Is it appropriate to use after claying?

It will work but it's not especially durable. I would recommend either a proper wax or sealant, and then use the BSD as a "top up" LSP after subsequent washes.

Autoglym SRP (polish) + EGP (sealant) performs well, looks good and is readily available.

I've just got some Autoglym SRP and Collonite 476s wax to try out. What is the benefit of using a wax vs a sealant or vice versa?

It's a lot down to personal preference, but a sealant is a synthetic product where a wax is a natural product. Sealants tend to last longer than waxes, but some people prefer the look that a wax gives. For the best of both worlds you can use both, but apply the sealant first and the wax over the top of the sealant, not the other way around.

Recently started using the cheap £1 matte dashboard spray on my tyre walls and it's been great. Get the stuff with UV protection and all is well.

No more dedicated tyre gel products needed. The above was applied 2 days ago and I've driven in rain since. I did wipe the wall down with a shoe brush post application to remove any gloss and spread the product around.

I know that you probably know and i'm probably being to cautious but watch what you put near those wheels. next door neighbour has the same wheels on his m3 and the lacquer has been destroyed by something and for the life of both of us we don't know what.

Probably some acid based wheel cleaner.

Just had a read of this guide, seems pretty good to me - http://www.detailedimage.com/Auto-Detailing-Guide. It mentions that claying and polishing should only be done once or twice per year but that wax needs to be topped up every 3-8 weeks. When topping up the wax would I be right in thinking that the steps would be as follows:

pre-wash->rinse->two-bucket wash->rinse->wax (i.e. cutting out the claying and polishing as presumably they would remove the previous wax coat)?

Yes, though if you top up the wax with something like Sonax BSD each time you wash you can probably stretch it longer than 8 weeks, probably 3-6 months, depending upon the use your car sees

as the junkman has said, in an ideal world if you have your washing technique nailed down then you should only have to polish once. then seal then keep up the wax.

EGP is great and the longer you leave it on the paint before buffing off the longer it lasts. I use HDWax instead these days though. Both great products. Planning to use SRP and hdwax this afternoon, although will not be claying as the paint is still very smooth...will see if it still is when the wax comes off. Car needs to be clean for its performance upgrades tomorrow :)

Is it too hot to wash? (24c) Think I may have to wear a cap the heat is getting to my head :p

Well didn't go too well unfortunately, found a few tar spots that I couldn't remove what's the best remedy for this?

Hopefully have a better day tomorrow cleaning the interior.
