The Asus X99 Deluxe Owners Thread

Thanks for the rapid reply Deply, just thought I'd double check.

Would you say it's worth updating the bios if I'm not having any grief? I haven't applied any overclock yet to the cpu or memory, haven't experienced any major problems as I said, what do you think?

I would update the bios, Ive actually rolled mine back to 1004 as Im having fan control issues,I would update to 0904 or 1004 as they seem the most stable for me

Just out

X99-DELUXE BIOS 1103
Improve system stability.

gona try it now

I wish the configuration backups you can do actually ******* worked between revisions. It caught me out the first time and I had to spend ages getting things back to how they were before. Now I just resort to taking photo's of about 11 different screens before doing an update.

I done exactly the same thing last week. I just keep the pics on my phone just in case. Think I will stick with bios 1004 for now. fixed my sound card issue and everything seems stable enough for now.

Hi BloodZeed,

I would suggest you to change the motherboard to Asus X99-S as this one look identical and has the same level of performance as the Deluxe version. The only down side is it does not have the built in wifi module and 2 sata & USB ports less. But saving £60 is worth it.
Secondly, with that same price level I would suggest the SuperFlower Leadex GOLD 850W Fully Modular "80 Plus Gold" Power Supply - Black. More power + 80plus Gold for identical price.
As about the case, it is more about yourself than the other really. Your preference about aesthetic could be very different compared to others. In my opinion, I like the Inwin 904 case. But this case is a questionable product and has so many problems when assembling all the parts together.

Best,

Danny

Hi,

CPU-Z reads the VID on Haswell-E, this is the voltage the cpu thinks it's receiving. AI Suite will be reading the vcore. You can probably increase your cache frequency to at least 3.5 without much trouble, at most 20mv on cache voltage. This frequency scales with core frequency with Intel spec so 3.5 should be no trouble.

Hi All,
Could i just take a moment to pick everyones brains RE: setting up the M.2 slot on the Asus Deluxe X-99? I've just put together a new build with this motherboard and wanted use a Plextor M6e M.2 PCI-E 256GB as the boot disk.

The drive doesn't show up in the BIOS no matter what i seem to do, whether by using the socket on the motherboard or the provided PCiE card. I've tried unplugging all the other SATA devices to no avail. In fact the only way i'm able to get the PCiE 5 slot setting to show in the Onboard Devices menu of the BIOS is by clearing the CMOS settings. This doesn't solve the problem though as it's disappeared next time the computer reboots.

I'm hoping i'm missing something really obvious but i'm beggining to suspect there may be something wrong with the M.2 slot/PCiE5 slot on the motherboard. The M.2 drive seems to one of the compatible ones listed by Asus, albeit a larger size. Does anyone have any ideas or should i start the process of RMAing the board?

Thanks a lot!

I couldn't get mine to show until I disconnected all other drives including externals. After operating system had installed successfully, plugged all the drives back in and all is well

Thanks chainy, I'd spotted that in the thread and had already given it a try, both in the vertical slot and pci card. Do you remember if you fiddled with any bios settings too? Or if the pcie5 was showing up as a device in the on board devices menu prior to the drive showing up? Like i said mine only shows up after i clear the cmos and reboot.

So question..

Besides a bad dimm slot (c1/2) I've had a weird issue with my board, the usb 3.0 I/O header has shut off power to my mouse several times. I was using the top 2 3.0 ports but since using the 2.0 its fine. Any thought for concern? I've had my doubts on this board several times since getting it but the bios updates helped with a few issues.

The mouse is MMO R.A.T 7

My system seems to have developed a boot problem. Sometimes I get a blank screen with a flashing cursor after the ASUS logo, sometimes I get the Windows 8 logo sitting there on its own, and sometimes the system will boot normally.

It may have developed after I installed BIOS 1004. I'm not eager to install BIOS 1103 as putting all the settings back in is a real pain as the saved profiles fail to reload from USB between BIOS version, but if anyone had a similar issue and can say it was fixed then I'll bite.

Well I have joined the Club ... Asus X99 Deluxe with a 5820 and Noctua NH-D15 Dual Radiator

Looking forward to some tips as new to this .. not upgraded for years .. come from a old Q6600 .. so its been a super upgrade cant wait to have my pc doing work not sat there thinking about it

Glad to hear the combo is good. Is there sufficient ram clearance with that cooler on the deluxe and also not blocking any pcie slots?

Thanks

Getting stuck on windows loader is normally cache instability

Hows it coming along? we all want to see more details ya know lol

Andy, sorry for late response, I've been stuck working abroad and not been home much recently. Everything is on back burner and I'm doing a house renovation when I am home also, so its all bit hectic. Maybe in Jan I will have some time.

Hi
Well I only have some low profile ram .. the fan is sat on it .. so if you have ram with more heat sink it will push the fan up but all depends on the case you have

PCI slots are ok .. but there is not much room at all .. from the card to the cooler must be about 4mm .. its close but no problems

Cooler is working well .. need to work on the setting but very happy so far ...
