 What do you have your PC system 3m+ metres (9+ Feet) away from your desk ?

4k 50 @ 9 foot and to the left .asus rog swift on a vesa mount. 4 foot arm.
Need to recline, due to back injury years ago. fell from a high, and i just had a spinal operation. 16weeks ago 90% atm recovered.
Requireing Differant nurses each day for 3 month's
or maybe.:) Depending on how you look at it . lol

Brought the rog just before OP. So been unable to really use it, With my 3m cable, the computer has been hard reset, loads of times. Due to cable.

So for years, pc gaming Reclineing. So all usb's and other cables have to be long.

Only since displayport, and rog swift this has been a major problem for me.
not raelly used the rog yet, Becouse out of 5 cables. 1, 3m cable from ebay. creates problems where the screen would go blank or fuzzy. every 5minites or 2 hours. The other's cables total Blank screen. apart from 1.8m

Thinking this was a driver problem, left it for months. Its the god dam cable.
So i side graded from 780ti tri sli, too 980 sli, for connections. 1 gig vram.
room less heat, and less stutters.
980 sli cards going back monday. due to Other problems.

So my pc gaming has been a lot of hassle over the 16 weeks. hardware problems. and trying to sort it. while my spine is dishing out load of bloody gunk. Thought i was going to Die.

Just need to replace the 980.s then get a working 3m or 5m cable for the rog.
And hopefully. all working. Will be after christmas now tho. Me thinks

Would be a lot easy, useing a ps4 or xbox for entertainment, But 30 fps and 900p kills it. lol

So after Its all working. Just need to remind my self dont install ubisoft games. lol

I bet you wished you never asked lol.:p

If you go to a certain rainforest and then search "cables 4 all displayport"
You will then see one called "cables 4 all deluxe 3m displayport cable - displayport 1.2, gold plated, up to 4k" etc, etc. The 5m version as I said works fine on 4k and the swift so you should have no issue with the 3m one at all. They cost £7.99. :)

Already got two of them in 5m. Thats why im confused and the ebay shop confused it wont pick up any single on the rog. But both work on my 4k.

When i spoke to OVuk over the phone they said that only the 1.8m cable that came with it. would work.

This is crazy. lol Try a Another 3m one. smae brand. I will have my own Cabe shop soon. lol

Thanks for Info tho

I've got 2 cables that are same brand, same model, etc. one gives me 4K and works with the Swift fine and the other = random flicker and the only difference is that one of them is 1-2cm longer than the other. Once your past ~1.8-2m its a complete lottery if anything works reliably with resolutions/refresh rates that are close to the max bandwidth of DP in my experience.

Guys, can anyone shed some light on the official warranty for this monitor?

I'm on my third one, the first being fine display wise was but having a 5 inch deep scratch in the front of the stand, the second two dead pixels, and my current one constantly flickers and flashes regardless of what Hz the monitor is and whether or not G sync is on or off, the text is blurry and is just a nightmare to use, I'm on the latest drivers, re-seated all the cables etc, just cannot fix the issue. I received the monitor on the 4th, having had it for 17 days now.

I got in touch with customer services through the forums and have been told I'd have to send it Asus directly, being told this:

'On monitors, laptops etc warranty is all on site with the manufacturer as stated within product description.

We can RMA it if it is within 28 days and is faulty but the manufacturer offer the on site really.

Asus monitors do have a 14 day DOA period on them.

I got in contact on the forums as soon as I noticed the issues, the 17th and the 18th of this month, at which point I'd owned the monitor for 13 and 14 days respectively. I cant afford to go 2 to 2 1/2 weeks without a replacement monitor via Asus, and feel I'm entitled to support through Overclockers as I'm within the warranty period, which as stated on the monitors page is: "Warranty: 3yr (28 Day OcUK DOA, Asus After)".

Any feedback would be highly appreciated.

Would I be silly getting this monitor for my AMD 290 system? Would like to try 144hz as I'm currently using an old 22" 60hz but all the ones without g sync seem to be 1080p!

Would I be silly getting this monitor for my AMD 290 system?
Also looks a little silly owning an AMD 290 system and having NvidiaDan as your user name....:D

There been a lot of talk on here and other forums saying that there problems trying to run this monitor at 144hz with AMD GPU's..
So you be best to do some research from any AMD GPU owners that own this monitor before buying..

Here some quotes from this thread.
Does anyone have this monitor working with AMD cards? Because it seems to hate them.

I was running 2 x 290s and couldnt go above 120hz. If I tried 144hz, the screen looked like death.

I just changed the 290s for a 295X2, and guess what. Now I can't even run above 60hz without display link failures, and black flickering. So I am stuck at 60hz....

/slitswrists
As someone stated the Swift doesn't like AMD cards is very true.

I had an R9 295x2. I got this monitor and anything over 85hz would cause issues. So I sent the card back and grabbed some 980's. The Monitor requires G-sync working to achieve above 100/120/144hz.
So really you have 3 choices:
Either live with the 85hz knowing you're not getting the most out of the monitor.
Send the monitor back which will probably cost a bit in shipping.
Or get your self a 970 or two.

I'd go with the last option personally.

Oh and on the other topic, shame a lot of people are being put off by the monitor. Running this monitor with a pair of Nvidia cards is fantastic. Best monitor i've ever owned, absolutely love it for gaming.
I'm using AMD so 144Hz causes the screen to flicker like crazy as others have mentioned. Running on 120Hz occasionally causes the screen to go black for half a second every now and then :( Hopefully they update the drivers to fix this. Pretty poor really that Asus never tested it on AMD cards, even though they clearly state it works with them, just without G-Sync. At least they have informed AMD about it now (from ROG forums.)

I was thinking of returning it, but the high res and 120Hz is too good :D
Getting grey screen on desktop when 144hz is enabled. Thank you AMD.. @ 60hz it's fine.

Don't take the first answer, if you've had multiple of these monitors and each one has developed or come with a fault within the 28 days I would keep pushing OCUK to deal with it until you have a monitor that arrives with no faults and doesn't develop any within the first 28 days

effectively by their own standards each of the monitors they've sent to you so far has been "DOA", so I would say that you are within your rights to demand a new monitor or a full refund... if OCUK and Asus are going to say that your warranty starts from the invoice date then I would actually demand a full refund and then re-buy on a new invoice so that you get the full warranty and not lose the first however many weeks/months to the fact that all of your monitors so far have been DOA and you've effectively not even had a first proper delivery so far

did you buy on a credit card? if so, and being on your 4th replacement, you can go to your credit card company and tell them that OCUK have never provided you with a product that is fit for purpose and as described and that you want a full refund, though it shouldn't come to that as normally posting in the CS section on the forum and getting bailey or 5ub or even gibbo involved gets things sorted quickly

it look to me like the first person to read the latest note has only seen the latest note and the invoice date and put 2+2 together and come up with 273... they need to look at the full history and see how unlucky you've been

To be honest if you have the RMA numbers, I can't see how you can be held responsible for a 14 DOA period, since you have not had the monitor for 14 days working. Just demand a full refund. you have been more than patient. if you look through the thread you will see that the two replacements are likely refurbs .....

I did indeed purchase via credit card, the monitor was part of a 3.1K purchase for parts for an entire system, just in case of an issue like this. The person who I've speaking to via customer services is in fact Bailey, I must state though, I do not want to portray him negatively, as he has been very helpful personally, I've had issues with some peripherals in the past, and they've all been sorted, I can't praise Overclockers enough, but I don't feel I'm being treated fairly in this instance.

I have the RMA numbers in email form, I just want a monitor that is flawless, working condition, at the time of purchase at £630, that's what I expect. As I said, I received the monitor on the 4th, but I did not receive an attached invoice, just an email titled 'invoice', I've been chasing it up for the last few weeks but have been told the email system has been down and should recieve it soon, but I still haven't. I have no other monitor to use in the meantime, and have had two periods of having to wait for the monitor to be replaced already, although fair play to Overclockers, they have turned them around in 2-3 days. I'm not sure if they've been refurbs Magpie, they've come with all the accessories, Asus blue tape on the box etc, but I can't be sure.

I'm waiting for a response tomorrow when the staff return to work, but I can't afford to go through Asus and wait so long when I feel I'm still entitled to a warranty.

Anyone tried the ROG swift 3d Vision capability? Do you need a 3D vision kit? I have active 3D glasses with my panasonic viera TV (6 sets) so ideally I don't want to buy yet another set. Do I need an IR emitter or can I just use the panasonic active 3D glasses to make it work?

I've noticed that my Swift is turning itself on (not from standby). I came home just now and it was one standby - last night it woke me up when it came on.

ROG Swift Skynet edition?
