i would find it so funny if mourinho was the next united manager,he did look very comfortable at old Trafford during the champions league game.I just hope this doesn't back fire and we get benitez :O lol

mourinho will be chelsea manager again (if all the rumours are to be believed) after this season and (imo) that would rule him out of ever managing united.

reading the telegraph yesterday, there was a small piece on how ferguson would miss the opening few games of next season as he is having a hip replacement. he has pretty much always said he would only retire on health grounds so maybe the pre-op tests revealed something for concern. couple that with another title won and it would make sense that he puts a retirement plan and successor into place.

For those making the point, yes, Utd's US listing does indeed mean they're obliged to inform the NYSE first of any news like this. But..

..still unusual for there to be no discreet guidance or response from club officials, & there's been none all evening

Couple of morning papers running with Sir Alex Ferguson to announce retirement THIS WEEK speculation. Club quiet. What do people think?

Gary Lineker ‏@GaryLineker
Front page of tomorrow's Telegraph suggests SAF is about to call it a day. Club remain silent. Hmmmm...

Or maybe Man U actually like the Telegraph unlike Newcastle, so they're letting them have a bit of story before crushing it after the PR people have had a good sleep? :D

It's hardly like it's slow news time and they need to make up stories to sell papers, I doubt it's true, but seems a strange time for it to come out.

The pace is just a combination of twitter and in turn people wasting money betting, same thing happens with transfers. Wasn't Falcao odds on to United... Or is it Chelsea.

Either way, keep Moyes away from United. I admire his staying at Everton and doing so much with so little, but at the same time it makes me wonder why he hasn't sought a better challenge and looked elsewhere to show what he can do. I don't want someone 'comfortable'.

At the same time I would not want Mourinho. All he does is alienate, and his 'charisma' has worn off long ago. Everywhere he's been since Porto he's pushed specific players to the sidelines, ignoring them just to prove a point. People don't like Fergie, but many people respect him, Mourinho acts like a child and doesn't command respect in a way that I would want at our club.

Personally I would rather we went with a young, 'fresh' manager who is forward thinking and open to learning. We have the players and money for a season or two without trophies to be exceptable to me (I think we'll be trophyless for a season anyway when Fergie does go). It's an 'on the band wagon' type choice, but a manager like Klopp who plays exciting football, gets the best out of his players and has been successful, all at a club that has a huge, demanding fan base and expectant directors, would quickly gain the respect of our players. A younger manager would probably also be more comfortable with Fergie being upstairs.

I just can't see Mourinho respecting many of our current players and I can't see them respecting him.

Rooney to Bayern at the end of this season, according to a journo on talksport. Said that one of his team mates had told them this. Normally if you hear it on TS, you can just deny it, but apparently it is going on the back page tomorrow. MU will be having some big changes if all the news is to be believed.

:D

Hearing there could be a Utd statement as early as 10am tomorrow. Club officials on standby

Dun dun dunnnnn.

Bit of information re:Moyes. He spent several hours in meetings today poring over Everton transfer targets for next season.

Oliver Holt ‏@OllieHolt22
Would he be doing that if he was about to head to United? Maybe.

Moyes or no Moyes... I'm not looking forward to next season! Unless Mourinho takes charge and we get taken over buy some £b'aire.

Whether its now or next summer or the summer after that this day will come eventually, hopefully if tonight turns out to be BS certain people will think twice about the hyperbole they come out with about the great man from now on (I doubt it but one can hope)

He is going to be gone one day. It is going to be interesting to see how they go onwards from when he does. Being a Liverpool supporter, him going is good news, hopefully we can start catching back up on the league title game :o

if this rumour is true, Mourinho is going to Man U surely...he's going to stay there for a few years then go back to Chelsea.Guardiola will take over from Mourinho after they've battled out a Man U v Bayern saga again for a few years. That would be class!
