The Big WWE Wrestling Thread

I'm going to have nightmares if you keep on about it :P

This weeks RAW has been the best in quite a while. The Orton/Vince angle was brilliant and i can see something HUGE comming out of this if the WWE writers get there asses into gear. We don't have another RAW before the RR so hopefully Orton can win this and when Steph wants to fire him for kicking her dad and the owner of the WWE he can claim that you can't fire the winner of the RR or something along those lines.

Can't wait for the Royal Rumble and next weeks RAW, they are going to be epic.

As I said earlier in the thread Roid I suspect the punishment will be in the form of having his number handpicked by Steph....i.e Number 1....or he will have to win it to keep his job....something will develop at the Rumble!

Must have missed that post, my bad. Thinking about it that does sound like a good idea. There are so many ways of going along with this storyline. I just hope it comes off as Orton has the talent to pull it off lets just hope the writers get it right ey!

I don't think a date has been arranged for his return (unless i have missed him also :D), think its just the near future on Smackdown. He has a new theme also so watch out for it :)

WOW an RVD return would have me mark out big style :p

Alas despite the rumours that he's backstage I cant see him making a return :(

Doubt Christian will return just yet either, think they'll string out this angle with Hardy a good number of weeks yet

January 25, 2009

Tonight's Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View is just hours away and as of this writing only 23 wrestlers have been confirmed for the big 30 man battle royal match.

Last year's Rumble featured the surprise return of John Cena and WWE has at least one surprise entrant planned for the Rumble.

I can now 100% CONFIRM that former WWE and ECW champion Rob Van Dam is backstage in Detroit, Michigan and will be part of tonight's Royal Rumble. RVD is originally from nearby Battle Creek, Michigan and is sure to get a huge reaction from his hometown crowd.

This will be RVD's second surprise WWE return, as we last saw him at the RAW 15th anniversary special, defeating Santino Marella in an unannounced match.

Was pretty average - the matches were more about the twists than the wrestling. For example, the WHC match was just watching JBL and JC fumble around the ring until HBK made his move. Same with the WWE title match until Vickie and Matt joined.

Interesting twists and turns though. Not sure what they're trying to do with the Hardys but turning Matt heel will be very unpopular and will wipe a huge amount of value off any Hardys merchandise they have. I hope they've thought it through. It does have potential though.

The RR match was far too predictable, as soon as the 30th member was announced it was only ever going to be Orton winning it (I was hoping HBK would sneak in, at least then it would have become unpredictable).

Oh, and Jack Swagger just looks like a big tree?

thanks to not reading any spoilers on here, the matt hardy turn was quite a suprise and as soon as the 30th entrant was out it was obvious who would win it. shame undertaker went out of it in a crappy way though.

overall it was an ok ppv, it would have been good to have christian return.

Personally I thought it was a really good event, solid under card which was surprising because I really thought the ECW title match was going to be pap. Both World Title matches were good as well, Cena/JBL was 10 times better than any of their matches last year and Edge/Jeff Hardy despite the rubbish ending is an early contender for match of the year IMO

Glad the Rumble match sprang a surprise about time their was an unexpected winner

Gets a 9/10 for me that event

Oh and I did indeed mark out as I said I would :p

shame undertaker went out of it in a crappy way though.

Yeah, didn't realise that someone already eliminated is allowed to still eliminate someone else. Bit crappy that, what's to stop people uninvolved in the event coming in and trashing it?

No Way Out already sounds good, much better having both titles defended in the Elimination Chamber rather than last years spot at Mania being on the prize
