diy clay bar lubricant?

what are the constituents of clay bar lubricant - i want to make my own up in a spare spray bottle :)

will be purchasing a 100g clay bar separatly off the bay.

Also - has anyone tries the large microfibre hand towels in the bathroom section at pound shop - they are very good for the money and seem superior to the ones on sale in their car section - i'm amazed at some of the prices for microfibre towels in helfrauds!

because their work is absolutely outstanding with people coming from all over the country to use them and having a solid booked calendar months in advance, they are Zymol trained among other things, they get fantastic products in that nobody else can get their hands on, they have outstanding knowledge of products and techniques and their customer service is unparalleled.

love how you completely ignore my point about hot pressure washers

this just re-inforces my oppinion that DetailingWorld is more of a religion if anything.

Should see the reaction that advising to use WD40 as a degreaser got

What does the hot pressure washing have to do with anything other than my point about their work being fantastic? It barely even matters even with that point, the washing isn't where any skill is anyway, any monkey could do that. Their skill is with choosing the right products and their skills/techniques with their tools. It bares no relevance to my comments about my experiences as a customer of theres, so I didn't feel the need to make a pointless comment about it. I don't even speak to them on detailingworld, if I need advice I'll email them or take a drive up to their premises

they recommend what they find works

they will find purely hyperwash works because of the better cleaning power they get using hot water. What works for them may not work for you, so just because they say " we recommend hyperwash" doesnt mean thats all you should use.

Its also making a general point that the Polished Bliss fan club treat everything they say as gospel. Do people not form their own oppinions anymore ?

If someone can give you a helping hand when it comes to choosing products then it helps though.

You wouldnt buy or test drive a Yugo would you since its well known that they are terrible, just ignore them straight off.

Saves buying a load of duplicate products that basically do the same thing. Dont see the point in having 10 waxes on a shelf when you only use 1 or 2.

They used hyperwash as foam before they bought their heated pressure washer, so that's pretty irrelevant.

People listen to what they say because they are the best at what they do and have tried a million more products than the average person, more qualified than anyone else I know to offer advice and opinions.

These car cleaning products do add up so going on the advice from someone like PB could save you a lot of time on products that are maybe not so good as others.

also a big following PB has is testament to how good they are...but i don't think you should ever dismiss a product just because they don't sell it.

I went for the snow Foam as it seems to have a big following but I am sure the hyperwash would be as good.

tell me about it, I started buying stuff before Polished Bliss existed or I knew about DW, must have about £600 worth of stuff and about £200 of it isn't even used because it's been made obsolete by finding out about better products :(

ah how naive I was back in the day thinking Meguiars and Auto Glym were as good as it gets :D

I I have spent £200 to date and if you count the pressure washer £379 but we wanted that for the patio so we would have got one anyhow.

I remember when I would wash car with any old sponge then t-cut the whole thing and that was that thought I was done maybe some cheap polish that at the time I thought did the same as wax :D

how do people get "warm" pressure washers? I mean i could hook it to the hot tap but then it would be waaaaaaaayyyyyy too hot.

you can get big karchers with in built heaters. my old mans one is diesel powered,

that dial on the front sets the temp, upto 90*C, which was great when i left the oil filler cap off my engine and drove to work. the hot water cleared off the oil (from everything) really well.

i always felt that warm water to wash/rinse wasnt that smart as itll soften up the lacquer and make it easier to scratch..

was just thinking this morning did I need a Hd foam lance or could I have used my karcher K386 Integral detergent tank or would it not foam as well ??

thanks

I waited in all day for my stuff to arrive and nothing

I telephoned PB this morning and they tracked it for me while I was on the phone and the Business post website said that it was loaded on the van at 6am this morning for delivery to me today ???

While I was on the phone I asked a few questions and I have to say the guy was really helpful. Explained everything and said that I was lucky as Volvos have really hard paint and even with an really abrasive polish it wouldn't take much of the volvo's paint off but on the down side it will be bloody hard work because of this

anyhow lets hope it turns up tomorrow as I really want to get started this weekend...although rain all day Saturday I believe but good Sunday Monday and Tuesday!

Why do people post their "clean" cars, with really, really crap pictures? We can't tell whether its a good job or not, or maybe thats the idea?

;)

The built in tank is useless tbh.

Get the £15 foam lance add on from Halfords and a decent 'snow foam' such as Bilt Hamber Auto Foam, and use this as your pre wash.

'Thick' foam is a waste of time :)
