The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

I've noticed my ROG Swift has started turning on by itself! I turn it off and when I come back home it's gone to standby. Anyone else come across this issue?

Requested a replacement via the Rainforest shop, but the annoying thing is the panel itself is great. I suspect this is just a power supply issue? I don't think I'll have any luck trying to get a new psu sent out from Asus.

I'm sure I've read that you can request a replacement thru Asus without having to return the panel :)

Yeah if the panel is good try sourcing a compatible 19v/100watt power supply first it just isn't worth the risk of getting a rubbish replacement.

Some people have had success but chances are you'll end up with a first batch replacement that will start doing the same thing within weeks or months :S

Right sorry to be a pain but I've re-recorded a better video of my problem in BF4.

This is more noticeable when you die and get the larger transparent rectangle across the screen.

Also all my dark areas on BF4 seem to have a very purple tinge to them. It's actually more noticeable on the photo but you can definitely see it with the naked eye.

Is this looking like an RMA job? I'm a bit annoyed this £500 panel isn't as good image quality wise as my £150 monitor.
Why o why didn't I listen to the people saying don't buy this monitor :(

*sigh*

After raising my RMA specifically requesting just a new PSU on the 31st of August, I've just had them attempt to deliver an entire new monitor for a second time. I'm actually baffled as to just how wrong they can get this....... There support is so poor and disjointed, it's such a shame to experience this on such a good product.

Is there anyone from OcUK reading this that has any links with ASUS? It would be awesome to see someone from here show them this thread. The whole premise of people buying £600 monitors having to replace the PSU's themselves as ASUS are seemingly incapable of doing this is something they need to be addressing :(

Pass, when I say new monitor I more accurately mean a replacement screen rather than simply a PSU. The first attempt it was a full size ROG Swift box that the delivery driver said felt heavy enough to contain a full screen and when my other half asked if she could simply swap the PSU's over he said no.....

Second time I was on holiday when I got the notification (this was after ASUS told me it would just be a PSU) so I requested the deliver to neighbour option as they are normally in. They phoned me in the delivery slot asking if the neighbour would have the collection At which point I ask what are they actually delivering to be told it's a big heavy box that says "Swift gaming monitor" on it. At which point I sigh, apologise to the delivery driver and tell him they have got it wrong again can he simply mark it as delivery rejected and return to sender.

I'm very anti having my screen changed as I seem to have 0 backlight bleed, no dead pixels, and none of the other issues mentioned that others have suffered in this thread. It's literally just the random turning on issue which many have said is sold by a PSU. The guys I can talk to at ASUS even seem to acknowledge this is a fix as they never sound surprised. It just takes them days to respond to messages, weeks to actually deliver a replacement, and they then get it wrong repeatedly when they do actually pull something off......

I would hold on to a good one for dear life. You don't want to get into and RMA nightmare like others have. Don't let Asus take a good one from you. :D

If push comes to shove, just buy the third party power adapter and be done with it. You're not guaranteed to get a good one of those either, according to some other forums I've been in.

You got another one? I thought you'd sworn off it?

Well I talked to an Asus rep a few weeks back and he said the newer batches shouldn't have any problems due to the refinements made, Apparently it was a load of tosh as only 3 days in I spotted 2 dead pixels and mere days later another dead pixel followed by 2 stuck pixels.

Shame really as I really do like the Swift but the panel QC is the worst I have ever seen.

Just hooked up my old cheap TN panel monitor next to my Swift to check the colours in dark spots to see if it's the game and it isn't.
Cheap monitor has lovely dark black and my expensive Swift is lovely and purple.
Don't know whether to just return it or try a replacement

My 2 cents would be to return it. I've had a good panel and I've regretted buying it since day 1 because it has never blown me away. The colour saturation and viewing angle (even when staring directly at it) has been a massive bug bear. The only thing good about it is gsync and the speed.

However, I am returning mine due to a bloody thunderbug being stuck behind the screen which I cannot get rid of, even with a suction pad. It's been there for a while, but I'm gonna be without a pc for a bit so giving their RMA process a shot. I've told them it's dead pixels to avoid as much bs as possible.

If I do get a duff replacement, rma that, then get a another duff, isn't there a limit to how many times you can have replacements before being guaranteed a refund? I recall OCUK's 4 letter competitor saying that I would need to return 3 of the same motherboards before I was due a refund. I really don't want to be mucking around with 7 like Dicehunter!

Stores/manufacturers have to repair items up to 6 months from purchases (onus is now on them otherwise after 6 months it's down to you to prove a fault). This is part of the changes that was announced in the Consumer Rights Act 2015 to bring it up to date.

They have only once chance at a repair and after that you have a right to ask for a refund, usual 6 months.

I am one of the fortunate bunch here that *touch wood* is completely unaffected and have had my monitor for about 5 months. I do have a couple of issues with this monitor and that is the Light in Motion never works (always on red on every driver I tried) and ULMB sometimes works ie screen is either bright or very dim - clearly it's not working on 358.50 as the Pulse Width that dims the screen makes zero difference.

without doing any reading of the thread. my monitor isnt turning on first time.

having to unplug it and plug it back in.

is the problem the power pack?

Yep sounds like the power pack. Raised an RMA for mine with Asus and will post the outcome and experience here.

If I have no luck with Asus support then I'll just grab a third-party one.

I'll see if we have a spare at work can borrow to test and conform the fault. If it is the case, am I reading it right that there is issues getting just the powerpack off them?

If that's the case then I will speak to Gibbo and returns to see if we can provoke Asus to sort this out.

Does the "Light in Motion" option in the OSD do anything or does it just stay on ?

OSD options are "ON" or "OFF".

Off is best because it doesn't work in my case. It stays on red around the base meaning G-Sync is on and why I have to disable it when not in GSync mode. Others say it stays on red regardless of the mode but you may not experience this issue.

Asus panel lottery, battery pack lottery, L.I.M. lottery ....

Im having to send mine back for a 2nd time !

First one had stuck red pixels, Asus sent out door to door replacement.
No issues with RMA process or collection.

The replacement monitor is now flickering out of control. I thought it was a bad Nivida Driver but after testing and playing around with the Hz Rates from 60 - 144. its just down to the poor quality of the monitor.

I'm forced to run everything at 60hz. anything above this even when sitting on windows desktop, Font blinks, the background flickers, font is blurry to read, in game there's constant flickering which shouldn't be there, and again everything running at 60hz.

Id be tempted to try and get Asus to send out the IPS model, id even be willing to pay the difference. to be fair this range should be recalled and sorted out once and for all.
