warranty replacements only have to be in working order and (reasonably) in no worse condition than the item you returned... if a b grade turns up and it's scratched to **** and the item you returned was mint then yeah kick up a fuss, otherwise it's completely fair, you can't always expect a completely new item for an RMA

No you paid full retail for a cosmetically perfect product including all packaging and parts.

Not for a product with minor cosmetic damage and possibly missing packaging and parts.

Hey guys :>

I'm reaaaally interested in the Rog Swift, although I'm trying to justify the price (who isnt? :D)

Have a quick question, I primarily play CS:GO, Fifa and WoW, the latter 2 will be fine with 1440p but what about CS resolution? Im used to playing 16:9 / 1080p, how will it affect that? Anyone playing it? Are you using the native res or still with 1080p?

Cheers!

(Sucks to see many people having issues with this product, hope it gets sorted :) )

I'd say go for it. I was lurking for a while and then decided to just do it. My swift is perfect and I play lots of WoW on it. On the 144Hz setting with fps cap at slightly under this (135), I have almost zero input lag which is great for PvP. It has improved my game considerably and my performance.
