The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

So I've had my replacement Swift for around 2 and a half months now. Its been absolutely fine. In fact, damn near perfect.

However in the last couple of weeks the monitor has been powering its self on; when my PC is off. Within 30 minutes of been powered off It displays the ROG splash screen, then 'no input' then goes into standby, then repeats after another 30 minutes or so.

I have read on other sites people having this problem, but no clear solution.
Some have mentioned it may be the power brick. I don't want to RMA because as I mentioned, the display its self is otherwise flawless.

(Sorry If this has been touched upon in pages gone by. Haven't visited this thread in a while, cba to read through :D)

Hope someone can help. :(

Mine i got in feb from ocuk has just started having a similar problem. it turns itself on and now it wont turn on using the button have to pull the plug out of the wall for a few seconds then plug it back in to turn it on.

what happens with RMAing monitors cause i can imagine if i have to pay the shipping abck that could cost a fortune?

Would not RMA it over the power brick - you'll get someone elses grotty failing panel back round robin style - try and source an equivalent power supply if possible IMO.

dunno if it is the power brick or the monitor though.

the screen is prefect no noticeable bleed and no dead pixels so id like to keep it but its getting ridiculous having to keep it unplugged.

think asus or ocuk can just send out a new power brick to test?

Hi Leon!

You will need a new power supply. Had the same problem. nothing wrong with the mon.

Yes they will just ship it out. I originally told them they should have sent me a power supply at 1st, but they sent me a panel, and after testing it did the same thing, so i told them i have the same problem and it was the power supply that could be the problem and they sent one out and i received within 2 days.

Brightness 40 - I mainly use my monitor in the evening so for daytime use you might want it a bit higher
And in NVCP gamma set to about .8- .9

Those are the main ones, colours might need a small adjustment (get up a full screen image of grey and see if you can make out any kind of red, green or blue tinge and then dial down that one colour slightly), and play with contrast as well

If you google Lagom, they have some calibration images that will help to make adjustments

Yup, as Andy said most people use 40/40 with calibrated icm profiles.

Out the box the profile is good and don't really notice the difference to calibrated settings, greys are all grey and boxes are easy to distinguish at these dimmed settings for normal use.

Gaming I increase only the brightness to 60 during the day for BF4/Alien Isolation cos it's dark at times, 50 at night. Settings on Nvidia drivers and the game at default other than contrast bumped up 5 to 55 and vibrance up 5 to 55 too.

Once set you only play with brightness and that takes 2 seconds :)

What monitor settings are you guys using??

Brightness: 25
Contrast: 50
Colour Mode: User
Red: 99
Green: 98
Blue: 99

Gamma 0.90 in the nvidia control panel.

Best settings I've found. If I have the lights off I find it uncomfortable looking at a white screen with 25 brightness, with the lights on its perfect through and any lower makes it look a bit too dull.

40 would do my head in!

Had something odd happen where I knew the screen was brighter than normal upon startup meaning GSync was on - I prefer it not to be until I game.

-Checked in drivers if GSync was on and it wasn't it was unticked
-ULMB mode was activate too in global settings
-Swift OSD said Gsync was activate and ULMB mode was grey out, untickable

Gonna put this one down to the drivers even though I'm using the latest ones

Just came back from holiday to find a bug/foreign object behind the top left hand corner of the screen. To say im gutted is an understatement as I really like this monitor and now I have to start the dreaded Asus rma.
