I wasn't impressed with ZCS on paintwork, but it works a treat on alloys.

Z8 is awesome, what is already on your car?

the Z-CS is for protection details, not for my own car. Just put it on my mums car yesterday came out looking really good. Just topped it off with Z8 to finish it off.

I've currently got werkstat acrylic triplets on my car, goin to top it with Z8 to see if it gives it some extra bling

Quick question for snow foam users...the bottle that comes with my HD foam lance holds a litre....so would 10-50 ml be correct for the amount of snow foam to add to this 10 being the weakest mix ?? what have you found to be the best mix??

Thanks

Clayed my car yesterday for the first time ever I cant believe how satisfying it was. My paint is so smooth now :D
One question can I clay my alloys to get brake dust off??
I have had a bit of trouble with the Quick detail spray, as some of it got on the windows and has left a film that is really hard to get off:mad: Just when you think you have it all off then the light changes and big smears..any ideas on how to get this off?

Then to top it off I have noticed I have a few scratches on my windows:confused: Really dont now how I did this it must have been one big bit of grit or something???? driving me mad now!

has anyone had these and had success in removal of them ? I spoke to PB and they said it would be almost impossible to remove by hand.

But on the upside the bodywork looks really good and I doubt anyone else would notice the scratches on the windows. Going to spend all day Sunday giving it a polish and wax

Regards

1) Yes you can clay wheels. In fact sometimes its the only way to get them clean, short of using brick acid

2) Use fairy liquid to clean the windows. It'll remove anything. Obviously best advice is to not get it on the windows in the first place. But fairly liquid is great for stripping protection in one hit. Which is effevtively whats happend, quick detail has a shot term wax effect. Zaino Z8 and Autoglymn Aqua Wax work on similar principles

3) you can polish out scratches out of glass. Remember the bloke who cleaned his window with a scouring pad ? theres a link in that thread somwhere to somebody on DW who machined his glass. But it required a machine polisher and almost scary levels of pressure as well as the machine levels to get correction. Glass doesnt break down easily like clearcoat does.

Thanks for that thought you could clay them just wanted to check first :)
Off to clean my windows with fairy liquid now ;) then clay my wheels...my neighbours are already commenting I must have OCD I spend so much time on my car!

Coming up to 130k on my car, and since I have two days off I was going to clean it properly. Looking for some advise though, currently im just using autoglym body shampoo and super resin polish for afterwards... and thats pretty much it.

So spec me some cleaning stuff less than £40 that I can treat my car to.

I'd prob go for something like this, spec'd at cleanyourcar.co.uk, presuming you don't already have a wash mitt and drying towel. If you do then I can spec something more interesting :D

Sonus Sheepskin Wash Mitt VK-103 £6.91 £6.91
Huge 38" x 28" Microfibre Drying Towel HUGD1 £8.65 £8.65
Meguiars Quik Clay kit G1116 £10.39 £10.39
Poorboys Nattys Paste Wax Blue NAT54 £11.26 £11.26
Subtotal: £37.21
VAT: £5.59

*Shipping: n/a

Basket Total:
£42.80

or perhaps this:

Meguiars Quik Clay kit G1116 £10.39 £10.39
Collinite #476s & Carlack Kit COL522 £24.30 £24.30
Subtotal: £34.69
VAT: £5.21

*Shipping: n/a

Basket Total:
£39.90

Or there's always a combination involving some EGP to put on top of your SRP...

anyone know what constitutes clay bar lubricant?

is it possible to make up the stuff yourself i.e shampoo and water in a trigger spray
not sure really...although I would imagine a soapy mix- like what you used to get in those little bubble blowing bottles you get when you was a kid- would do fine. I would try fairy liquid water mix don't see how you go wrong. although it wont smell as nice as the Meguiars Quik Detailer

** Meguiars Quik Detailer **

Yeah i use that for lubricant. I got down to about 20% left in the bottle and then filled it up with water.

Buy a 1 gallon bottle of Meguiars Last Touch. It basically is Quick Detailer, costs 20 quid, and lasts for ever. I dilute it as well.

How do you find it diluted that much...does it still do a good job ??

Yeah i didnt see any difference tbh. It was only because i was too tight to buy anymore.

I have probably filled the bottle up twice now so its really just water now. I will however buy a new bottle for the next time i clean my car.

It will last for ages though as i only clay twice a year.

Oh right, excellent. That would last me a lifetime then in that respect. I'm not going to clay the car again until probably September ish, i will keep an eye out for the Meguires Last Touch. Many thanks.

I really need something to clean the dashboard etc, get rid of marks and suchlike. What is a good product/method? Warm water and some Chemicalguys somethingorother?

Last touch and be used as a drying aid, or to just help lift off dust etc in between washes. My car isn't dirty, its just covered in dust. Last touch will be good enough to shine it back up with a deep pile microfiber.

You don't need to spend lots of money to do this, we have the same dashboard (material and quality) and I use a spray can of Simoniz matt dashboard cleaner. Obviously don't spray direct but onto an MF and then wipe down as needed.

Nice results....well as OEM a result as can be without adding unneeded sheen or colour.

I've also gotten the same results with a pack of Armor All matt dashboard wipes but the spray lasts 10x longer than a pack of 15 wipes at the same cost...!

Some pics from cleaning the other day - couldn't get a lot as i only had my phone camera and it started to pour down just as i had finished.

I just used some snow foam on it (valet pro), then washed with chemical guys hyperwash. It's a shame i didn't get any pre-wash photos but i hadn't cleaned it since christmas and it had been through heavy snow and all sorts! Fortunately the g-techniq C1 sealant is still going strong, as is the glass sealant after 9000 miles/6 months. The wheels are ridiculously easy to clean with the wheel gaurd on, even after all these miles and the body work is also very easy to clean.

Somebody at work has just got a new company car (325d with the electric metal roof) and bought a "shamWOW" from America or somewhere.....anyway, what do you guys think about him using it on his car for drying it?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwRISkyV_B8

I must admit, after watching him put the shamWOW into a pint of water and no water being in the glass or water dripping from the cloth, I was impressed......but still have reservations about it being used on a car...thoughts?
