The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

I'm not a monitor expert but will this help much? Will I see a difference from default settings?

My swift should arrive Monday hopefully :)

Suck it and see boyo :)

It will help yes. Most monitors 'default' settings are usually pretty bad. It all depends how picky you are though to a certain extent. I'm in the OCD category of pickyness when it comes to all things visual.

For me it was huge - though I'm a bit fussy about it. Out the box the panel is a bit "bleached" looking those tweaks makes blacks look immeasurably nicer.

One thing to possibly be aware of - mine after about a week of use altered a bit which might throw off any initial calibration settings - mine was quite reddish out the box and over a few weeks even with default settings has settled to much more balanced colours (its very noticeable if I use my original calibration settings there is now way too much green). Hazarding a guess I wonder if there are capacitors in these that take a little while to "wear in" would explain why some peoples suddenly develop issues after about 4 weeks.

Mine has arrived! got a problem though

everytime I boot to windows it keeps black screening > out of range > when I get back to desktop it fixes resolution from where i left it then normal. Its not a big issue that i would go and take it back, but its godamn annoying if i have to go through this at every boot up. It can take 30-45 seconds to fix it self but Id rather not have the problem in the first place. In gaming its fine, just the resolution changes and stuff, I dont know if thats supposed to happen or g sync is kicking in or what?

I have tried ddu reinstall drivers and manually setting refresh rate in nvidia control panel and monitor menu to match. no change.

Got mine Saturday, loving it so far. G-sync is really great such a smooth gameplay experience.

I have followed some of the setup settings in here as well which was defo needed as some have said its a bit washed out with standard settings, but now on tweaked its not to far from my Dell IPS that i now use as the 2nd non gaming screen.

nvm found out gpu tweak was messing with the refresh rate. switched to msi ab. no more boot isuues!!

Still get the windows popping in and out in game menus and loadups though.

Other than that it is soooooo silky smooth!

Borrowed a 3D vision 2 kit from a pal just watched xmen in 3d on the swift, pretty cool! Can't quite get games calibrated right yet but I know what settings need changing they just need some time putting into them:).

Better than cinema 3D by a marathon

Games that support 3d vision look amazing, for example Tomb Raider. Ones experienced, it is hard to go back to 2d.
Unfortunately most of the games do not look good out of the box. I recommend this site: http://helixmod.blogspot.co.uk/, you will find 3d fixes for most games. Enjoy:-)

Im thinking of grabbing a B grade one of these as the price is pretty good but im worried about the risk of getting one covered in dead pixels or with extreme backlight bleed.

do you think its worth the risk? a new one is well out if my budget

Ive never (touch wood) had a monitor break or fail on me so far, I would love to have the money to buy a new one but my budget is pretty fixed and the B grade swift at its limit

I would love to know exactly what makes the monitors B grade, it would make my decision so much easier

I sure b grades are just returns maybe cables missing or some marks not sure.
Lucky for me my asus monitor was under warranty when it broke then about a month after it broke again and this ones been great so far, dont think I could pay much for a monitor with no warranty again.
