Yep, good old Uncle Pete is now the owner of my X79 rig.

New rig is
5960X
16GB 3200Mhz DDR4
'4x290X' 8GB cards
This is just a stop gap till the next 'beast' gpu from AMD appears, whenever that is.

Ahh, very nice. Hope it works out well for you. Tempted by X99 myself as I'm a bit bored with vanilla haswell now.
Wouldn't bother with X79/X99 unless you use 3 gpu's or you're a bencher to be honest setts. Aside from Firestrike I'm noticing no gains over my X79 setup with tightly tuned memory. Infact, i may even be scoring less as my 3970X did 4.9-4.95ghz when pushed to the limit. Time will tell, I'm still getting to grips with this 5960X. It's a stinker though, that's for sure.![]()

Used this to create a shortcut: http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/40339-cpu-affinity-shortcut-program-create-windows.html
Open game, alt+tab out, run shortcut, open game again.
Set affinity to all 8 threads with hex code FF.
Can easy set up a file for you if you want, just give me the location of your BF4 install![]()
Yes this thread was originally setup to test fps on different cpu/gpu combos. Unfortunately bf4 doesnt have an inbuilt benchmark. But there is a thread in the pc game section of the forum, but it deals more with server choice, discussion of games played etc. As bf4 is still a pretty demanding game both cpu/gpu usage, its a good judge of performance for a system. Sure the raw benchmark figures are scattered throughout this thread, but it's a good place to find tips/advice for what is still a very popular game. Information that would be lost in the pc game bf4 thread. And the moderators on here are willing to allow this thread as long as it maintains good civilised discussion.I thought it was a battlefield.thread
Lots of spikes above 20ms and very high 60ms am sure these would have been felt as stutter.
I would stick with the 290 as Mantle works beautifully with that CPU in supported games, i have one.

Nice flat performance graph Matt, though as im getting on a bit and the ol eyesight is poor, im struggling to read the fps counter.Game does look very nice at 4k though. Also gotta give dice credit where its due, connection issues here aside its running so much better since the last two patches. Havent benched any of the latest maps as im too busy enjoying them when playing.

If I was to use the in game render resolution and i play at 1080p what % would be 1440p? 200% is 4k true?
