^ Just arrived! Some of you recommended the Poorboy's dressing and I just had a smell of it, my car is now going to smell of bubblegum! (smells delicious).

Now to get cleaning y0 \m/

Could you show the before and after, my trims need feeding, badly, but the cheapo Halfrauds PoS trim cleaner and conditioner I bought does bugger all ( well, except that when you spill it on your metal, it's very hard to wash off, leaves some kind of fatty residue :(, yeah blah blah should have bought a quality product, the Halfords alloy/wheel cleaner does a superb job though).

EDIT: oh, does your car have black trims on the exterior somewhere ?

I've not washed the exterior and likely won't do until the weekend now due to time constraints so have only touched the interior and minor exterior (tyres/wing mirror trim etc) and I didn't see your post until after so no before but to give you an idea here are some quick after pics:

Finish Kare tire dressing:

(the more you work it into the tyre wall the better the finish, oh and excuse the alloy scuff!)

Poorboy's trim dressing:

(the top bit is vinyl/rubber or whatever it's called and the lower bit is leather, the PB gives it a deeper finish which is great!)

The more coats you use of Poorboy's the deeper the finish gets, I don't like things being too glossy so just used 2 coats then buffed off to leave a matte finish.

did I mention the bubblegum scent? :D

How long do you guys usually give yourself to Wash, Clay, Polish and Wax your cars?

I'm trying to work out if I can do it in an evening after work or if I should wait until Saturday when I have the whole day

Wait til Saturday, a good wash/wax and polish takes the best part of the entire day TBH but you don't need to polish and wax every week of course. Just a wash and detail each week with polish/wax every few months if you're using good products like SRP and 476s to seal it all up.

If I'm not machine polishing, it usually takes me about 3 hours per section to wash/clay/polish/seal/wax (front/left side/right side/back+roof being the sections), allowing 10 mins or so for curing inbetween

3 hours per section!?

Oh my!!

Saturday it is then!

I was hoping to have the whole thing done in about 4-5 hours, clearly not!

Considering how ugly the rear of a 1 series is I'd have to take 15 minute breaks when polishing so factor that in too Steedie :D

Haha shut it!

I actually like the rear of the car now. I still hate the rear of the M Sport 1ers with their cornflake box insert at the back. But no, i quite like mine so shhh! :D

Could someone please recommend a good leather cleaner and protector for our Passat Estate please? My 2 year old is making a mess of the back seats :(

I'd also be grateful for any advice as to how best to actually clean the seats, removing dried on drink stains etc.

after I had spent 8hrs+ claying, swirl removing, sealing and waxing the aero, (looked great) parked it up at the other half's parents when we went on holiday,

It was a bit dusty ( all it needed wash a light rinse ) so her mum decided to give it a wash,,,,,

with washing up liquid and a J cloth......

in the sunshine.

one is not pleased.

By hand or with a machine?

I'd love to see pictures!

was all by hand, was super smooth and a lush deep black. It "was" great.

now its super super swirly, from all the fine grit rubbed in with the J cloth, and all the wax stripped off.

Didn't get any pics, and had just put on the vinyl letters too
