The Battlefield 4 Thread 2015

I get confused with Vsync because I never know if I need it on or off. With it off in some games they just don't feel as smooth even though I'm getting 80+ FPS. Should I use Mantle and should I run the game in 64bit mode?

Vsync gets rid of tearing which annoys a lot of people, but input lag is the real killer in FPS games. Given 2 people of equal skill do you really want a 0.1 sec disadvantage in every one on one? ;)

I can maintain a constant 90+ FPS (usually around 115-120) with my rig in sig when everything is on low/off except mesh, it is set to ultra and res scale set to 150%, this is with mantle, with DX, my FPS constantly drop to as low as 40, simply unplayable.

I found that limiting the FPS to 59 AND turning vsync on had very little if any input lag, well at least not noticeable to me and my play style when doing inf. play

Lately though, I have capped the FPS to 125 and turned vsync of, game feels a bit snappier/more responsive but not as "smooth" and I have put texture quality, terrain quality and texture filtering to high and turned the res. scale to 100% just for a change and to enjoy some eye candy before GTA 5 arrives :p

Although ever since the last patch, I am now getting slight stuttering/hitching every now and then :(

Ive set an fps limit of 90 in user.cfg, vsync is off, ultra preset with x4 msaa, (which i might lower/turn off). Find this a nice compromise and my top card doesnt try to barbecue the rest of my system. If i can get a side fan butchered into the case window, im hoping it will help with card cooling so i can let them loose.

Ive searched Google and theres a few that say they get the problem but no definite answer so thought ide ask on here see if anyone else gets the problem and found a fix

Quick FRAPS benchmark just now, using DSR (2560x1600), ultra preset and x4 msaa netted the following.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
55047, 503930, 57, 175, 109.235

Pretty laggy so minimums will have taken a hit, also loosing or dropping msaa would improve them. Map was 64 player cq large on paracel. One of the most demanding in the game.

Need to sort out that aging screen setting :D

Yep, sooner rather than later mate. The monitor on my second rig is on it's last legs. The benq will go to it and hopefully with work picking up ill be able to get a new monitor for the setup in sig. 2560 something with gsync, as 1080p is pointless for me now.

Anyway of fixing cpu spikes? Got a i5 4690K and every so often it spikes and just lags like hell

I GOT EXACTLY THIS PROBLEM with EXACT same CPU!!!"££!"!"££"!!£" since I upgrades from i5 2500 i am gettin cpu spikes every no and then my fps drops from 150+ to 10 for like 10 seconds...and then nothing could not get to the bottom of this...

I have try fresh install,
bios upgrade
disabling all the bits of origin ingame...
no fix so far...

Felt like playing this tonight, I hadn't played BF4 for several months and it was obvious that I'm pretty rusty :D

The game feels pretty good overall though to be honest, seems like they really improved the performance and net-code since I last played it. It really is refreshing playing a game that actually works well after coming from months of playing PlanetSide 2 (which has been utterly atrocious since December)...

Yeah I cant figure it out either setting bf4 to low priority helps abit, but its definitely just bf4 I played dying light, arma 3, hitman and tomb raider last night to test it out and non went over 50% so God knows
