Michu out for the rest of the season with a hamstring. That leaves us with as much attacking flair as a cup of cold tea :/

Continuing the Joey Barton theme

JOEY BARTON says he has both the brains and balls to become a manager when he hangs up his boots.

The QPR midfielder, 30, is currently on loan with Ligue 1 side Marseille. But yesterday bad boy Barton took to Twitter to announce his future plans.
He tweeted: “To be a top manager you need brains and balls. I have both in abundance.
“Football is a simple game complicated by fools and people stealing livings.
“Yes, for those of you asking I will almost certainly manage when I stop playing. Reckon I’ve got about 8/9 years left at the top!”

Next Utd manager?

Challenge to UEFA FFP launched:

“Today, 6 May 2013, Mr Daniel Striani, player agent (registered with the Belgian Football Association), represented by lawyer Jean-Louis Dupont, lodged a complaint with the European Commission against UEFA in order to challenge infringements to fundamental principles of EU law caused by some provisions of the UEFA “Financial Fair Play” regulation (FFP).

Specifically, this complaint challenges the restrictions of competition caused by the “Break-even rule” (article 57 of the UEFA FFP regulation).

The rule imposes on clubs that participate in the UEFA Champions League or in the Europa League the obligation “not to overspend” (the expenses of a club cannot exceed income). In effect, a club owner is prohibited from “overspending” even if such overspending aims at growing the club.

The “Break-even” rule (which, according to article 101 of the Treaty on the functioning of the EU, is an “agreement between undertakings”) generates the following restrictions of competition:

- Restriction of investments;
- Fossilization of the existing market structure (i.e. the current top clubs are likely to maintain their leadership, and even to increase it);
- Reduction of the number of transfers, of the transfer amounts and of the number of players under contracts per club;
- Deflatory effect on the level of players’ salaries; and
- Consequently, a deflatory effect on the revenues of players’ agents (depending on the level of transfer amounts and/or of players salaries).

It had to happen at some point in time. The lawyer, Jean-Louis Dupont, was part of the Bosman Ruling legal team.

I can see the point but as you said it prevents any smaller club investing to achieve success. The big clubs will still be able to outbid any smaller club and pay more wages. This will severely limit any club from the 'speculate to accumulate' plan and prevent the owner of a newly promoted club from investing heavily to make a push to a European place or even staying up.

If this were in place at the start of the premiership then there was no way that Blackburn would have been able to win the league the way they did.

What they need to promote is the equal sharing of TV money throughout every top division in UEFA, the way the Premier League does. La Liga is hugely biased towards Barca and Real who get way more than any other team from TV contracts. This only reinforces their financial position and makes any other teams having any effect on the title a very remote possibility.

LOL QPR a club that just keeps on giving:p. Half their players dont even seem bothered about staying up and didnt put much effort in during the season and then the icing on the cake was them laughing when they realised they were down a week ago.

Gonna be interesting to see how QPR manage next season and whether these players ie M'Bia, Bosingwa, Cesar and a few others will cope with championship football next season. Wouldnt mind seeing Cesar at Arsenal as long as his wage demands arent stupidly high and we can get him cheap plus he will give both Chessers and Fabianski a good run for their money.

Sir Chesney said:
If we win our next two games it will be enough as either Chelsea or Spurs will drop points as they play each other

Guess Maths wasn't his strong suit at school, Arsenal could win all their remaining games 10-0 and still not qualify for the CL if Spurs and Chelsea win all theirs (with Spurs beating Chelsea of course).

I've always wondered; how are teams actually supposed to combat racism from it's fans? Have posters saying racism is bad and run background checks on every fan entering the ground? You can ban the guilty for life if found guilty but there is no way they can stop it completely. Makes the proposal to have points deducted and elimination from competitions for teams with racist fans ludicrous in my eyes.
