The Asus X99 Deluxe Owners Thread

Updated OP to include 1004.

I still haven't gone for my upgrade, life to hectic atm but still think this is the best option for me.

However having taken part in the Skynet challenge made me look around the net and found the Asus Z10PE-D8 WS

There's an upgrade for the cpu folding !

bit confused about my overclock settings at the moment. if I go with the AI 3 util it keeps the BLKLK at 100MHz and does not clock my memory above 2333.

on 0902, everything was nice and quiet. however, on 0904 and 1004 I get some sort of whine/ high pitched sound and it's driving me insane! has anyone else noticed that?

So i've tried every BIOS and i've an issue with C_1 and C_2 Ramm slots.
XMP settings installed or not windows will boot fine but as soon as I install a ramm module into this socket it'll blue screen from memory error.

I've tried 3 memory tests and with A_1,A_2,B_1, B_2, D_1,D_2 the sticks show as fine but as soon as C_1 and C_2 are used, the mem test fails and most often fails to even finish as it'll halt the test and reboot.

Asus Deluxe, 5930k, Corsair DDR4 Vengence 2666 mhz Ram (XMP has 2666/2800, no XMP is 2133) RM Gold 850w PSU from Corsair, Kingston Hyper X boot drive. All of the power seems totally fine, within nominal values, its all wc'd system with VRM on the mobo never breaking 50c (I've fans dedicated to cooling it). Its not a heat issue.

I'd hope its not a bad board.

I'm going to have to agree with Delpy8 I'm afraid.
can you reset everything to factory setting and do a clean install?
if it still doesn't work and you don't have access to another ram kit, RMA it

Check if you board is seated correctly as it could be warped causing the dimms not to connect in the slot

Board is seated perfectly level, checked it already.

Did a re-install of it all before RMaing the first ram and msi 980 4g.

This is the second kit, I was wondering it it was some setting i'd missed, cmos was cleared, bios from 804, 904, 1004 all tried. No luck.

I am having RAM issues, I had 8*4gb Crucial 2133 and it worked fine but I needed more ram so sold 4*4GB and got 4*8 to add so now have 4*4(single sided) + 4*8(double sided). The mainboard now sticks at the memory LED light, if I hold the power button to turn it off and then power back it post and gives an overclock failed message “press F1 to enter UFI”. I do not overclock and the only BIOS setting I change is to turn the vm stuff on and disable the audio. I also noticed that changing the mouse to a different USB port helped as it did not post at all before I did that? I am now running with 4*8GB as it passed memtest so all the RAM works just not together?

Latest Bios?

Has the latest 1004 Bios cured the problems with the xonar essence stx. I have a pre-overclocked bundle and don't want to update the bios until I know it definitely works.

One other thing. Just picked up a Samsung XP941 256GB M.2 HDD. It's showing up in Windows disk management but not showing in the bios as a boot device. Everything I have read about this board says it should boot the m.2 drive like a normal SSD out of the box. Anyone got any ideas?

Don't know if anyone can help.. have bought an X99-S motherboard (which as far as I'm aware is pretty much identical to DELUXE minus the WiFi) and am confused as to the purpose of the TPU, EPU and EZ XMP switches on the motherboard.

The board came with these all disabled, and I'm about to try to use the 5-Way Optimisation feature to get a moderate overclock (it's a work PC, needs to be stable and as quiet as reasonably possible, preferably only ramping up in speed/volume when needed), but I don't know whether I need to toggle all of these switches to ON or not. The manual isn't clear, and it isn't obvious whether or not you have to do this to use 5-Way Optimisation at all?

You either use one or the other. If you are going to use the A I Suite software then leave the switches in their off position.

Apologies for the newbie questions, it's been a while since I've done any PC overclocking and first time on X99 and Haswell-E.

I let the Ai Suite "5 Way Optimisation" do its thing (looked impressive, even though I've never really felt confident in automated settings). It got up to 4.7Ghz at around 1.3v before it crapped out and BSOD. The BSOD appeared to relate to the memory.

After rebooting it had configured itself to run at 4.6Ghz (100.2 x 46?), at around 1.267v from memory. Ideally I'd like to run it as low voltage as possible, and aim for around 4.5Ghz. I have no idea what voltages the 5930k is safe to run at for extended periods of time, and bearing in mind that its a work PC it needs to be working a year or more from now.

It's a video encoding PC for one of the guys in the office so doesn't need to run at those speeds unless he's actually doing that.

I had a peek in the TPU settings in Ai Suite 3 and it was set up as "Adaptive" voltage, with a Base and Offset voltage - but at that point I didn't really know what to do to make it stable at both normal and overclocked speeds (i.e. I didn't want to drop the voltage too low for normal clock usage).

Any help gratefully received. :)

EDIT: CPU is cooled by a Corsair H110. Ai Suite 3 reported the max temperature as 66C during testing, but I believe that was only for 15 second cycles (default settings).
