The Asus ROG SWIFT PG278Q – a 27” 1400p 144Hz Monitor with G-SYNC

Im having to send mine back for a 2nd time !

First one had stuck red pixels, Asus sent out door to door replacement.
No issues with RMA process or collection.

The replacement monitor is now flickering out of control. I thought it was a bad Nivida Driver but after testing and playing around with the Hz Rates from 60 - 144. its just down to the poor quality of the monitor.

I'm forced to run everything at 60hz. anything above this even when sitting on windows desktop, Font blinks, the background flickers, font is blurry to read, in game there's constant flickering which shouldn't be there, and again everything running at 60hz.

Id be tempted to try and get Asus to send out the IPS model, id even be willing to pay the difference. to be fair this range should be recalled and sorted out once and for all.

Asus should really just give everyone that has the TN model the option of going over to the IPS model as the issues with this model are horrendous and the most problematic monitor I have ever owned.

I'll see if we have a spare at work can borrow to test and conform the fault. If it is the case, am I reading it right that there is issues getting just the powerpack off them?

If that's the case then I will speak to Gibbo and returns to see if we can provoke Asus to sort this out.

If it's anything like my experience then yes it will be an issue :( I logged my RMA on the 31st of August, a couple of days ago they sent me a second replacement monitor I had to refuse but still now power pack. Now the main service centre is just fobbing me off with the "RMA Centre" number to ring to ask them for a power pack instead. :(

I'll be monitoring my RMA like a hawk (new psu required). Gave them a call yesterday in response to their automated email suggesting a full panel replacement will be booked in. He assured me it'd just be a psu that would be sent out and he'd contact the RMA team instructing them to do so. Will see what happens and I'll post my experience here. I'll be sure to name and shame them where I can if it all goes wrong :)

Exactly the same as what they told me after I also followed up with a phone call querying the automated e-mail :P

Will be interesting to see if they manage to get yours right!

Ha! I'm not holding my hopes up. I'm going to follow up with another phone call later today as they said I'd receive a response within the next 24 hours (called at 4pm yesterday). Don't want to give them any excuses.

Just rang the "RMA Department". It's the same people I spoke to in the first place when logging my original RMA :/

They assure me it's again been escalated to "second line", but when I tried to express just how disappointed I am in the service they offered they just dont seem to care. He even cut me off mid flow simply to give me my reference number.

I'll definitely be thinking twice before touching anything ASUS again.

Go Dell next time, Better quality all round.

Yeah definitely sticking with Dell and Samsung in the future (who I normally purchase from) - so far had great results with both.

Indeed, I normally stick with Dell Ultrasharps and have never had a problem but I've gone through 7, Yes 7 Swifts, I have never had so many problems with a monitor and I'm sick of Asus reps saying "Oh it's an isolated incident", Total BS, Nothing isolated about it, It' simply a case of Asus cheaping out on the panel and using some dirt cheap thing from AU Optronics.

Yep, before this I had a dell 2407-HC as my main and an E248WFP as my secondary. I gave the E248 to my mum and the 2407-HC is now my secondary screen. That's got to be knocking on for being 8 years old now and last time I checked the service menu it was in the 12,000 hours of use area, it's still going strong as well!

Unfortunately when I was buying Dell didn't make anything comparable :(

For all of you in need of a power adapter replacement, do what I did and buy that 3rd party one I linked a couple of pages back.

Spend the 16 quid save yourself's a lot of hassle!

If that doesn't work then you and the Swift, where probably never meant to be...

The problem is people shouldn't have to do that especially for a monitor less than 1-2 years old that originally cost £750/800 when first released and still costs a fair bit even now @ £600. Also, asus and retailers always make a big song and dance about the asus/monitor comprising on nothing and being a premium monitor etc.

Just watched mine go wrong before my eyes :( at 144Hz the whole right hand side of the screen is pulsing and doing the fuzzy text thing :( on top of the power adapter failing.

RMA time :S

Knew I shouldn't have given Asus another chance.

Man that sucks, is this your first RMA and is the text fuzzy on other frequencies like others?

At this rate I'm losing track of the number of returns on Asus GSync monitors (saying Asus as they are a popular choice).

Was anyone keeping count or does OCUK have stats to hand? Is it worrying enough not to stock them until they/therefore us get reassurance over QA?

I switch on GSync for only when I game then turn it off to try my best to avoid this kicking in. Down to back luck if the power adapter goes, I keep that tiny thing on my desk behind my monitor where it's cooler. Purely a placebo but we all have our sporting rituals!
