The Big WWE Wrestling Thread

Just finished watching it on TV and thought it was amazing. The only nitpick would be a few too many multi-team matches as Bossman says, but I guess you need to have them to get people on the card.

Hopefully going next year!

Sure Khan didn’t want to have to do it but he was left with no choice really, can’t have a guy keep going around in the back getting in fights with other talent!

He’s burnt his bridges with both of the top companies in the US now so I’d presume that’s the last you’ll see of Punk in the ring.

Now wait for the shoot interviews with him! Not with Colt Cabana this time though cos he’s burnt those bridges as well

Never seen anything special about Punk, he’s great on the mic but his in ring work has just always been pretty lame. Obviously that’s just my opinion and I appreciate others see him as one of the best, but I just can’t see it

Totally agree and since his return his in-ring hasnt been great atall. I did enjoy the match with Joe at All In tho. Still at least i can say i was there for Punks last ever match

meh, all i see on the mic is him whining and whingeing. Loads of others at AEW, like Eddie K and Mox, are far better cutting promos, and MJF on the mic eats him alive.

Is this accurate though? I thought he was provoked by Jack Perry with the story being Perry wanted to use real glass in a spot in a match and it was nixed by numerous people including Punk?

If anything I'd imagine Punk was quite happy to be let go. He's clearly not been at his best and there's deeper unresolved problems stemming from what happened last year. AEW has let themselves down on numerous levels in here my opinion. The handling of the situation has been dreadful. They could have drawn serious money with Punk and FTR vs. Bucks and Omega if they wanted to. The only people that lose are the fans as a result here.

Surprised that no one has mentioned the releases. Dolph Ziggler will do great in AEW i could even see him being part of The Elite. But the shocking one is Riddle, it does appear though that he has had too many chances and been warned constantly about his partaking of the herb/wellness violations and also looks like there are conflicting reports regarding the incident at JFK airport. I think Mustafa Ali would do great to go to TNA, i do think he would get lost in all the ex WWE/mid carders in AEW but he would have a decent chance to be at least X-Division Champ in TNA as that suits his style to a tee.

I wonder if Ali might be a pick up for AEW on the basis of his big support in Chicago. He's obviously nowhere near Punk in that regard, but would help a bit, with Chicago being a particular big market for AEW.

Also possible they'll pick up Mansoor and Mace: both of those guys got some buzz on Twitter with some of their promo stuff after being released. Mansoor in particular is fairly young. No idea if either of them can wrestle very well, never seen anything from them.

Yeah saw that this morning, not surprised but a little gutted. I get he's "old" now, so WWE aren't going to give him the money or contract he probably wants, but still feel they should have made an effort to keep him, absolute class act and still got a lot to give.

I never realised how much I appreciated Edge until he retired, and I really enjoyed his run since his return despite a few odd decisions from creative (cutting his judgement day run way too short being one). I desperately wanted him to have the new belt before he left WWE

Yeah i know what you mean but i think he said in an interview that he was just happy to be wrestling again and putting over the new generation of talent rather than holding belts. Fair play to the guy knowing his priorities in the business.

I am however though surprised that a) He has appeared so quickly (Guess he did not have a 90 day no compete clause) and b) He is using his same entrance music so i guess either he owns the rights to it or the WWE had given him go ahead to use (As well as the Rated R Superstar title) as its his "swan song" before retiring for good.

I'm enjoying this current wrestling timeline. I watch everything AEW while keeping an eye on WWE. The recent return made me chuckle.

This promo from Moxley still makes me belly laugh:

“You should take the time to really enjoy CM Punk while he’s here. Because he’s not gonna be here much longer. Fragile mind. Fragile ego. Fragile body.”

In late December I got the WWE network and I challenged myself to watch every Raw, Smackdown, and PPV from Dec 99 to Dec 2001. It’s going well…currently watching Backlash 2000. I’ve both forgotten and remembered so much from these classic times. Loving it.
