A bit more info on Liverpool's new kit deal. As I mentioned earlier in the thread, our new deal with Warrior is only for the rights to our kits and training gear; meaning we wouldn't just be earning an extra £13m per year but that we'd also get a bit more on top of that for the sale of non-football merchandise. I was expecting the value of the non-football merchandise to be worth a fraction of that of the football merchandise however, according to Ian Ayre, they're split roughly 50-50. If true, we could be looking at a jump from £12m per year to a total of £50m per year

i miss an on form arteta. when he's off form though, you may as well play a youth team player. he's crap.

Arteta was such a good buy for Arsenal, so much for the "OMGZ PANIC BUY" we heard from people!

I thought he was a decent buy for us, it was the other crap signings we made that made me lol at Wengers inability to buy some decent defenders.

Hes no Fabregas or Nasri thats for certain.

his better then nasri. Nasri is pants this season. could have become a legend at arsenal but instead chased ££££.

"OMGZ PANIC BUY" would be over the top but it was hardly a great, thoughtout signing. He's a decent player but not close to the level of player he was being signed to replace and he'll soon be 30. As I said in the summer, Wenger should have signed Arteta (or similar) as a 26/27 year old to supplement Fabregas, not to replace Fabregas with him as he's approaching the end of his career.

name me one player in the PL thats as good as fabregas? none mate.

its like saying, Pepe should sign someone who can replace messi.

Fabregas is easily the best midfielder in the world bar xavi and iniesta. they are the 3 best midfielders in this world. You wont see another fabregas pop up so easily

Carrick is way better than Fabregas.

A piece from Didi Hamann's book on a conversation he had with Sven-Goran Eriksson:
Recalling a pre-season trip to Thailand, Hamann writes: "One morning when I was on a sun lounger by the pool, he walked towards me with a bottle of champagne and two glasses on it. It was still only 10 in the morning. I looked up and said, ‘Boss, what are we celebrating?’ expecting him to make the triumphant announcement he was staying.

"He turned to me and smiled that gentle smile of his and took the air of a Buddhist philosopher, as he said, ‘Life, Kaiser. We are celebrating life’. With a glass of champagne in hand he stood and looked out towards the horizon, then spoke in that higgledy-piggledy Swedish accent: ‘You know Kaiser, I like this place. I think I will manage for another five years and come back here and live with two women. Yes. I think I need two beautiful women.’

What a guy Sven was :D
