***THE BF4 BENCHMARKS THREAD***

not as bad as expected on my 570 -most settings at Ultra (no AA though) - only 4 at "high"

It ran "OK" for me on Win 7 and an i7 (with a 780) but it is immediately noticeable that it's better on Win 8.

Not going to recommend everyone who plays this to get Win 8 but it is interesting that the experiences were quite so different between the two OS.

You have an i7 though. Its i5 Windows 7 users that are getting the short end of the stick.

Spot on. I have been asking in games where possible what systems are people using and the biggest feedback with issues is, Windows 7 and 2500K.

I wouldn't say that was entirely true. My setup runs is like a dream. There are the occasional issues where the CPU maxes out at 100%, but after a while it settles down. I'd put that down to the fact it's a beta.

It depends on your own definition of 'maxxed out', for some people that means Ultra 3840x1080@60fps with default FOV, for others (specifically ex-quakeworld players like me) it means Ultra (or custom settings) 1920x1080@144fps with maximum FOV and sub-5ms draw rate.

The people that have been reading this thread know what 'my maxed' definition is.. I've said it enough times but i know what u mean :)

So the 'best' upgrade would be to upgrade the i5 if this is how PC gaming is going to be like in the future.

I will just put this here incase some dont see it on the pcgames section.

I made a user.cfg file copied most of it but tweaked it a little to test somit. (the config.cfg as mentioned in OP doesnt work btw if u put in doc/bf4 folder it needs to be in your origin/bf4 folder where the exe is and named user.cfg.)

Helped a lot with fps drops/stutter. 30fps might be it i dunno but 30fps seems perfectly playable to 60 with this so :/ Dunno if the dx9 enable thing works i just gave it a go.

Edit 60fps works too i just checked. Barely any stuttering now with this new cfg file im using compared to when i didnt use one or have it in the wrong place (op).

Heres my bench. 32 man server domination i think it was.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
11367, 197513, 15, 61, 57.551

300secs i set it to ish. Even tho min is 15 it never felt a hard drop or stutter like it used to. So no new drivers needed, or win 8 or a i7.

If it helps good if not nvm, it did for me at least with a i5 and win 7.

This Beta is a complete stutterfest for me. i7 3770k @4.5Ghz, GTX780 @1100/ 7ghz. Frame rates on ultra 60+FPS (100% scaling factor) @ 1080P 120hz. Feels like 20 FPS or so. Have the 331.** Nvidia drivers installed.

AMD/EA sabatarge I tell you! :/

200% scaling factor sends Vram usage to 2800MB+ never thought I'd see that @1080p

Edit: Using windows 7.....

With Win 7, GTX 680 SLI at 2560x1440 I also had horrible stuttering and performance, even though the FPS counter showed a reasonable average.

This was with the latest beta Nvidia drivers. Downgraded to 320.18 and I can actually play now - frequent stutters have been eliminated. Do yourself a favour and keep scaling at 100%, then try the older drivers.

Been playing the game the past 2 days fine except for the obvious faults. But today the game has just froze twice. Have to ctrl alt delete to unfreeze it then it just says the program has stopped working/responding. Pretty annoying never happened before.

Heres my minmaxavg from start of a full server round up to just as the building is about to come down.. thats about 17 minutes.

Frames, Time (ms), Min, Max, Avg
61316, 1021220, 41, 133, 60.042

My avg is 53fps after the building is down.

And thats maxed custom ultra 4xMSAA 1080p on my system using the overclocks in my sig.

Anyone think they will give us a second map with this Beta like they did with BF3 Beta? I bloody well hope so as this is starting to get boring now :)

I'd be supprised if the release version just works nicely TBH.

can't see that it will, beta wise talk of not all the destruction being in there, no commander mode etc so when it comes out it will need a patch off the bat, but that's normal for the last few battlefields from what i remember.

morning folks, trying to have a go at the beta this morning and keep getting this, anyone else/ideas?

If you're using MSI AB to overclock and overvolt you will get this error because the video driver is crashing, the game wont push your cards voltages in to 3d volts but the clocks still do and it results in a crash.

Try to use Trixx to over volt.

Where does this come from? who said so? I'm having absolutely no issues with Windows 7 and my I5. Solid 60fps vsyncd at 99% of the time, Ultra settings but 2xMSAA...I've experienced stutter less than a handful times in maybe 20 or so games. Performance is actually pretty damn nice for me, I'm actually starting to wonder why I even bought my 2nd 7950 lmao

That's where the majority, but clearly not all, of the problems seem to stem from. Though i agree the wider issue is most likely the game itself.

its nooblets just guessing. the game has a issue with stuttering and anyone actually reading dice has responded saying they have nearly solved it.

in single card configurations i5s are getting same fps sometimes more than i7s lol. once they have fixed the issue let them eat humble pie.

do your own benchmarking match to benchmarks done then see if similar. you know what to trust. whats irritating me is people will upgrade because of the bs information when they dont have to and its not a couple of quid either.

win8 does offer better performance than win7 currently in bf4. from what i tried its upto 10 fps better. this could be cause it was optimized more for the beta and win7 maybe this will be tweaked. i wouldn't judge performance or think of upgrading anything until release of the actual game.

from my experience playing it,
I5 is only just enough at 60fps, for people that like their high refresh rate monitors its not going to cut it, unless game performance increases by double..

im happy playing like a noob on my big screen tho :p all in the LAV of love^^

Yes an i5 seems to be fine up until you have a card or cards that can push more than a minimum of mid 50's in my experience.

The game runs beautifully but my gpu usage is only averaging about 75% on both my 670's. When the framerate drops to ~60fps my gpu usage drops to about 60%....

I am pretty sure that with an i7 and my 670's both being used at 100% my minimums would be more like 75/80fps and my average would be nearer 100

While this information is helpful to those who want to see performance changes immediately, benching on a beta is not a great way of doing it. Work with what you have and re-asses once the final version has been released. That way you can potentially avoid the need for splashing out shed loads of money for no reason.
