Yeah, couldn't happen to a better chap even if I think it is disproportionate, but the FA are inconsistent by nature so it was either going to be 0 games or something like 12

It doesn't defend what he's done and 12 matches seems more than fair to me but tbh compared to penalties dished out in the past by the FA he's got a claim of being hard done by!

8 Match ban

Pushing the ref over (after a red card) 11 match ban!

They've thrown the book at him because he's Joey Barton lets be honest, if it was not such a well known troublemaking player can't imagine it would have been 12 games.

Why? He's been charged with 3 separate counts of violent conduct. Had he received 3 separate red cards he'd have actually ended up with a 15 game ban. By grouping his offenses together he's ended up getting only 12 games.

They've just classed the elbow, kick and head butt as three separate red card offences though. A red card usually earns a 3 game ban with additional reds receiving an additional game ban so 4 + 5 + 6. He got off lightly.

i would do the same the guy is a disgrace almost cost his side relegation and he was the captain what kind of captain does that when your on the verge of relegation? the guy has lost his head lots of times in the past i think it's only fair they take his history into consideration.

The most annoying/depressing thing about Barton is he's got himself into the media spotlight by being such a horrible little ****.

Seen him being a guest on Soccer AM and I believe there was a documentary about him. He's found this attention that he craves by behaving in such an unacceptable way. Not through any footballing ability.

He’s a waste of space.

yes, name calling is 66% as bad as 3 assaults, ridiculous

It's not 'just' name calling though is it? It's racism. Way to downplay it.

Edit; should also say that 'attempting to start a fight' is a down playing that too, he knee'd Aguero (:3 he's my man crush, Aguero, not Barton.) and basically went a little bit postal.

.

and no different to calling someone bald, short, big ears etc etc it's not right but when it isn't inciting hatred then it's just name calling, nothing more
